AEG Discussion / KWA KM4 SR10 FPS upgrades help/advice wanted.
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:36:16 PM »
Hello.  I'll cut to the chase I'm going to be purchasing my first upgrade parts and installing them on my KWA.  I'm aiming for around 500 fps constant after semi-auto locking the gun.  I haven't previously upgraded any guns and would appreciate any advice on the matter.

My thoughts as a newb to upgrade work were to start with the spring.  My questions are what spring, what parts do I need to upgrade to handle a new spring and should I also upgrade the barrel at the same time? Or would a new barrel make any sense at this time.

Focusing on one thing at a time but eventually would also like to get the gun to reach as far as "airsoftly" possible.  Ha.

Thanks for any help.

Gun Modifications/Parts/Accessories / KWA KM4 SR10 FPS Upgrades Question.

You're all familiar with the tri-shot shotgun clones.  If not and you need more info then just ask.  I own the UTG model.  I always carry a springer alongside my primary and secondaries because of their reliability.  As for the shotguns, they're cheap, reliable, and look bad*** strapped to your back.  What more could you want right?

I haven't previously had any problems with the UTG, resulting in the only maintenance I've had to perform on the gun is cleaning the barrel.  Even now I would only call this a minor annoyance, but it could become a problem quickly which is why I'm asking.

So the stock is loose, only slightly but enough to wobble if only gripped one handed.  I was brought down to just the shotgun last weekend and I did a lot of running in the aftermath.  That'll do it.
I want to tighten the stock back up again before using it so it doesn't get any worse.  Only I couldn't actually figure out what screw does it or if it's even possible.  I'm assuming that it is possible to tighten it because of the other varient of the gun available with a pistol grip.  I had always thought the stock and pistol grip were inter-changeable, but I don't know for sure.  Anybody more familiar with these stocks?

Like any other person with a decent amount of common sense, your intitial thought on this should be:  Battery = Electricity, Electricity + Water = Death. :P

Now speaking through the ignorance of the average person, I'd like to be able to do this.  I've heard rumors of the legendary EBHU (Enemy Bastards Hiding Underwater, Yes I Completely Just Made That Up But Get Over It), at several outdoor fields me and my team appear at regularly.  We've always had our feet wet more often than dry because our strategy's usually include using the rivers to cover our movement, over the other option of making our way on dead branches and leaves.  Rivers vary in depth at different points though, and we've never been able to use them to their full potential, being that we all use AEG's as our primary.  But, if it is true that an AEG can be used after being completely submerged in water, or perhaps with the right modifications, then we could gain a big advantage over opposing teams.

The idea sounds completely idiotic to me, so I want to know what you think or have heard about the topic.  Of course I could always try it and find out, considering an AEG battery doesn't have enough voltage to stop a human heart, but I would like to have kids someday.

I've been working on modifying a stock AEG to be used as a DMR (like everyone seems to be doing these days).  I overlooked the fact that many fields require a rifle to be single-fire only to be used as a DMR, so now I need instructions on how to do this to a full-auto capable AEG.
If anyone can give me good instruction or lead me to a sight that will have it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

I've been planning on ordering this Holo-Sight Magnifier hybrid off of www.weaponblender.com for some time now.  I haven't been able to find any written reviews of either sight, which I always check over before I chance ordering anything.  Adding to that I haven't had any experience with accessories from the manufacturer, so I have no view as to the quality of the sights.

Looking for opinions on ordering these sights, or for anyone who's owned a product of the like before to give me a heads up if they'd recommend it or not.
You can find both of them here:

Thanks ahead of time.

Hey people I'm thinking about buying a LiPo battery off of evike.com listed under "High-Performance 11.1 LiPoly battery" but I'm confused at there being two of what looks like the same thing to me.  One is listed as having 12c and the other one as having 15c, but what does that mean/stand for?

For those of you who own or have had experience with a SCAR-Light platform, or just plain love the gun.  Which do you think compares the best over others?  Be it an AEG or GBB, name the make and why.

Hey guys,

I really need help with repairing a new G&G Extreme .45 CO2 GBB I bought to replace my first pistol that finally bit the dust this fall.  I've been using this pistol as my standard side arm for two years now, and as impressive as it's performed (I LITERALLY sniped with the pistol using .3's, further than several spring snipers I've used) I had no intention of replacing it with anything but the same pistol when it stopped functioning in October.
I made the conscious yet stupid mistake of ordering the pistol from Airsplat, which was where I bought the original, but didn't use the pistol except for a one mag test firing in my basement due to the cold weather (I also dry fired the rest of the CO2 cartridge that night for fun).  Without attempting to make any adjustments to the hop up I decided that the gun was OK and waited for the weather to warm up to start using it.  Well about a month ago I brought it out for the first time, put a fresh CO2 cartridge into it and began trying to adjust the hop-up system.  Then I found out that the d*** thing has a faulty hop-up that won't adjust, but merely spins around in place when you apply the tool.  I let it sit over night and the next morning found the CO2 cartridge completely depleted, put another one in and discovered that there's a small leak in the seal when the mag is in the gun.

