Sniper's Perch / Re: Looking to upgrade my stock JG BAR-10
« on: July 28, 2010, 07:07:42 PM »
So I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to sniper rifles here, so please bear with me. What exactly is the ABB ring mod and barrel spacers? I plan on getting a new hop up system because the current one I have double feeds, which is apparently a known BAR-10 problem.

If I could replace the hop-up and barrel and do modifications to give me higher FPS and accuracy would that get rid of the need for stuff like new springs, cylinders, pistons, spring guides, trigger sears, etc?

I mean I get the basics of the sniper rifle, but I'm typically an AEG player.

Sniper's Perch / Looking to upgrade my stock JG BAR-10
« on: July 27, 2010, 11:02:11 PM »
Basically I have no idea what brands are ideal, I'm willing to put maybe 200 dollars into the rifle. My basic plan is as follows, but it'd be nice if someone could suggest what brands to buy. I'm trying to to basically make the rifle more accurate without making the bolt pull much harder.

I want to almost completely replace the stock parts if possible. So I need suggestions on the following replacement parts

Barrel
Hop-up unit
Trigger mechanism
Spring

Now my plan is to install these parts and then cut the airbrake and teflon tape it. The field I play on has a limit of 500 FPS with .2's, so specifically what parts should I be looking at? I'm in the process of wading through the stickies already posted, but most of the images have 404'd..

Gas Discussion / KWAW M1911 Trigger/Hammer Problem
« on: May 30, 2009, 06:51:53 PM »
Well I finally got my KWA M1911 back from Sir-Plus today. I was excited to go shoot so I loaded up a mag with gas and went outside to shoot, I pulled the trigger......and nothing. After racking the slide, checking the magazines and cursing I went back inside to examine it. I field stripped it and found the problem, it was in the shop because it was jammed up and I couldn't do anything about it. They had to pretty much tear the slide off and fix a pin that caused it to lock up. Well that pin was missing, but I found it in the box they gave back to me. It is located just in front of where the hammer rotates, pushing the firing pin that presses the valve on the magazine. Without that tiny pin the gun cannot fire. I put it back in, but it only fires when I shake the gun and the pin falls back into a groove in the hammer, then it'll fire and then I have to shake the gun around in order for the pin to move back into position, it's also completely fallen out sometimes. I need this up an running for a large game tomorrow? Help?

pics will be up soon once I reassemble it. I tried getting into the trigger system but failed and I'm trying to get the safety spring back in the gun.

Problem Solving / Stripped Screw
« on: May 29, 2009, 08:21:31 PM »
I have a BAR-10 that I got a couple months back and it's still stock. Great rifle by the way, but I stripped the allen screw that holds the receiver to the stock. I tried super gluing the allen key to the stripped screw and twisting but failed epically. I don't have access to a dremel and I have no clue how to get it out. I really want to do the airbrake mod and clean the internals, but I can't. Help?

Problem Solving / Tokyo Marui M14 fire selector problems
« on: May 29, 2009, 08:18:40 PM »
I'm having two problems with my Marui M14.

First the fire selector isn't very secure it often falls out of place into auto. I've tried tightening the small allen screw in it but it does nothing at all.

Second, it fires on auto at all times, regardless if the selector is on semi. I thought it could be damage from taking the stock on and off several times to clean the internals. But there appears to be no damage at all.

I just realized I didn't ask a question, what can I do to fix these problems?

Problem Solving / KWA M1911A1 is jammed or locked up
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:33:51 PM »
I just recently got a new KWA M1911 magazine from trinityairsoft.com recently, so I decided to go test it out and make sure I had purchased the right magazine(there were two models of magazine). It appeared I had bought the right one, everything was working smoothly. I went through one magazine, started into my second and then it jammed after had fired all of the rounds and the slide went back. I released the slide catch and it only went some of the way forward. It was still a centimeter from being all the way forward. So naturally I tried to field strip it and remove what I thought could be a BB. I noticed it was hard to get the slide to move back, but eventually I got it back and pushed the slide catch out. As it slid forward it got caught in the same location it had got stuck 1 cm from where it should sit naturally. After playing around with it for awhile it appeared that the gas system(I have no clue what all those parts are called) was engaged forward like it would be if it was be sealed with the hop-up chamber. I tried pushing it back with a flat head screw driver and was unsuccessful. The slide also appears to have a small gap between it and the rails that the slide travels on, I can see daylight through them. It also seems to get stuck too, I have to push the hammer down to make the slide move.

That's all I really know, I don't know much about GBB's. Is there any way to unjam this sucker or a way to open it from another spot to get to this? I got wasted in a game today because I didn't have my sidearm.

Gas Discussion / What happened to the new KWA P226 PTP?
« on: June 29, 2008, 04:01:18 PM »
I was about to make a big order from both ASGI and AEX, when I went to AEX to add the KWA to the shopping cart it no longer existed. I came here and found the link to it, and it's gone! If it was out of stock I'd think they'd just list it out of stock.

I'm also going to agree with ACU, that field is PERFECT for ACU's. It has all the right colors.

