Official Polls / Re: What mag sizes do you prefer?

A speed loader is compact, commanderCK! Is a bag of bb's for your numerous high-caps? besides, high caps rattle. so you sit there, be hind a tree, giving away your position with your winding and rattling but I shall be silent. Sorry if I was harsh, but how dare you question this so called "lure" of the all powerful mid-caps!?!

With your statements, I concur commanderCK and hoxy. Airsoftgi has the best layout, CS, selection, prices, and great holiday sales, too.

Airsoft News / Re: New Echo1 Guns will be available in early December.
« on: December 05, 2008, 01:08:02 AM »
Frankly, I've never been impressed with Echo 1. I've owned two Echo 1 AEG's and each one developed several major problems after about a month, even after careful maintenance and care.

I've always heard good things about PDI upgrade parts. I wonder if anyone can compare PDI's trigger to the Laylax Zero Trigger.

Airsoft News / Re: New Golden Ball BBs in stock @ Airsoft Unlimited
« on: December 05, 2008, 12:57:15 AM »
I wonder what the quantity is, though. I know the .28g is 2500. I've always found G&G BB's to be of high quality and the best deal. On airsoft gi you can get a bag of 5000 .20 (OD) for only 10 bucks. If the .20g BB's for this brand is 5000, though then it is an even better deal. But I can't really compare them all that well because I haven't used this brand before.

Those would be cool to have, but I think that they're too powerful. I always get mad when noobs whine that my gun is to good, but 400fps at 3000rpm is a different story. (I got that information from Echo 1's website) That's 50 rounds in a second! That's insane with that kind of velocity. I'll bet a person would have a bloody wound (not really bad, but really painful) after just a second of fire. I mean, what if you got hit in the face? you'd have a line of welts across it. :D It's still really cool, though. I'd just wanna be the one holding it, not screaming in pain. My friend said that he read on Echo 1's website that they were gonna try to keep the price under a 1000 bucks.

Airsoft News / Re: UPDATE: RS SVD AEG - Available for PRE-ORDER now!
« on: December 05, 2008, 12:39:16 AM »
That looks cool, but for a kid making minimum wage that looks like it would be too expensive. Besides I just spent $330 I saved up for a different airsoft gun. :D

Airsoft News / Re: Echo1 E90 RAS unit is now available
« on: December 04, 2008, 11:21:59 PM »
My friend said he was gonna get a P90, and then one of these. He said that then he would put an M203 grenade launcher on it. I'm not a realism fanatic, but to me, that's to far.

Suggestions for Field Manual / Re: Essential Field Accessories
« on: December 04, 2008, 11:06:16 PM »
Perhaps you should suggest something to carry and organize all of these things, like and assault pack or a ranger bag or something. I mean I carry a lot of these things, but I don't think any of us walk on the field carrying a heap of items or cram it in a cardboard box. I don't know. maybe something like that is too obvious. But I figured I'd suggest it.

Skirmish Reports / Re: Has anyone ever had those D'Oh! moments?
« on: December 04, 2008, 12:39:48 AM »
My moment is decent. On my team I'm known for being a though leader sometimes, and also very cautious. Were in our fort keeping lookout for the enemy when I see one of my friends not pulling his fare share on the watch duty. So I walk over and start yelling at him for not watching out as we could get ambushed and tell him to go get more ammo for the team, and then I hear a thrash. I look up and there is a gun barrel sticking in through a crack in the wall. I shouted for everyone to take cover, but then promptly got shot in the forehead. Ironic, isn't it? >:(
Luckily, we had a 3-hits-you're-dead-rule in effect. I grabbed out my side arm and ran out of the fort and chased down the attacker and "killed" him with 3 shots.

A friend of mine had probably the funniest moment I've ever seen. You see, when that person had ran up and shot me, he had another person to back him up. a fat friend of mine. We have a hidden pillbox that is half in and half out of our fort. The entrance is from the inside of the fort. The fat friend ran up to shoot through a crack also, but crashed through the ceiling of the pillbox and got stuck!  :D :D :D
We left him there and chased down the other attacker. A few minutes later we came back and all pointed our guns at him. He swiftly surrendered. A general rule of thumb: always check the weight limit.

General Airsoft Discussion / Re: What's your Team's HQ?
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:55:13 PM »
My team usually only participates in backyard wars. we have sweet gear and AEG's, but there isn't a field for us to go to... :'( So my team has this really sweet fort in the woods that we built, and it is our base and we often defend it. My friend who's huge yard we play in had a grandpa that worked in a fiberglass plant. so we have this huge 2 inch thick fiberglass tube that is our main entrance. it has a diameter of like 3 feet and is 10 feet long, so any enemy that wants to get in is noisy in the process and is then trapped crouching in the tube if we shoot at them. The only other way in or out is through a large, dense patch of pine trees. I'm 14 and i can hardly fit through, so it may as well be a wall for most adults. We also put a door made of sheet metal on the tube that bangs when opened, so we pretty much have a burglar alarm. Also we have a pillbox that hangs half in and half out of the fort. It was so well hidden that a fat friend of mine (an airsoft enemy) tried to run up and shoot at us through the walls, but he crashed through the roof and was stuck ( ;D), so he surrendered and then we helped him out.

