Could you send me a link perchance? I can't seem to find it and the search engine at Arnie's is broken. Thanks!

Gas Discussion / WE M4 Rail Compatibility
« on: January 07, 2009, 01:50:37 PM »
Looking to buy a WE M4 (with trades of course). I've heard from here and other sites that it's a realistic and reliable blowback platform (the brass part inside the chamber is a little offputting, but I'm okay with that). My question is: what rails and parts are compatible with the WE M4? I'm looking to put some rails on it--how easily could I convert it to a SOPMOD M4? How about M16? Crane stock? Just wondering exactly what I can buy to upgrade the WE, since I'd prefer rails over the plain handguards.

i bought one already. solid as a rock. the nozzle is a little flimsier than the V4, but the body is like a tank. i don't see how you could break the body. the nozzle, again, quite stiff but in my opinion not as firm as the V4. that said, it won't bend or break since it's not brittle or hard...so it should be good.

i was looking around in my cheaper than dirt catalog (cheaperthandirt.com) and i found a hell of a lot of real steel accessories that are CHEAPER (!!!!!!11) than their airsoft counterparts! first and foremost, we have real steel vert. grips that are $8 (unfortunately not KAC, but whatevs, it's made for a real AR-15!), sniper pistol grips that are a mere $30, and collapsible stocks which are $25-40.

my question is will these accessories fit? obviously any RIS accessory should fit, but will a real steel stock fit my classic army (currently a full stock)? keep me updated. i will keep looking through this catalog to find deals...

5
wow that looks absolutely fantastic. i thought you meant "wood job" as in "i custom made my own wooden furniture" not "i covered the plastic with paint." great job.

6
hmm, that's an idea but i'd need to sand down the m203 grip ribs first. i wonder if there were some kind of clamp that i could modify to grab onto the m203. like some caliper that i could get that could be screwed onto the grip.

7
hey guys -- looking to get a m203 vertical grip which clamps onto the plastic m203 grip. http://www.m203grip.com/ has one for sale, but it's a whopping $277 for civilians! the concept is pretty simple -- a grip which locks onto the grip of the m203 with a vert grip attached...any ideas for something custom? or does anyone with a .mil e-mail address want to find out how much it costs for me? ;)

AEG Discussion / Re: How many lowcaps do you carry?
« on: July 14, 2007, 12:47:03 PM »
how the hell do you manage with more than 10 mags...i have problems unloading my spent mags into my dump pouch and original mag pouches as it is. 8 MAG 120-rd midcaps, 1 G&P 120 midcap, 1 backup CA 300rd hicap (probably going to be sold)

9
very nice guide, it helps really outline exactly what you need to get that SOPMOD look. now if only i could muster $150 to get that VITAL-2...

Gas Discussion / Re: Can I just throw any metal slide on my WA?
« on: July 04, 2007, 11:20:34 PM »
I will never, ever, buy real steel parts for a WA again. I bought real steel front and rear sights, and it was impossible to fit. I admit, I don't have a Dremel, which seems to be an essential weapon for any airsoft tooling. Nevertheless, I went at it with a file and it was frustrating and horrible. I bought a $50 set of steel Prime sights from WGC and obviously they slid right in perfectly.

Gas Discussion / Re: KSC M945 -- a sexy single stacker?
« on: July 04, 2007, 11:17:55 PM »
Wow...this is bad. I ordered the full metal M945 the day they posted it on their website, and they still haven't shipped my order. I suspect they ran out before they filled my order...unbelievable. I guess there's pretty high demand for this gun.

General Airsoft Discussion / How to cover up paint chips on guns
« on: July 01, 2007, 09:18:02 AM »
Actually, I'm asking not telling. When the black paint on your gun chips / flakes off to reveal the silvery metal underneath, how do you repair that? The old go-to is a Sharpie (permanent marker) but the color isn't black at all -- since the ink is kind of a mix of different colors to imitate black (which looks black on paper) it actually comes out kind of a dark shiny red, and in deep contrast with the matte finish on the real weapon.

Suggestions?

sweet...i guess the only problem now is figuring out whether the slide you buy is compatible with the sights you have on your gun. there are so many WA variants, each of which is totally non-compatible with real-steel (BOMAR, BOMAR competition adjustable, NOVAK, M1911A1 style)

i once played AA back when it was really popular on the computer...it was at once the most satisfying and frustrating game to play since getting a kill (especially with a pistol!) was so rare, and getting killed was so frequent.

Gas Discussion / Can I just throw any metal slide on my WA?
« on: June 30, 2007, 05:12:00 PM »
How can you tell what SCW version a gun is? I've looked in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Arms). It seems pretty reliable, but is this 100%? For instance, I've seen elsewhere that the Gold Match HW is a SCW3, but on wiki it says it's a SCW version 1.

