Looking to get an MP5 of some form.
« on: November 13, 2011, 09:15:59 PM »

Ok so rather than the post I had up before stating im looking for a CQB gun, I decided some tactical form of an MP5 is what I want.

Now my issue is deciding between the cornucopia of manufacturers.

I am looking to stay around $200 or less. I do not want to look into the upper brands like TM.

I want it to be full metal as well as a retractable stock but I may settle for a folding one.

Currently what is coming out on top for me is the JG MK5A5 or the Echo 1 Vector Arms MK5A5.

I have had 2 JG guns in the past and am not really sure I want another. Both had their problems. (BAR-10/AUG A2).

The Echo 1 worries me though due to the stated FPS it would seem I will have to replace the spring.

I am open to any and all suggestions and greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Consolidate your posts. No need to make a new post every time you get a slight change of idea on what you want to get. This could easily be a part of your other thread.

For 215 you can get an ics mp5, ull need to buy a battery and charger, but the extra money will be worth it.

My apologies sir, I had made the mistake of thinking I deleted my other post. Please remove the other thread if possible. I did not mean to spam the board.

I cant seem to find a MK5 from ICS for under $300 with the features i want.

Any links to a good place of purchase?

I believe this is what you are looking for this is the same model I have except an ABS plastic body instead of metal. Very good gun readily available for upgrades and magazines rugged design and you have the option of a C-style mag for when you wanna get nasty in CQB if you have any questions or would like pictures of my MP5 please message me.

Does this look about right?

Definitely more on the ball. I really was interested in the RIS system though. to add it aftermarket is pretty pricey isnt it?

Is the ICS one you linked me too compatible with all standard upgrade parts for MK5s? (its also out of stock)

It has quite a few upgrades havnt opened the gear box yet. If you get a tightbore and a new bucking you could easily reach out and touch somebody out to about 130-150 FT havn't done an actual test yet. it's a little bit of a pain to put rails on it but that's not really a big dead I personally do not use to many other sighting devices so you should be fine. overall I got mine for 90$ second hand friday and I am in love with it. Make sure you buy extra mags you tend to go through 200 rounds pretty fast on auto.

Yea as much as id like to get an "upper level" model I think im sticking between the ECHO 1 and the JG types. I just don't know if it is worth it to get the vector arms over the JG.

That was my first AEG. Spring is way too hot for the internals to last and the hop-up is crap, but it's metal (pot metal at that)

I realize this. but its the only gun i know of that meets his wants. Unless the cyma has a lower fps. Ill actualy check up on that and post a link if hes interested.

Edit: the spring looks to be the same from airsoftgi's description. But here is the link.

And if he's willing to downgrade the spring out of the box to say, a m110, then the whole system should last for a while. Not as long as TM or ICS, but a good amount.

I was actually planning on doing that, but since i already have a p90 i decided not too.

One of my friends had the vector arms with the full stock and it gave out pretty quickly, but i dont know how well of care he gave it.

The real MP5 isn't full metal so you will always have some plastic, no matter what make you go for. Also have you considered the second hand market? You may be able to pick up a used high end gun within your budget

Ok so I think I'm willing to shell out for this model due to my poor experiences with cheap brands.

 http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-ICS-MP5-19.htm

Is there a cheaper place to purchase it?

That ICS is cheaper on both evike and ASGI. You can get a coupon code for ASGI (just google it) and that will most likely end up being the best price.

How about a Kurz? Galaxy makes a great TM MP5K clone.

I found the Galaxy MP5K is an ok gun but needs work to make it a good gun. Also like many ACM guns it would probably need a spring downgrade to be used in a CQB environment

Agreed. Main selling point is being a cheap TM clone.

I wouldn't go with JG for anything unless you're swapping out every single part (including the overpowered springs)

Why can't you just go with CA or TM only???
Buy it used and you can get a great package for around $200. Might as well get something good instead of halfway decent if you're going to spend about the same

If you're willing to throw in an extra 30 bucks I'd buy an ICS MP5 SD6 and a UTG "SWAT" top rail (I think that was the name of the top rail but I'm sorry I don't remember).  It's definitely UTG.  The rail will give you the space you"re looking for on the top and one side, and like ghost sniper said the ICS MP5 is a good decision.  Full metal, collapsable stock, durable, higher performance, and if you get the SD6 it comes with a hollow metal screw-off mock silencer.
