FYI boys, there is no "perfect" camo pattern. we were finding in recent deployments in the Helmand province that woodlands were more effective than our deserts because there was more vegetation in afghan than a lot of people thought, and it provided excellent concealment for both us AND them. however, there was still a lot of areas that were better for desert, and the enemy doesn't afford you time to change cammies. the army tried out mixing brown in their older "moon" cammies to be more effective in afghan, then started using multicam strictly for units deploying to afghan. the jury's still out on their official pattern so far as i know. you won't see any one service agreeing anytime soon on a single pattern for all services like the old woodland and tri-color deserts because each service is funded differently and is geared for different missions. there are also different schools of thought for the conduct of warfare (case in point, the marines focus more on cover than concealment in urban warfare, thus camo in MOUT is a moot point).