I can't return the pistol because the 30 day warranty through Airsplat is long over run, but the pistol is practically entirely new and I can't justify throwing away $100 dollars when I should be able to fix it.  The problem is I haven't a clue as to how to do that.  So I'm hoping that someone here has experience with working on this exact gun and can help me.

The problems with the gun are:
• Non-functioning Hop-Up.
• CO2 leaks when the mag is inserted.

I have access to directions on dismantling the pistol and should be able to put a link up soon.  If anyone can help, PLEASE DO!

Thanks.

I've done a rough search for information on LiPo's, but so far haven't found any threads directly related to what I want to know.
Which is...

What are the circumstances under which a player should switch to a LiPo battery on their AEG, and once switched how should they go about upkeep and maintenance to both the gun and battery they are using?

I have no experience or general knowledge about LiPo's besides knowing they can greatly increase the performance of your gun, but could also destroy the internals of the gun if it is not "LiPo ready", which again I am uncertain to what that specifically means.

If there is an obvious source of information on this question that I stupidly missed, I apologize and if so please help me correct my mistake.
Otherwise I would appreciate someone's time to explain this to me.

Thanks.

I'm working on an Ops-Core FAST style helmet project.  I want to know where I can find attachments sold specifically to be compatible with the arc-rails on this helmet.  I'm also searching for an NVG mount.  If anyone can tell me where to find these things and possibly what the price ranges I'd be looking at will be that would be great.

Specifically I'm looking to find a floodlight attachment, NVG mount, and video camera attachment, but I'm also interested in hearing what other attachments designed for this helmet are out there.

Can anyone help me with this information?

I have all of the gear I need for competative play except for head protection.  I have lower mouth protection and a set of full seal goggles but no helmet or anything of the sort to cover my bald head. ;)  I've never been hit there but something tells me it would hurt like a ***** so I want to find a good helmet, something like a MICH or Kevlar style helmet.  I know these kinds of helmets tend to not work well when they're not the real thing but I've seen tons of players who use them so I'm hoping someone could help me find one.  Or if I have to find a real helmet where I could possibly do that?  I would like to be able to mount optics on the helmet so again if anyone knows how to do this I'd appreciate hearing it.

Thanks,

Stalker

The ICS MP5 I own developed the problem of double feeding on semi-automatic a while ago.  It only double feeds on semi-auto, and all I know is that the problem isn't related to the magazines because they work flawlessly in other guns.  Has anyone had this problem before?  Can anyone help me fix the problem?

Hello Airsoft Retreat.  My name is AJ, I'm a 16-year old from the Milwaukee WI area.  I'm joining this forums site because after looking around I believe it's the best place to go to for honest friendly advise about Airsoft.

I'm putting up this thread both for myself and for any other stragglers that found their way to this site but would rather not straight come out and say they're newbs and need a lot more help than a question here and there can give.

I've been Airsofting for the last two years with a group of friends on private land (It's not ours but somebody has to own it right?).  There is more than enough land for us to hold matches on, so although we started out with no knowledge of the sport, we had a better start than your average idiot kids in their backyards shooting eachother point blank with Walmart springers until the first one breaks skin and decides he doesn't like Airsoft.  Anyways like I said I've been Airsofting for the last two years, and I've finally decided that knowing I enjoy Airsoft as much as I do, and that it's something I want to be more than good at and want to continue doing as much as I can afford to in my spare time, I need advice on where to go from here from people who are experienced at the sport.

I'm hoping that the members on this site who know what a person should do from the beginning and what mistakes not to make can sort of come together and share any and all advise they think a person looking to get serious about Airsoft should know.  Anyone who's been playing for a few years or even if you're fairly new yourself but have something useful you think you should add, I'm asking you guys to take the time to start answering to this post and give all the newbs out there a walkthrough of what we need to know, do, work on, ect.

I'll be asking more personally about myself and what I'm aiming to do later on, and I'll post what Airsoft guns I own now at the bottom of this thing for anyone who wants to know before they give me advise, but for now I was hoping you could comment on what a person whose looking to skip the early mistakes and get serious about this sport should do, from beginning to end.

I am in no way asking anyone to take the time to write some huge reply as long as this thread of EVERYTHING they think a person should do from start to finish.  I was thinking people could make smaller comments like any other topic and simply add on to eachother's information. But hey, if you're willing to write it I know people will read it.

I'm writing this post to be taken seriously.  Please save the bull****.  It's truly just to ask for advise from anyone willing to give it.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to help out myself and any other Airsofters just getting started.  You have no idea how much it's appreciated.

None of the guns I own are upgraded.
