Looks like a Beryl.

That was more or less the inspiration for this gun when I put it together.  And Apotheosis, that was me at first too.  Every time I look at it, I like the paint a little bit more.

New camo scheme I decided to try out with my airbrush.  While it came out exactly like I wanted, I'm not sure I like it.  Rustoleum khaki for the base and a custom mix of Tamiya acrylics for the brown.  And before you ding me for the unpainted stock, just realize I have a particular aversion to painting a $70 accessory before I decide whether or not to keep the paint scheme.

Thanks, Shwell.  It was actually inspired by some of your sponge paintjobs; I just thought I'd use the spray paint the way it was intended ;D

My KWA SR10, painted to blend with the Arizona high desert scrub.  This is my attempt at a sprayed-on camo that gives a splotchy (but blended) effect similar to the sponge technique.

Messing around on the field after a game.  I always wanted to know how it felt to be a tactical trunk monkey... ;D

If you want the front end, I've been thinking about changing it out for something a little shorter.  Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

The gun is built almost from scratch from an AGM 416, but it was a surprisingly simple build.  This is pretty much all that I bought for externals:

Madbull Noveske body
Madbull JP Rifles Front End Conversion
G&P Motor Grip
Clone Eotech
Clone Magpul AFG
Clone Magpul ACS Stock
Clone PRI Industries BUIS

The buffer tube, selector switch, and rear sling plate are all that is left from the 416.

Because I went ACM on everything but the body and front end, the build didn't cost as much as it could have.  Also, because it is converted from another gun, I can't really give you an accurate total cost.  However, all those parts came to around $400.

And, actually, there is no tan part on that gun that matches any other tan part :D

Thought I'd throw my current gun up here as well.

So when are these going to be released?  I agree with Booligan; they look pretty interesting.

Mixed it up with a desert DPM and OD combo for a contractor look.  Kitlist upon request.

...and HDR just for the hell of it.  Forgive the watermarks; I'm a cheap bastard and I don't feel like upgrading from the free version of the software.

Decided that, instead of taking all that time to sand paint off, I would just paint the gun silver.  By holding the spray can farther away from the gun than normal, I actually got a rougher texture in the paint.  It ended up very much like bead-blasted aluminum and happened to color match the real bare metal already on the gun (trigger, barrel).  Now, I just have to find out how durable that finish is... ;) I have heard of using a clear ceramic coating or clear automotive lacquer to protect bare metal finishes; anyone know where to get that kind of thing?

I moded mine with ARC mooting and a set of nicer pads.

Just about to pick up a set of the same ACM Comtac II's, so I must ask; what is ARC mooting, and is there a big difference with the new pads?

We already have a thread for this sort of thing.  http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=33596.1025
Pretty decent impression, though.  At least you have the right PC for a Marine loadout (and no huge, colorful patches ;) )

Thanks for all the kind words, guys.  More are in the works.

@Mace - If you want 'em, they can be had for $60. :D

@MG42 - I've been looking for more wood like that forever and I can't find any.  If I do, I'll let you know.

@kep - I have never tried it, but I'd be happy to.  Don't know where to get that kind of wood in 1/4" sheets, though.

@yetifas - Yep, all of the sets are burl wood except for the top ones.

Amboyna Burl (my personal favorite)

I have been woodworking for about 5 years now, and out of all the stuff I make, grips are the most fun. Not sure if it's the exotic woods I get to work with or what, but I really enjoy it. Anyway, I have all of these grips up for sale for $60 per set (includes shipping). They are made and finished by hand, and I go to painstaking length to make sure every set is perfect.  I can make them to pretty much any specifications (e.g. species of wood, tapered or magwell bottom cut, finger grooves, etc.) and for most gun types, but I've only tried the 1911 stuff so far.  My only limitation (due to a lack of CNC) is that I can't make anything with a compound cut or wrap-around grip. This would include the Sig P220 series and the Desert Eagle.  However, I am in the process of trying some M9 grips; just trying to find some original plastic ones to make a template from.  As I make more, I will be sure to post some pictures up here.  Also, if anyone wants to try and make some, I would love to see other people's work...maybe exchange some ideas and get a little inspiration.

I don't think it's a 5 inch slide, Mace; the Tactical 5.0 slides have the little swept cutout on the bottom front.  It's either gonna be an STI Nighthawk 4.3 (KSC-made airsoft version) or an STI Tactical 4.15 (real-steel version) for the full names.  The STI Edge is just called the STI Edge.

Not entirely sure what you mean that I'm missing a word Azn, but I hope that does it. ;) I still think I nailed it the first time...you nitpicky SOB, you...

I want to say it's an STI Nighthawk, but I don't know for sure.  That Texas logo on the side makes an STI gun for sure, just not positive on the model name (could also be an STI Edge or STI Tactical).  The only major differences from the stock gun are the strikeface, supressor, and some kind of extended cocking handle mounted to the rear sight.

can i haz cookee naow?

I was looking for a new project gun when I came across this:

I absolutely love the look of this gun, and I wanted to try and replicate it in airsoft form. I already have access to a Classic Army SR-25, but do you think it would even be possible to fit aftermarket M4 parts to the body, specifically the rail system and the silvered barrel? I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, but I've never seen it done before this picture. Is the delta ring/body mounting thread even close to a normal M4? Hoping to get some info from those with SR-25's, if possible.

Took a queue from this guy and decided to finish my tactical Air Force PT loadout, cuz "aier force r bettur!"

JK, lol.  My AFROTC det hasn't given us our ABU's yet, so we have to wear PTs for AEF training.  Was gonna wait to show off my gearwhore side to the det, but I decided "f*ck it...we'll do it live!"  I am wearing a SERPA dropleg on my right leg; you just can't see it.

Kitlist upon request. ;D

I couldn't tell you who makes the airbrush, to be honest.  However, the compressor you linked to is the exact same one that I own.  The ModelExpo site carried all the replacement parts for the airbrush when I bought it, at least.  They were selling the set I linked to for much cheaper back then, as I remember; I think I got the airbrush and compressor for like $150 bucks.  I couldn't say no. ;) Whenever this airbrush dies, though, I will probably get an Iwata similar to yours; they are excellent quality pieces of equipment.  Also, the combo you linked to is a great choice for anyone with a little bit of experience; I would actually recommend that one over my link.

The paints I use (other than basecoats and primers) are all acrylics, mostly Tamiya and Gunze Sangyo.  If you are familiar with scale model building, those should be very familiar to you.  They are easy to clean up, easy to fix if you make a mistake, and have yet to negatively react with any other paint I use.  They are very durable, especially with a good primer and clearcoat.  The only problem with them is the fact that you have to do some checking to make sure you're buying the right colors for certain patterns.  That's why I think I'll paint the Multicam job with Duracoat products.

@gaspedalpump - If you are looking for an airbrush, compressor, or both, look at this: http://www.modelexpo-online.com/product.asp?ITEMNO=AS186CB  I bought that set almost a year and a half ago, and it's still running strong.  The airbrush is durable enough that you can learn and mess around with it without worrying about it crapping out on you.  The compressor is amazing, too; the tank on the bottom gives you a constant, vibration-free flow of air that you can't always get with the smaller ones.  Quality-wise, this hardware is as good or better than anything Paasche puts out, and for much cheaper.

@DHM87 - Thanks, and there is no better way to paint.  My next project is going to be painting a SG Barrett in Multicam with some Duracoat.  I'm hoping that it hasn't been done before. :P  As far as my experience goes, a good automotive primer works best for keeping any paintjob on a gun, whether or not it's plastic.

Thanks, all.  It was a really fun paintjob to do; I'm glad people like it.
