Bro, I'm waiting to get out of Afghanistan. Then it's back to Bragg, then I'll be waiting on my promotion to civilian. I did my E5 though.
Con-friggin-grats bro!

Watch your back over there, and let's get together when you get back on this side of the world.  I still owe you a round!

Very well written.  However, without proper training on this stuff it is utterly worthless, as I am sure you will agree.

TEF does.  But, you know that.

Tends to work out well for us.

Boot the weak link and those who are his butt buddies.  That is the only way you can save the team.

Tactics / Re: The Peel
« on: November 29, 2009, 12:54:22 AM »
This tactic is very helpful when you're under heavy fire. However in the video it seems the SEALs do a full spin before they peel out, does anyone have a reason for this manuver?
The full spin is performed in order to not sweep your partners with your weapons, expedite your getting up,  and allow you to load your primary foot before sprinting with your bodyweight.  There are several groups in the sof community, both LE and mil, that do it this way.  I have been on teams that do it both ways.

*sigh*

The first provided link to room clearing (MOUT)....is so wrong. Even though many units have different SOPs on room clearing...that nifty looking play by play of how to clear a room is so wrong on all unit standards. If you want to die use that strategy. Why is that diagram wrong? Well the number one key to room clearing is to get out of the fatal funnel - meaning the area in front of the door way. I could post a the correct way to clear a room but I'm pretty sure you can just google it.

Just know to...

- Move to your point of domination

- Stay out of the **** fatal funnel ( area in front of the doorway where all the bad guys are going to be aiming )

- Know your sectors of fire

Well, high-speed...let me help you out.

First of all, thanks for your service.

Second of all, I WAS medically retired.  No longer.  I have been active again as an operator for about a year now and am a team leader.

I have been through schools by many of the greatest and have received "top operator".  Not by choice, but by skill.

NOWHERE did my diagrams say to hold in the "fatal funnel".  Nor have I EVER taught that.  Maybe you should re-examine what I am teaching.

By the way...I have never lost an operator on my team.  Also, my airsoft team has won competitions.

I understand what 11B is.  I had an 18x I turned down to stay in LE.

Feel free to contact me, kid.

Real stuff works.  You don't have to believe all of us real deals around here...does not matter to us.

It keeps us alive in real life.  It seems to work pretty well for us in airsoft too...since TEF won the last ASR combat challenge...by a pretty good margin.

We will keep on teaching those of you that care to know how things are done in real life (OPSEC sensitive material omitted, of course).

So...whatever.

Remember to check the DATE on topics and posts! This one is 5 months old! :\

Are you seriously...seriously...correcting me here?

Maybe that explains why you already have one strike.  Trying for two?

That caloric and macronutrient content is not necessarily correct.  You have to figure in BMR, activity level, and several other factors.

It is also WAY too high for him probably.

I guess you would have to find out if the sniper in question appreciates being put in a bag and dragged around.  Most people prefer not to have that happen while they are alive.

Good stuff.  A lot of this is the basics of small unit, special operations type movements.

However, do not make the mistake that reading this book will make you "teh awesum".  In reality, we practice the techniques CONSTANTLY so that they can be executed seemlessly and flawlessly, sans discusion or explanation.

Raptor, I agree that bodybuilding & powerlifting don't translate to tactical fitness. When I started playing hockey, for instance, I had to back out of a total powerlifting regimen because it was too brutal on my body (Lol! Yes, the 'hurt part')....

You have to be kidding me.

Hockey was what brought me to that realization as well.  It did not factor in as bad with semipro football, sprinting, etc...but hockey was killing me.  By the time I was playing AA, I knew that I was going to HAVE to lighten up a bit on trying to hold such a high bodyweight.  My competition weight was either 165 or 176 depending on the event (I am 5-5) and offseason I had been pushing the 200lb mark...while maintaining sound cardio fitness.  It was killing my joints, though.

I have bodybuilding and powerlifiting creds as well.  I trained under and with some very successful pro bodybuilders when I was in SoCal.  I also did more than my share of powerlifting and have won my share of competitions in both powerlifting and bodybuilding.  However, I do not think that they really translate to tactical fitness.  RLB...what is your thought on that?

I have found that when I stopped training specifically for those "sports" (I have a hard time calling them sports, as I know several people who are pretty successful at them who are not good overall athletes) and integrated those training methodologies into a program which gave proper time to other types of conditioning I feel much better and hurt WAY less.

And I KNOW you know what I am talking about with the "hurt" part.  Knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows....

yea but also change up what you work out. You dont want to work out the same muscle over and over and over again just because when the muscle grows back from tearing it, if you work out again youll tear that new muscle thats growing back. i usually work out on monday and tuesday and rest up on weds or i do a light work out, then i go back to working out on thursday and friday and rest up over the weekend. That way my body can get the rest it needs to grow back the muscle it torn and can grow more. I also alternate what i do, on monday i usually do the upper body and then on tuesday i run/bike. Then i do the upper on thursday and i do both the legs and the upper. I am sure that other people have different work out routines but this is mine and it works best for me, so you can make up your own plan. Also eat healthy foods, stay away from the junk and drink A LOT.

Was that response to my advice?
