Read a new one. Audio book over the last week of commuting. GREAT BOOK. Not so much about tactics, but gives you a rare look inside the head of SEAL.
American Sniper written by Chris Kyle.
I've been wanting to read this for a while, but Kyle's recent murder made me feel like I needed it read it.
Kyle is very frank about his experiences in war, and in his personal life. Describing why he enjoyed killing people in combat, and how it drew him away from his family.
Some of the stories include his longest confirmed kill, 2,100 meters, the first death of a team mate and how he felt responsible, and his own personal relationship with god.
He is steadfast in his beliefs about who he is and what he has done, 100%. Kyle was a complex man, who talks about all kinds of his experience. Some which civillians will be able to understand, some that only veterans will get, and some that only the people in his platoon will fully grasp.
It's an amazing read, and after finishing it, I feel like I have a much better understanding of how SEAL teams work on a person to person level. And I feel like I know Chris Kyle, the irony and shame of it is that I after reading this, I would love to sit down and talk to him.
I highly suggest reading this.
