Gas Discussion / High end GBBRs - M4A1-RIS2 and Mk18Mod1
« on: December 05, 2011, 01:23:48 AM »
I've got $1500 to spend on three GBBR's, the difficult two are going to be clones of my RIS-2 M4 and RIS-2 Mk18 rifles, as well as deciding which operating system and magazine setup to settle on.

Right now, I'm looking at the G&P DDV5 M4, and the VFC Mk18Mod1, with a KSC M4A1 MOE as the third rifle, and just getting a few G&P magazines to round out what I need.

Would I be better off with different base guns and installing my own MadBull conversions (I am set on the licensed version of those two rails), or having a custom shop build all those?

Also, I intend to run these pretty hard in terms of round count, but not so much as far as required FPS or accuracy. I can run tons of duster gas, but would prefer propane for the added kick - these are going to be foremost training guns for when I can't make it to the range, and going to see some pretty huge round counts, so long term durability is also a factor, I'm buying these with the intention of wearing them out, so I'm willing to pay more up front.

AEG Discussion / Llama's CQBR UGL connundrum - Halp!!!
« on: October 13, 2008, 10:13:42 PM »
I'm trying to figure out how to assemble the following, and I've essentially failed to come up with an adequate solution:

11.5" Barreled (Government profile) flattop upper
9" Barreled M203 (G&P Jungle Series, barrel mounted)
... with rail space available to mount 6V Light and ATPIAL, preferably longer rail system

I want to be able to free float the grenade launcher (I fully understand how unneccessary, but this is what I'm trying to get)
I'd like to preserve my ability to remove the GL quickly, as well as use the flash hider to mount a can (QD as well)

I already have the lower set up exactly how I want (G&P Lower, MIAD Grip, EMOD stock), since my URX Shorty won't get the job done
The MadBull XM230's would look nice, but that's not what I'm looking for.

IDEAL:
DD (G&P Defender type)
GL/SSC 11" RIS-II SOCOM Rail (with integral M203 mounting hardware)
G&P M933 Barrel assembly, Mk12 gas block, KA TROY Sights

The G&P Defender kit is the Mk18 RIS-II model, for 10.5" barreled CQBRs.  Not sure why the have it on an 11.5"...
I stupidly pre-ordered a Defender, thinking it was the right rail, which it's not.  BravoTac or somebody might eventually carry the GL/SSC version.

Tried:
KAC URX-II, with FF M203 mounts (replace bottom rail)... but the part never came out from G&P, no luck getting a RS one, and I'd still need to replace the barrel, because my URX Shorty come with a 11.5" Fluted Bull barrel (can't run UBGL off that)

UGLY, EXPENSIVE... last resort
ARMS (PROUD) #50 Rail system
G&P M933 Barrel, KAC Front flip-up sight

2ROY - If I forgo making it look right, this would work... toughest choice would be the rail system itself.

Any other ideas?  I've considered a chopped 13" setup, and I'm toying with the idea of trying to ghetto rig the GL mount to attach directly to the flash hider (not free floated, but would work).

Clothing/Gear / SKD/Eagle Chest Rig Sale
« on: August 14, 2008, 09:31:23 AM »
SKD Tactical : http://www.skdtac.com is having a chest rig sale (-20%), including their SKD version of Eagle's Universal Chest Rig.

This puts the price LOWER than the Pantac knockoff of the Eagle  Chest rig, and this one has MOLLE attach points on the sides, worth looking into!

Worth checking out - I'll be adding a quick review to this once mine arrives!

AEG Discussion II / Cheapest Rear-Wired M4 with 11.5" Barrel?
« on: June 26, 2008, 02:16:52 PM »
Looking around, have an odd request (no luck searching myself) - what's the cheapest M4 with a crane stock, or that's able to take one easily that also has an 11.5" (not 10.3") CBQR barrel on it?

Clone is okay (somewhat preferred), plastic receiver isn't so bad (I'd be replacing that too), just trying to decide this for my latest CQC setup.

8
Looking to mount a 9" M203 onto my 11.5" Barreled CQBR, but I'm trying to decide if I should keep waiting for the FF M203 mount for the URX system I already have, OR if I should remove the URX I have, and then get a PROUD ARMS #50 Rail system that comes with that mount already?

