The gun is very well built for being an airsoft product made in Taiwan. The magazine for
the pistol consists of almost 60% of the gun's weight. The gun is not exactly comfortable
for the grip nor is it designed for smaller hands. Compare to the Walther P99 by Maruzen,
the STTI USP is slightly larger.
1 x Adjustment tools
Before Firing:
Loading the magazine with green gas is by far the easiest I've seen. Unlike the other guns,
the gas does not leak nor give a "hsssss" sound from the nozzle. The problem with this mag
design is that the mag can only hold 15 rounds. I was only able to squeez in 16 rounds max.
To adjust the gun's hop-up, you are required to actually stip the gun apart. The hop-up
unit is located inside the barrel and requires the use of the included adjustment tool. If
you turn the hop-up too much, the BB will get stuck inside the barrel.
Accessories:
Since the gun comes with a 14mm anti-clockwise thread, users can mount a silencer onto the
gun and give it somewhat of a SOCOM look. We have here a KSC Mk23 SOCOM Silencer with 14mm
Anti-Clockwise adapter that can be used for this gun. Not a bad look. Pretty much look the
same as the KSC MK23, just a lot cheaper.
Accuracy:
Straight out of the box, the gun shoots like crap. After adjusting the hop-up, it got a lot
better. However, even after numerious attempts on adjusting the hop-up, the gun still seen
to fire the BB more toward the left side. (Wind wasn't a factor cause I did this inside).
For testing accuracy, I use a standard wood clamp and clamped the gun tight to a chair
and aligned the target at 20ft. As can been seen on the picture, out of the total 7 shots,
only 3 hit the black center while the other 4 banks to the left side. An accuracy of a
4 inch grouping.
Problems:
The main problem about this gun is some what of an oil leak. I've noticed that after
the first was fired and you leave the gun sit for awhile, the gun starts to leak some
kind of oil. Another problem I've noticed that the magazine does not always slide in easily.
It always seem like something is in its way. Also, the Magazine release tends to clam your
finger. If you have a big hand, when you try to release the magazine, 4 out of 5 times you
will have the release clamp your skin. Not a good sign.
Conclusion:
Overall, I feel that this USP could use more work, but for the price of $110 for a Gas Blow
Back, it's pretty good. I'd recommend this for a newbie or for those who likes to have a
GBB around just to play around the house/backyard. However, this is one gun that serious
Airsofters should stay away from. The lack of accuracy (maybe this one is a defect) and the
lack of magazine size limits itself for being an ideal skirmish pistol. As for collectors,
don't bother, there are no trademarks on it. Besides, 80% of the gun is ABS plastic... Don't
think you'd want to show that off.
