In woodland environment but don't like woodland camo
« on: July 26, 2011, 01:34:48 AM »

I will be playing in a woodland environment.
But I can't stand woodland camo, what are my options?.

The way I see it is you can do the following:
1: if you know where the other side are then use the terrain to your advantage, eg dead ground etc, to get close enough to them to surprise them
2: wear plain green rather than any camo patterns
3: just wear what you like as, in my experience, many airsofters wouldn't see you if you wore a bright pink tutu (molle loops optional  ;))

If you dislike M84 Woodland (The US woodland pattern), you've got loads of options. TAZ 90, Cadpat, Marpat, AOR II, Multicam, Tiger Stripe, DPM, Flecktarn the works. As Limey said, even OD green. I've got a pair of OD green pants from MOC, and love them. Cheap too. You've made a ton of topics though, so watch yourself. Look at the pattern, and look at the area you play in.

This. Multicam basically is invisible in Woodland areas. Especially with brush and stuff to hide in, invisible.

Multicam is good IF u dont move alot. If you sit still people cant see you. Like the other weekend I was even moving (very slow like though) The guy spotted me and fired missed but I had already dropped down, and even though he saw me dive, down he lost me. Even at a distance he said ( was out of engagement) He could make my out my squad moving barly along a sun light ridge as soon as we would stop he lost us. I would go Multicam man.

What part of the country are you in? In north Texas, MARPAT and multicam probably work best in the woods, MARPAT better in the fall when things start going brown. And standard woodland and OD work well too.

When I was using my Multicam gear last weekend, I was sitting in some brush waiting on someone to walk up, or walk by me..move slowly and you're pretty much not going to be seen. Besides..who runs around and tries to ambush everyone? Other than my buddy Hunter, who gets shot every time.

Effective camoflague and concealment is down to far more than simply what you are wearing. Using your suroundings to your advantage and knowing when to move and how is more important. In general for effective concealment you should remember the 5 S's
Shape,
Shine,
Shadow,
Silhouette,
Sound

Master these and you will be well on the way to getting a rep for being able to dissappear

I wear flecktarn, it is in my opinion the best looking modern camo and it blends in great with woodland/ greenish environment. I have also found that it makes for some fantastic night camo.

And did I mention its cheap?