... or should I sell my URX as-is, and build a whole new AEG (EMOD Stock, ARMS #50 Rail System, 11.5" Barrel) off a clone model?

9
My favorite little springer finally got abused too much, and the barrel link attachments on the chamber both got sheared off (dumbass handled).

Any ideas how to fix it without just getting a whole new UHC to use as a parts gun?

10
I guess I've just decided to make a repository of custom rifle setups that I really want to make, but since I can't build every idea,  might as well pollute the minds of others with my concepts.

I'm welcome to suggestions on ways to improve these, use better parts.  I'll focus on externals mostly, since the options for mechboxes and barrels is possble.

I'll group them by base weapon:

Upcoming Ft. Ord game set for May17th!!!

Operation Silent Spring

Scenario

The World Association of Nature's Keepers of Earth's Realness, or commonly known as ****ERS, is an umbrella radical splinter group which formed from people who though PETA, The Earth Liberation Frong (ELF) and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) were too mainstream and lacked the plans in place to really save the Earth. With the defection of a member whose conscience got the better of him, this person contacted Interpol with evidence of the ****ERS plans and organization. For years the ****ERS have used other "green" organizations to recruit new members and fundraising purposes, until a shadowy benefactor comes onto the scene and sets the group up with a base of operations. The informant details that the ****ERS have developed some "natural, biological" solutions to what they see as human intrusion and expansion into nature. The informant can give no details as to what the "solutions" specifically are, only that they are ready for deployment. While several Interpol agencies have confirmed the location of the ****ER's base and some activities of interest, little is know of the groups "solutions."

Team Arrangements

Now – Onto the next Op!

Operation Dutch Crunch

Like all dictators who face opposition to his high handed tactics, Chavez looks to distract his people with a foreign adventure. Seeing a chance to bolster his image as a liberator of Latin American territory from European imperialists, he launches an invasion of the Dutch West Indies islands of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.

Chavez lands a force on the Island of Aruba to secure the main port and Airport so that they can move in larges forces and equipment. The plan is to first overwhelm the small Dutch marine, naval and air detachments and move on to the other islands.

The Dutch quickly move to reinforce their small forces by requesting help from its NATO allies, most notable the U.S. The U.S sends in a carrier group and quickly lifts in a Marine detachment.

Hugo has one ace up his sleeve. He has hired Narcoterrorist – terrorist run by narcotics kings in the areas - that use the islands to money launder to help his forces and for motives of there own.

Team Arrangements:

FAC/Venezuelan Army – Woodlands

NarcoTerrorists – Civi's with a look of mid 80's drug dealers

Dutch Forces – Desert

Marines – Multicam/Desert Marpat

General Airsoft Discussion / Most solid Aimpoint 3xMag clone?
« on: March 26, 2008, 02:20:10 PM »
If in wrong section - please verbally abuse, within TOS.

I'm trying to figure out which is the most solid 3xMag clone (Aimpoint or clonses of the EOTech),

And which mounts are solid for them (included or not)

Not too limited by price, but the most affordable one that's ridiculously durable and has decent optics quality.
I've been avoiding these for a long time, but now that I have a use, I need to get up to speed!

AEG Discussion / Systema Torque-Up motor out of a Marui M14
« on: December 11, 2007, 09:59:49 PM »
I've got a stray Systema motor I need to get rid of, and I think it's out of my old M14 (I no longer have).

Need an idiot-check, is it dimensionally the same as the other SHORT motors?  What other guns are these compatible with (I don't have any more short motor guns to double-check this with)

General Airsoft Discussion / 14mmCW -> 14mmCCW Adaptor (Where to find - KA)
« on: December 09, 2007, 05:18:07 PM »
Looking to find the KA (or similar) 14mm Clockwise  to Counterclockwise adaptor (for M4), for a reasonable price, haven't had much luck yet.

Anybody know where to find these (priced, shipped reasonably for something this small)

AEG Discussion / Best piston/spring arrangement for ~.9J HighROF Setup?
« on: December 09, 2007, 04:51:24 PM »
I'm trying to make a high ROF setup for a Ver2 G&P URX.

Motor -- it'll either be a Guarder High Speed or G&P M160 motor
Gears -- Systema High Speed

I'm probably going to just use a Marui spring with Marui piston maybe modified), but I'm also looking for other ideas, or what piston might work the best.
Also, anybody with experience using the SP85, PDI 110%, or similar springs, I'm rather curoius.

