Sniper's Perch / Re: Any Reviews/Upgrade Suggestions for L96?
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:59:50 PM »
jeez, am i glad i didn't get the L96. My friend just had an airsoft game, and he has a JG BAR-10. He's pretty wealthy, so i do not know why he didn't just get a TM. Anyway, he didn't do so well, and being a typical human, he blamed it all on his rifle. In fact, he was so mad at it he gave me it for 5 bucks! So now I am happy, cause i just saved about 100 bucks  ;D

I'm going to look at MarineSGT's thread, and then search around, then I'll make a new thread on my upgrades: At least 500 fps, mostly focusing on accuracy.

Should i delete this thread, or keep it for other people who can't decide between a VSR-10 or an L96?

Ohhhhh, and just to let you guys know, I already have the scope from my 30/30...

Sniper's Perch / Any Reviews/Upgrade Suggestions for L96?
« on: November 04, 2009, 03:54:41 PM »
I've decided to go with an L96, due to the fact that they have great fps stock, and the price. I was originally going to get a VSR-10, but I'm not anymore because of the cost (Kinda low on money right now). But anyway, does anybody know anything about this gun? Yes, I've done my homework, but I am always going to check with you guys first. I've read two detailed reviews on the UTG L96 (I have the links to them if you all want to see them for yourself). This isn't a "which gun" thread either, by the way.  :P

Link to Gun- http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_48&products_id=30209

Ive also searched up L96 upgrades (internal) and didn't get much, so I'm asking you guys now. I want to focus on accuracy upgrades, not fps.

Thanks.

I just watched a 30 minute tv show called Gametrailers TV on Spike TV.  It showed tons of new stuff never before seen.

-It revealed the new ghillie suit.
-It revealed how Juggernauts look like in Spec Ops.
-Sniper Scope give off a glint every now and then.
-More Kill streaks higher than AC 130.
-They revealed two new Spec Op maps.  (Dogs and snipers are included in Spec Ops)
-All Spec Op maps begin with your character being able to choose his own weapon from a room full of weapons then you breach.

can you give us the link? i can't seem to find it

Go prone.  You'd be surprised how many people at my field who refuse to go prone, because they don't want to get dirty.  By going prone, you can use almost anything as cover; even the ground itself, sometimes.
Are you friekin' kidding me? What a pathetic excuse? I hope they're not on your team alot...

Guam Marine, you're missing the point, unless you would've stated about taking the "flamethrower" and bending the barrel.
Although, the video was pretty sweet. I'd love to have a member on my team have one, if we were having like a WW11 theme airsoft war

Why use that when you can make a airsoft flamethrower which is must better plus you can scream phrases like burn baby burn or get some!
Party Pooper...

Have the team split into 3 elements. The first one runs through, takes cover on the other side, and provides cover fire for the others. The the second one runs through, and takes defensive positions. The third one will move through last, and take the lead when the order to move out is given...
Like what they did in Black Hawk Down? If we're talking about the same thing, then yes, that is a great tactic

Sniper's Perch / Re: Aluminum Sniper Rifle BBs?
« on: October 12, 2009, 05:46:33 PM »
Okay. Seeing as how the Aluminum will hurt more (right?) I'd like to ask anyone who has some of these BBs do something. I'd like to know how those regular safety glasses you get at Wal-Mart/Dick's would put up to these? I probably have this all screwed up, but if the glasses do not hold up, I'm going to tell everyone i play with to avoid these and if their using them, sorry but get out.

I wasn't planning on using them, I just saw them and thought "the heck is this?"

What the heck are these?

First time seeing them. Only one review so far, but that's not good enough. Has anyone ever used these before? Do they even work?

Tactics / The Ultimate Ambush Tactic. Well It's More Like A Lure.
« on: October 09, 2009, 10:57:33 PM »
We had another airsoft war today, and although there was no 7' rubber tube, we did do something that suprisingly worked against a 2 man team. Here's what we did...

It was 2v2 in my friend Alec's airsoft feild. I had my sniper, an mp5k and an electric pistol i just bought. My team mate Tim had a shotty. Since it was in the woods, we decided to slowly flank the enemy. About 15 min later, they came into sight. The problem was, there was so much brush and stuff we couldn't get a clear shot without them shooting us. So we went to this convenietly placed fort (just a 6' diameter ditch about 6 inches deep, with sandbags and logs covering 2 sides) and tried to form up a plan. Then i had a brain blast. You see, for some reason i always carry fishing line with me. That stuff is friekin' useful i tell you. Trip wire, fishing, anything. Anyway, we decided to prop up my electric pistol so it wouldn't fall or anything. Then we wrapped the fishing line around the trigger, and retreated about 20 ft. back. When we tugged, the pistol shot towards a tree that was vaguely close enough to the opposition. At first, they just automatically went prone and stayed there for about 3 min. After some whispering, some rustling of feet, and more whispering, we knew our lure had worked. 10 minutes later, they jumped out and ambushed my pistol, then we ambushed them.

That's my new tactic of the day folks, I would love to hear that somebody else would try this themselves and see how it works for them.

What gun: Any type of gun is acceptable for outdoor games.  It all depends on preference.