Excel or AE woul be the way to go, I'm a big AE fan. Those are the only BB's I allow in my TM M14.

And it's got some weird battery box, I'd go with a VFC or wait untill Echo 1 releases a metal version of the crane stock.

Go with King Arms mid caps, you can get a box of 10 for about 50 USD on AEX. Some might have feeding problems so just test them out and if some have feeding problems use a file and sand down the little tab that stops the bb's from flying out of the magazine no more than 1mm and you should be good.

Tactics / Re: Im guna try to train a team from the ground up
« on: December 30, 2007, 02:56:34 PM »
Ideas for PT:

5 MINUTES TO STRETCH!

2 MINUTES TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS WATER!

40 Pushups with full combat load
50 Situps with combat load
1.5 Mile Run in combat load
As many pull ups as you can without combat load
2 Sets of flutter kicks for one minute.
Leg Lifts for 2 minutes
100 yards of squats with combat load.

the idea of wearing a combat load will make it easier to do hard work in the field and even easier to regular exercises without a combat load. Combat loads should be personalized so not everyone will be pulling the same weight, it will get each person used to wearing their gear and doing lots of physical activity. Also make sure they carry their rifle to all of the evolutions. That means they'll have an extra 6-7 pounds to carry while running on top of their combat loads.

I recomend going HARD at the start to give them a taste of PT, then after a couple days go easy on them and let them recover, then slowly ramp up the PT untill they are all fighting machines. That's the way our swim team did our dryland training, on the first day we pushed us HARD and I could barely move the next couple of days, but then practices got easier and we ramped it back to 110% effort. But we can all handle it now.

I stress doing PT first because you CANNOT have an out of shape member on a team, SEVERAL times I've had to SPRINT half a mile to get away from the advancing enemy, out of my team I was the only one to be able to make it to saftey.

Combat Training:

If the members of your team do not already have a rifle and gear tell them to order this:

An Echo 1 M16
Tac Force Riflemen Vest OD
8 MAG Midcaps
Camo for the region you are in. I recommend getting a simple woodland set or desert set.
A good mask
pistol of their choice
holster of their choice

This way your team will be able to switch magazines easily in a firefight. Show each member the basic functions of the rifle and how to deal with problems that it may have. Then take them to a makeshift range and get them used to their rifle and adjust their hop ups.

*more later, going to the beach, well I am in mexico..*

Put them through some kind of training program. If you say you're building from the ground up you first need to show them the basic saftey rules and airsoft lingo. Teach them the basics of the AEG, GBB, and Bolt Action Rifle. Then get them into shape by doing push ups, sit ups, running, pull ups and if possible an O-Course. DO NOT PICK YOUR LEADERS YET! From then split them up into two teams. Let them skirmish and observe who you think is the leader type. Don't inform them that you'll be looking for leadership, you hsve to let them do it on their own. Once you have a good idea of who your leaders are split up into smaller teams. Make them work as a TEAM ALWAYS, basically like the airsoft version of a BUD/S boat team. Put them through combat exercises and practice radio communcation and reaction to enemy contact. Teach patroling, how to ambush, etc. If the squads don't work as a tem feel free to make them do push ups. Practice untill they get whatever you're teaching right. Build a range somewhere and have a target shoots weekly, have them meet once every couple of weeks for 2 hours for a quick training session, etc. Keep them in shape and keep their muslce memory of the exercises you do.

That is if you're looking to be the best of the best.

Summary:

-Do several days of PT
-Spend a day or two teaching the basics of the game
-Start picking squads
-Start teaching them the basic's of combat
-Start getting more and more advanced with combat techniques.
-Keep them in shape after the initial training is over

Tactics / Re: What do you do upon first enemy contact?
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:26:15 AM »
I see people are saying EXACTLY what I've been saying...

And raidos are two way. So If you call for help and C&C cant send back up they'll let you know and you can make your choice to stay and fight or to fall back. If you can't pinpoint where you are you don't deserve to be leading. it's not always the cavalry that rescues you. It could be the presence of another unit to distract the enemy or a small unit to sneak up behind the unaware attackers that would give your team the chance to escape.

This is true, but I'm pretty sure those SEALs engaged a target right in front of them. SEALs ambush, they don't like to be ambushed since they work in small units. When they ambush they use fire rate to make them seem like a larger unit. Thus striking fear into the hearts of the enemy. Of course you should retreat if you can. But most ambushes take place when the unit starts a fire fight with a unit directly infront of them, then they are snuck up on from the flanks and hit as they fall back. Look at Hill 875, the airborne troops got hit when they fell back from assualting two MG nests. If you are caught in a full out ambush while on patrol always try to hold your ground. For all you know they could be using SEAL tactics and be a small 4 man team trying to make the command think they have a whole platoon guarding a spot. Radio communication is far faster than sending people to go tell the people in charge.

an M14 EBR would be the way to go, you can reach out and touch someone, it has a sliding stock, and it can double as an rifleman's weapon if it hits the fan.