Basically I'm trying to milk a 9.6V2200mAh G&P Crane stock battery for high ROF without sacrificing reliability.
Target muzzle velocity is anywhere between 300-330fps using an M16 bore-up kit, 6.03mm Tightbore.

AEG Discussion / G&P SR-16 URX Available on eHobbyAsia
« on: November 24, 2007, 04:25:45 AM »
eHobbyAsia has their hands on at least a couple of the newest G&P M4's out there, the Knight's Armament Co. Stoner Rifle SR-16 w/ Universal Rail eXtension free floated rail accessory system... aka the SR-16 URX

Available in CQBR and M4 lengths, both using the Carbine length URX system, and also includes other features:

G&P NSWC Crane Stock
G&P Knight's SR-16 Metal Receiver
G&P Norgon Ami-Catch Magazine Release
G&P Knight's 1-pt Receiver extension sling swivel
G&P Knight's Sniper Type Trigger Guard
G&P Knight's Flip-Up Rear Sight (600m)
G&P Knight's Flip-Up Front Sight (SAM-R Type)
G&P Knight's SR-16 M4QD Flash Hider

G&P KAC URX FFRAS

I just ordered my shorty URX, along with a torque-up motor, high speed gear set, and other stuff -- so I won't be the person to ask about stock performance, but I can certainly talk about looks, fit, form, function.

I can't wait for the URX Underbarrel Grenade Launcher modular addon (free floated M203 for URX) - use google image search to see how impressive the results are)

20

Feel free to share your stories -- even if it's from some of your first games.

The point of this is to illustrate that it's not all about who has the most souped-up upgraded gun with the most accessories.

I spent the day yesterday at Roundhouse Productions field (www.cqbchallenge.com), and had an absolutely fantastic time...
despite being totally outclassed in the hardware department.

My gun:  KWC P226 (Circa 2000).  Still had the orange tip, but had almost been worn off from being dragged/dropped/scraped on asphalt.  My old roommate and I had done takeaway/weapon retention practice with it before.
There's rust coming out of the piston head, barrel, hammer block, and every screw on the gun.  The safety is so worn out that I have to manually keep it on 'fire'.
Chrono:  145fps w/ Excel 0.2g Bio BBs.

... Under half that of the next worst gun on the field (I was playing against a Systema PTWS, M249's, and all sorts of AEX's wicked creations.

Still -- I averaged over 5 kills/game (106 Attendance) which was not too shabby.

Best memory -- I had outflanked literally the entire team, taken out a fire team, and was getting ready to take a building on the far side of our objective.  I hear a muffled 'thwump', and suddenly feel a bump on my side.
I had gotten directly tagged with a NERF football from 50ft away, was easily the coolest shot in the game.

Sniper's Perch / VSR Project: Part Compatibility Q's (PSS170, 700mm BBbl)
« on: September 16, 2007, 07:27:46 PM »
I'm trying to put together a 550-600fps VSR, and reliability/ease of upgrading is a priority for me now (I can spend up to $700 on the gun by itself), so I'm trying to educate myself on parts, and how to make it accurate.  (I'm trying to get this built in time for the Fortress copy of the McMillan A4 Stock for VSR-10).

Am I best off buying and starting with the G-Spec (Going to be using with a scope, I prefer that bolt handle, scope mount), or is one of the clones compatible enough to work with these radical changes?

DeepFire 700mm Bull Barrel
PSS170 Spring
Zero Trigger w/ Piston Kit
Teflon Cylinder
Firefly Rubber

Q:
Does Dees Customs make a 6.01x555mm tightbore that will work with this?
Do I want/need the FF Silent cylinder head with the teflon cylinder?
Do I want a different hopup assembly (since I'll probably be firing Straight .43g)?

Lastly, do you think that this setup will get me in with the 300ft club?  (Or at least be able to get center of mass shots at 250ft?)

I'm looking for one of the barrels that interchanges between a CQBR Length, or a full M4 Barrel (The All metal kind -- I haven't found any in stock).

If this is an easy find -- I don't care, I'll appreciate it a lot.  I'm averaging 10 minutes of computer access per day, so that's cramping my ability to search correctly.  Any 'please search yourself comments' may cause emotional damages.