Even this gun?

sorry for the offtopic.
anyway,I think you should go into the woods with your team and get to know the area well, that makes strat. an tactic making a lot more easier.

I dunno, I just remember seeing it in a book and very briefly on TV. It was to keep Soviets from climbing onto tanks. But yeah, I can imagine airsofters running around with a 30', lime green garden hose wrapped across their shoulders. XD

Rampenfest, have you considered adding another set of mirrors to the bottom? You'd be able to flip the device 180 degrees so you're not just stuck shooting to the left.
Yes, I was thinking of wrapping it around my body like a bandolier. Maybe not 30' of it though  :D

^^^
that looks ridiculous. Did it actually work?

I like ookle's version though for airsoft purposes because of how versatile it is. Imageine, you are surrounded by enemies, and all hope is lost, but wait, you have the rubber tube! You stick it on the barrel of your gun and spin it wildly over your head while holding the trigger. All the opposition would be out in no time. It's fail proof.

The old rubber tube: Looks absolutely ridiculous, but works nonetheless!
Oh yeah, just call me Kyle  ;)

im sorry is it just me or does this take away from the whole realism part of airsoft?

It does, but it works pretty damn well.

I dunno... The Nazis made MP44s with barrels bent for just this purpose.

Really? I never knew that. Do they do the same thing with the airsoft models?

Sorry offtopic

That's almost like what I did. Except your idea is even more low-tech than mine!! ;D lol

http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=83629.0

I just read yours and thats a great idea. Mine's a bit more portable though because you can coil it to fit in the average backpack. But then again, I can't really see what I'm firing, because I don't have mirrors attached. I like yours, but I wish there was a way to make it real flexible like mine (We sort've sprayed and prayed through the window).

Tactics / Ultimate Window Breaching Technique!
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:10:10 PM »
Hey guys, it's been a while since I last posted here. But anyway, I just had an airsoft war at a friends place, which has a makeshift house/fort that has 4 windows, a door, and a secret tunnel exit (used his backhoe to dig that, then we reinforced it. It's actually very nice). The objective was me and 5 other people had to capture and hold the house/fort, which was defended by about 10 people. So me and the team decided to sneak up behind and get them to poke themselves out to the windows, then we'd pop 'em. That proved  successful for a while: we got 2 people out. But then, they had a brain blast and started blind firing (did i mention that they were completely stocked up on ammo? every person has at least 7,000 BBs with them). So we had to pull back and figure out a new plan. On our way back, I found a long rubber tube, with about a 1 inch diameter tube, and was about 7 feet long. So this is what we did: 4 of our team came up from the front, distracting them as much as possible (I was told they even took branches and stuff and threw them at the fort, which really got their attention), while me and my friend Tim snuck around the back with the tube. When we finally got to the wall, we shoved the barrel of his borrowed M16 in the front of the tube, then snaked the end of the tube through a window. Then we fired.

It turned out to be a complete success. We killed 5 (yes, 5) of them, and while the enemies came around to get us, the rest of my team advanced and we wiped them out.

I'm not sure if this can help anyone else, because it's pretty unlikely that you'll find a tube in the woods like we did. But then again, maybe it'll inspire some others to "tube breach" as well.

Also, before you guys start saying stuff like "well bla bla bla is a so much better way to breach 'cause bla bla bla..." you see I don't care, I'm just posting this up because this is a tactic me and a couple of friends used to win.

Not bad for my first post in a couple of months, eh?

DOA Draven #5
where did you get your raffia at?
at looked at Rogue Wolf's post and saw that you can get it cheap at Michael's, but i wanted to know where you got yours

18
thats why i thought that that little suppoter sign would help, but if you guys think it won't then that's okay, i don't really care

19
roob, this patch idea isn't for me, as i don't even have any patches and why would i i'm barely ever seen while playing airsoft so no one would say anything about it

20
Im pretty sure it has been discussed.
well if it has been i'm sorry but i'm just guessing it's a dead topic and don't want to bring it back up. you can get a strike for that right?

21
before i start, sorry if this has already been discused, although i'm pretty sure it hasn't .
i saw this one post before where this once guy (sorry but i don't remember any names) and the person posted up a patch of some division/unit (really i forget :P) and some people got really defensive about him having the patch because they thought it was disrespectful and all that. so i figured of something you can do so you can wear the patch and show support and not get roasted.
wear the patch, but underneath it have either a seperate patch or something that says "supporter"
for example, say you have a navy seals patch but your not a navy seal. have the little supporter patch (or just write it in marker if you can) and people won't get angry.

Like everyone else said, killrags seem to work as they are. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

On a side note, for a recent 3 week outdoor excursion, I kept a red bandana for drying my hands/wiping sweat etc in my left front pocket, slightly hanging out. Great use for it. Easy to whip out and shoo bees away with. You can use it to keep hair out of your face when doing delicate work. Drape it on your head and nobody shoots you. What with all the tac gear people wear, I'm sure each and every one of you can find somewhere to store a killrag. Empty pouches, empty space on gun, shove it in a pocket, around your ankle, waistband, etc.
what hair? i don't know about you but my hair  wouldn't get in my face even if i tried

i do the same thing as souljah and everything has worked out fine.
for now