Does the SCW version affect compatibility of metal slides? Can I just throw any other 1911 variant metal slide onto any other WA and still have it work? Or will the blowback body from SCW1 not fit in SCW2, and same between 2-3, 3-1, etc.?

i'm just sick of hearing my AEG motor spin wildly after i run out. and a Systema PTW can seriously lick my balls it's no better. you're still getting the whiny motor. not only that, does the PTW even have a working bolt catch and charging handle?

Forgive me I haven't been able to find previous posts on this specific topic. I also haven't been able to find LA Custom's website (the company that supposedly makes blowback M4's). From looking around it seems their weapons cost in excess of $2000 though, which might not EXACTLY be in my price range.

i think when it comes to the name, unfortunately WE as a brand carries no respect. that said i really don't know anything about their guns. i agree with everyone here though that it's worth the couple extra (dozens of) dollars to go with TM > KSC > WA.

Gas Discussion / News on GBB Rifles from Tanio Koba, A
« on: June 28, 2007, 04:49:46 PM »
Well, this was just from plinking around YouTube and Google, but I've come up with some crazy stuff that I've never seen before: GBB rifles that, if in development, seem to be completely revolutionary. So far what I've been able to gather is that, rather than modifying Sun Project's old external-gas system to propel BB's, these new gas blowbacks use either internal reservoirs or (more likely) magazine reservoirs. I don't know what you think but in my opinion this is pretty damn exciting.

I present article #1 of my case: test firing of an Armed Forces Co. M4

Article #2: test firing of an AFC AK-74SU

NOTE: It seems the AK-74SU is already available from AFC (www.armedforces.hk) for a mere $1500! We've seen GBB M14's at this price range before from custom shops like UNCo. See their front page for more info.
Article #3: Tanio Koba's upcoming gas weapons (a trusted name in airsoft development, and a meticulous engineer; finally, hope! And of course, likely at a sub-four figure price point!) -- first, the AK-74SU

Article #4: Koba's M4

A couple things:
1. First and foremost, I hope this isn't old news and I hope I don't get torn a new one
2. The 74SU and M4 seem to be popular options nowadays...but it's still weird that they're being developed in parallel by these two custom houses...or is it?!
3. Is it just me or does the action on the AFC M4 sound so realistic it's scary? Working bolt catch and charging lever?! God save us all.
4. When, oh when are these coming out?

That is all. Anyone who hasn't seen these, feast your eyes. If you have, sorry for once again reminding you that these won't come out for a long time.

wow that's really impressive that you're getting 330FPS+ on the dragon. I wonder if it's because the gun diverts more gas toward the BB than to the slide racking mechanism because the slide is so light...

Wait for me to (inevitably) buy my metal-version KSC M945 from UNCo. It is only $138 (plus shipping, so about $170), is a nice single stacker, and (I assume) will take green gas out of the box since it has a metal slide and barrel. It looks to be a sweet deal on a good looking single stacker 1911-esque style with metal slide and barrel. Otherwise you're going to have to buy the TM M1911A1 plus a metal slide, which will cost you anywhere between 50 and 100 bucks, plus shipping. Good luck!

Gas Discussion / Re: anything like the WA Kimber?
« on: June 28, 2007, 10:34:00 AM »
Good luck finding anything that looks remotely like a Kimber TLE-RL II for under $200 (and that's without shipping). I've always toyed with the idea of taking a cheap 1911, like a Marui, and replacing the grip safety, hammer, and trigger to make it look like a modern 1911. Not sure what compatibility is with aftermarket parts made for WA's and Marui's 1911 though.

By the by, that gun is a FBI trial pistol (~$200) + about $400-500 in metal upgrades (barrel, chamber, full metal slide and body, authentic grips). About a $650-750 pistol right there. Oh yeah, and don't forget the $200 Surefire X200. That pistol almost costs a grand.

the metal version was JUST posted on UNCompany, which is why i'm thinking i'll need an upgraded recoil spring...but i can't seem to find an upgraded hammer spring!

Gas Discussion / KSC M945 -- a sexy single stacker?
« on: June 27, 2007, 02:54:27 PM »
I own a WA SCW2 FBI Trial Pistol with a PGC slide, so I already have at least one SSS, but I am thinking about ordering a new KSC M945 metal version. I once hated the full-length guide rod, and loved the locked-back look of the traditional 1911s. I'm rethinking that, considering the M945 doesn't look at all like a traditional 1911. The slide is funky, the grip is different.

What's your opinion on it? Also, does anyone have experience with the M945 (or the metal version)? I'm planning on putting an upgraded recoil spring in it and feeding it green gas. Is this going to be OK without an upgraded hammer spring?

AEG Discussion II / Re: G&P M203 doesn't fit on CAM15A4?!
« on: April 11, 2006, 04:59:53 PM »
restricted area, of course i removed the bottom RIS, it's a barrel-mounted system. i guess it could be the barrel profile...blarf. the barrel mount won't fit over the m16 barrel for whatever reason. does anyone else have experience with the G&P M203's?
