Hey guys, been getting around to do this project of mine, and unfortunately, it will cost more for me to buy a machine/ rent time on a lathe than to get it made, despite being a machinist myself, so here goes.
What I want done is a recoil weight similar to the TM SOPMOD M4 SURUS, but for my Ares M4. It will be made of a few basic components; transfer rod, recoil weight, and a captive spring between the weight and transfer rod to cushion the impact onto the piston. I want it to be made of steel.
Here is the SURUS, basically, it will look the same, just slightly different dimensions for the Ares M4. Note the construction with the spring between the transfer rod and main recoil weight.
Here is the Bolt Airsoft B4A1 EBB, same concept, and note the components from 0:53 onwards. Same concept for the recoil mechanism and cushion spring to protect the piston from excessive shock.
More vids of B4A1, internals at 2:40.
How the Ares M4 stock tube and gearbox look like, to give an idea how different it is from the standard TM M4s
I will also send in this proprietary QD spring guide, which will need to be drilled out to be able to work with the rest the components.
When I get a chance from my busy schedule, I will blue print out my Ares M4, and made blueprint/ CAD drawings for the recoil unit How much will this set me back?
