I feel old. People who don't know what Alice gear is?! It's like asking an older guy if the internet was in black and white when they were kids. haha

The way I see it, all airsoft guns are almost the same. They all throw BBs like the next one. As long as you find one that matches your budget, any one will do. It comes to preference and play style. If you play indoors, you'd want something with a shorter barrel and a collapsible stock. For outdoor play, the opposite.
Is there any advantage to buying an AK over an M16? Not particularly. Just find something you like, and can afford. Good luck

Tactics / Re: Shortdog's book club Update (June 21) ((changed))
« on: April 05, 2013, 11:59:56 AM »
Read a new one. Audio book over the last week of commuting. GREAT BOOK. Not so much about tactics, but gives you a rare look inside the head of SEAL.

American Sniper written by Chris Kyle.
I've been wanting to read this for a while, but Kyle's recent murder made me feel like I needed it read it.
Kyle is very frank about his experiences in war, and in his personal life. Describing why he enjoyed killing people in combat, and how it drew him away from his family.
Some of the stories include his longest confirmed kill, 2,100 meters, the first death of a team mate and how he felt responsible, and his own personal relationship with god.
He is steadfast in his beliefs about who he is and what he has done, 100%. Kyle was a complex man, who talks about all kinds of his experience. Some which civillians will be able to understand, some that only veterans will get, and some that only the people in his platoon will fully grasp.
It's an amazing read, and after finishing it, I feel like I have a much better understanding of how SEAL teams work on a person to person level. And I feel like I know Chris Kyle, the irony and shame of it is that I after reading this, I would love to sit down and talk to him.

I highly suggest reading this.

The NCO Club / Re: Anyone here an actual NCO?
« on: April 04, 2013, 04:46:33 PM »
It's a world of change. You're part of the club now. I got my ass beat down once I put on my stripes! I wasn't with my unit, we were on a FOB in Afghanistan, so I had a bunch of infantry NCOs put me through the ringer. Then when I got back to my unit on Kandahar, MY NCOs tried to "bring me into the fold" they had nothing on those Guam Grunts.

Oh man. I still keep my woodland gortex in my truck for what it's cold out. It's saved my ass so many times...and gotten me some numbers ;)
Having my rank on it must add to the sexy factor

Clothing/Gear / Tested headsets
« on: April 04, 2013, 12:57:49 PM »
So I've tried lots and lots of different head sets over the years, and with my triumphant return to the world of airsoft, I find myself in need of a new headset to match my midland FRS radios: http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/midland/midland-gxt-710-vp3.aspx

I really liked the frogman devgru headset that I had, but it broke very easily and I'm hesitant to buy another one.

For work purposes I've been using a clear ear coil (secret service style), and it works great. But the PTT is inconvenient and I don't want anything physically inside my ear.

Any suggestions as to what I should start looking into?
Thanks bros

Clothing/Gear / Re: need some ideas for a swat loadout?
« on: April 04, 2013, 12:49:48 PM »
Studies show that OD blends better in light AND dark conditions better than black. Some SWAT teams dont want to appear too military. So they might go with OD or black. Multicam is popular, so is old school woodland.

Military PT is not really designed to make you more effective in combat. Yes it's important to BE physically fit for the fight, yes the more fit you are the better off you'll be in combat. But the more fit you are, the better off you'll be in everything. I've never met any one who wanted to be fatter, or less athletic.

Team PT is fine, if you have a group of friends who want to better them selves. Will it pay off while playing airsoft? More than likely, but it will be in the distance your team can travel at the start of the game, or the amount of stuff they can carry if you play milsim.

My old team used to always make me and a few other young guys the front runners. Being active duty and pretty fit, we could get to the fight quicker and report back intel before the other team thought that we could get there.
So go for it, but don't burn your team out.

« on: April 03, 2013, 04:38:10 PM »
Ok, so this time I should be back for a while. I have the time to post and read forums, and the desire to start playing again!

If any one remembers me, I posted a lot when I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm out of the Army now, and working in the film industry in Hollywood CA. I haven't played airsoft in 2 years, but I still have an assload of guns and want to get back into playing.
good to be back on ASR!

Another NCO checking in. Army, 2 deployments.
best advice, put your joes before yourself. You should be seen as practically superhuman. If they don't see you bleed, they know it's not ok for them to bleed.
I use bleed to mean a lot of things. Wine, cry, slack off, be complacent, **** like that.

I really dont care for digi pattern anything...but if I had to chose, UCP would be my preference. It looks like it will blend into my environments more.

I was in germany for two years, and I never had a response from a germany player. For some reason they ignored all my emails, and I could never get a real answer from any one in a position of authority. I know there needs to be an F stamp to certify that it only shoots at a certain FPS, I never heard about the semi auto only. They sell AEGs in Frankfurt that I've seen, they didnt speak enough english to help answer my questions though.
i don't see why an asian site wouldn't send parts to europe.