General Airsoft Discussion / Re: Fort Riley Airsoft Team (US Army) Video
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:29:12 PM »
That's really cool. The US is the best. It would be very interesting to see what brand and model of guns each player has, and what kind of upgrades they have installed in them.

General Airsoft Discussion / Re: NOOB:Desired airsoft velocities?
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:15:24 PM »
I'd buy the rifle and install an M110 spring in it. the rifle's longer barrel will provide you with more accuracy. The best speed I think, especially for someone who is playing with less experienced players is 350-400 FPS. I think the M110 spring would get you to about 360 ish FPS. That is enough to proficiently get the job done, but Noobs don't whine as much.

Retail Stores / Re: awesome realsword SVD shooting video
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:06:16 PM »
That's cool, but I'm not very impressed. No mission parameters are going to state that you must get within 10 meters of 3 enemy toothpicks and take them out shot for shot. I realize that it's meant to be a demonstration of the accuracy, but any one that has a good AEG could do that. Not in as many shots of course, but who only goes onto the battle field with one BB per opponent?

I'd be more impressed if it could be done with similar ease at a reasonably farther distance. No good sniper is going to position himself that close to the enemy. The whole point of a sniper is to have precision accuracy at a range other weapons could not achieve. I'd like to see what it could do at 30 meters. Then I'd be impressed

I don't play CQB, so I'd probably just get their vector arms MP5-A4 RAS if any kind of MP5. I'm not saying the master class is bad, but to me there would be no reason to lower my FPS so I would waste $80. For someone who plays both CQB and woodland though, it looks like a sweet deal. I've never used one, but I hear that Echo 1's MP5 RAS is arguably the best MP5 on the market.

Problem Solving / Re: horrible accuracy with dbc 6.01
« on: December 03, 2008, 07:44:13 PM »
Are you sure the barrel didn't get slightly mangled somehow? It would only take a little bit. Also, obviously it is inaccurate, but is it consistent (ex. it always curves up and to the right.)? Or, the inside could have been marred or scratched by a bad BB, dirt, or sometimes a hard cleaning rod. Also it could be barrel wobble. It isn't as common with M4's, but it could be it. I've heard of people making donut-shaped things that hold the barrel steady. This might be the problem if the inaccuracy is inconsistent. (the bb's are all over, instead of all curving up the same way). Otherwise the others are probably right. Check compression, the bucking and hopup unit, and clean and lube it. Be sure that the hop up unit is on straight and is not un-adjusting  itself.

Problem Solving / Re: fps is very low even with new spring
« on: December 03, 2008, 07:25:39 PM »
If I were you, I would get the o-ring, but I would also get a new air nozzle. You might also want to try putting a little oil in your cylinder. I don't think that's the problem, but it could help and wont hurt. Also, I've heard of people using Teflon tape on their gearboxes to make better seals. I'm not sure if it works or how to do it, but perhaps you should look into it.

Problem Solving / Paint over Orange Tip
« on: December 03, 2008, 07:18:39 PM »
I just bought a new airsoft gun, an AEG. The Flash Hider is metal and I want to paint over the orange tip. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do and/or what paint I should use? I've researched this and it is legal.

Tactics / Re: training games, what do you play to train ur team?
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:40:22 PM »
I have a team that is brand new. None of the members are noobs by any means (though we aren't experts, either) and I am the second in command. We have yet to have a serious training session together, nor are we very synchronized (yet). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do to further sharpen our skills? i feel we are far beyond target practice and gun operation, but I don't know how to train to the next level.

I only really have high-caps, but I'm getting more into the mid caps. Besides capacity, of course, they are functionally and strategically better.

I own this gun. Biggest waste of $130. Lots of people talk about how this is a good gun, so it makes me think i got a lemon. I have a 40 dollar M14 that shoots better and is about a third of the price, too.

Here's a simpler idea. Between weekend battles just take down the plywood.

what you need to do is to get a man in the coop areas. I'm not sure if your team has more than one automatic (full or semi) but if so here is the plan. one person stays behind with the better of the two automatics. Next the faster of the two people runs behind the closest coop while the first covers him by raining a ton of suppressing fire upon the enemy position. now it will be simple for the runner to navigate to the left side of the coop nearest the enemy. now the runner can fire around the corner of the coop, to the right. The runner's gun doesn't have to be as accurate as the other, because he will be so close. now the plywood will backfire, trapping them, as rushing or staying will be useless. Their only decent option will be retreat. If the expose themselves to the first man's perspective he can cut them down. If they simply laterally retreat (going towards the extraction point) the your team can crouch/run in front of the plywood, and then it would work in your favor.

P.S.: If you only have one automatic, give it to the runner. The first man should have the most accurate springer, so then he can keep the enemies heads down with precise fire. Also, you could implement the useless member of your team into the plan. Have him move to the right within the entrenchment, so the he is at a strategic location and he can be a distraction.

Tactics / Re: What are some of your playing styles?

I value stealth above all. A person with a crosman pistol could hit a person with a minigun with just a bit of quick thinking and quiet footsteps. Not that I sneak around with a walmart gun. I prefer to sneak up on enemies with my GR-16 Carbine. :)

I live in northern Wisconsin, so I have to order guns online or drive like 50 miles. I usually order from Airsoft GI.
