Firefight advice
CodeSmith:
Thanks for the tips guys!
I wrote that in response to the two situations I encountered yesterday. One was where I couldn't flank my opponent because I was the only one defending our fortification, and the other one was where I was pinned down behind the only cover available (a rather small rock), so flanking wasn't an option, but I should have clarified that, sorry. I also REALLY like my scope. I've tried others and the 3x really improves my accuracy at longer ranges (which is where I shoot the most). But you have a valid point, specter. I think I'm gonna break down and buy a new pistol (My old g17 broke) for those closer situations.
lulukchoo23, that's awesome. It's also kinda ironic because I just found this earlier today:

What I learned:
Get a pistol for closer situations
Flank when possible
Don't fire blind shots
Thanks for all the help guys!
TheFerrett:
Snap shoot: Pop out quickly take a couple of shots then get back into to cover.
(Back up from whatever cover you are behind so you have enough room to shoulder your weapon then pop out it'll reduce your reaction time)
Team work: Tell your friends our the nearest person who's not opfor to lay down some fire.
Different angles: Never come out the same side twice in a row.
Keep moving: the moment you stop moving is the moment when the opfor pins you down and eliminates you (exaggerated but you get my point)
This has pretty much already been covered in previous posts but I thought i'd sum it all up.
EDIT: I've seen a few gun setups where they have a holographic site on with a 3X magnifier behind it and it was on a switch mount so they could move it quickly out of the way when needed. Maybe you could look into that.

what world are you from...
RS combat IS blind fire/spray and pray
in WWII the US expended 25,000 rounds per enemy kia
Korea was 50,000
and by Vietnam when almost every solder got to "rock and roll" it was 200,000
this is why we dont

ADVICE #2: Blind fire is useless to you and dangerous to other players.

you have learned nothing
points
Its airsoft, no one is scared about dieing or even geting hurt
the player on the receiving end isn’t worried about dieing, they tend to return fire with more abandon rather then pressing thier face in the mud and taking up religion.
learn to shoot, AS combat happens @ mostly RS handgun range, why do you need a 3x scope? it slowing you down(as you have noted)
point your toy gun in the directoin to the enemy and pull the trigger, watch the flight of the bbs, and move the stream on to the target. I under stand you like your scope, but you are using it as a crutch, getting rid of it will force you to improve your game, and yes it will take some work, nothing worth doing is easy.
lastly...if they know were your are, why would you stick you head out? its time to move stick you head out of the same spot more then one time, expect it to be taken off.. its a game of flinch, first one to pull back around the coner loses, leaing the winner with there sites trained on were the losers head will next pop out.

Limey:
If you're defending a position alone moving between fire positions can also give the attackers the impression there is more than one of you and can stall an attack which would come quickly if there are multiple attackers
ablahblah:
If the enemy has their sight on you, they have the immediate advantage because you have to take time to aim at them, while they do not. IF aware of that, you should do whatever you can to take that advantage away from them. This can be done in many ways.
ex:
- flanking
- bursting out of cover quickly, immediately moving to a new position, and THEN firing (both you and your enemy have to re-acquire each other)
- distractions, e.g. have another team member take aggro, throw a thunder B, etc.
- surprise the enemy with another team member in your area
The goal is to just force them to change their scope position and then hit the trigger, instead of just having them click the trigger, giving you fair time to get your bead on them.
