General Airsoft Discussion / Re: My take, after a 7 year hiatus
« on: January 14, 2013, 08:19:40 AM »
I stopped reading at "curant". Honestly, hard to take you seriously when you fail basic english skills. You've found the perfect site though.

IDK about you, but gunfighters has alot more posts and 99.99% of them are extremely beneficial to our sport with scientific proof and all, congrats on making yourself look like an idiot.

As far as all this I agree and disagree on some things. For many many years (6-7) ive helped planned and organize events and local games, as well run a team, manage online forum, and still manage to have play time. Granted Im not able to play as much as I used to, but that comes from being active duty. No matter what though, my gear is always on standby and even a 3 hour notice I will be out to help and play any game no matter the size or group age.

The majority of this sport is now advertised to the younger generation of CoD players, and thats fine. The local fields are majority ruled by that younger generation, and thats fine. I still will attend those games merely for the fact that I love getting all age groups involved in our sport. If I can lead a new guy whether hes 13 or hes 40 around and show him the ropes, I have a great time. I would stretch as far as saying I like it more than actualy playing.

On the topic of FPS limits and such. Yes I understand higher FPS limits should be allowed, but only in some cases. I am a strong believer in my sub 380fps guns and the only gun I own currently that is above is a project snow wolf barrett with an end goal of 580fps for privately set up and organized games. Indoors, I dont think anyone should ever need anything over 350fps on .2s merely for the fact that I have seen alot of bad injuries due to hot guns and neglegent use. I myself have been subject to neglegence and general irresponsibility. Everyone no matter who it is age or otherwise will at some point screw up, disobey the rules, and subsequently pay the sacrafices. The lower fps will somewhat help counter the possible injuries and lessen them to tollerable levels without putting a damper on the game.

Locations have also been becoming less and less, and I will once again agree that the CQB craze has picked up something hardcore in the past 3-4 years. Alot of my local stompping grounds have been closed to public access or the owners have sold the properties. That doesnt mean I dont I dont still try to plan games and help find locations for others to play even if I am 3000 miles away from home. Locations are easy to find, you just need to network locals and drive around and do recon. Once you have your own place, plan your own games. Start with facebook or something, start inviting everyone you know, bite the bullet go to other local fields and talk to the owners and pitch the idea to them about setting up an 18+ game.

Quit whining, Participate in local events, Do your homework, And get out and get trigger time.

As for gear sets, as said before XYT is a good set Ive ran them in a couple of my guns before. Nothing with the strength you have but they were strong and made a good material... As for the gear breaking where it did, Ive never had that issue so I cannot be of help

The NCO Club / Re: Anyone else have any 2,3,4 wheeled hobbies?
« on: May 14, 2012, 06:46:18 PM »
Wheeled hobbies of mine? um I like working on cars, riding ATVs, done some pit crew work for a buddy of mine during his race season. I did a semi-restoration of a 1972 honda trail 70 which was a $50 barn find. After moving I havent really ridden ATVs or dirtbikes much. Over last few months I helped a buddy drop a new motor in his Integra and do various tuning and such.

Im looking into purchasing an VW GTI this next year and doing a light build on it and driving it from GA to CA and back, thats gonna be my latest dive into wheeled hobbies

Something to look into that i did to my M4 build was purchase an AJAX STS its a piece that goes between the GB and the body and around the hop up unit. it basically reinforces the front of the GB for use with high FPS high ROF guns. It also helps stabilise the hopup some and prevent some twisting. I purchased it from http://www.tacticalairsoftsupply.com/shop/ajax-customs-shock-transfer-system.html and i have been more than happy with it.

That looks pretty legit... The new finish is deffinately 100x better than the original

I use white bbs (same weight/brand) mixed with black to check the trajectory and even in games.
It's just a matter of how you want your shots to be "stealth".
70% black & 30% white combination is good for me in my experience.

This is usually what i do when i have black BBs. It works, you just gotta live with black BBs and thats one way to make living easier

A normal length M4 with the proper upgrades can perform the same as if you were to build an M16 or an M4/mock mock suppressor... Ive used a CA CQBr with a M733 length barrel and it was plenty accurate to slap a scope on and use as a DMR. Its just personal prefference.

I would say the second link... they look to be a little better quality, and zippers can be a PITA once they get caked in mud and dirt...

also reccommend looking at this thread as theres alot of boots disscussed http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=103457.0

Weapons / Re: AR15 Variants Picture Thread
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:39:05 PM »
There's no such thing as a "free float delta ring".  More importantly you are using a barrel mounted system to keep it in place so it's completely NOT a free float rail.  I mean it looks interesting and all, but don't try to make it something it's not.

Yeah my bad... just re-read what I had typed, made myself look like an idiot right there. I know the difference between freefloated and normal rail systems are.

Heres something i put together about a year and a half ago. Base is a Dboys M16A4, i swapped the outter barrel to a standard M4a1 length though... notice the delta ring isnt a free-float type, the mount for the rails up front is what keeps everything together kinda a M16SBR-thing...
