Current Price on ICS M4 Anniversary Editions
Yams:
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how to price my ICS M4 2006 Anniversary edition M4. It has full metal upper and lower receivers as well as fully licensed Olympic Arms trademarks. It's number 200 something out of 1,000 making it, in my head, a fairly rare item. It has many internal and external upgrades, but I just wanted to know; What's the absolute base price of this gun?
Thanks,
Yams
SVT Cobra:
Its hard to give you an estimate really. It depends on so many factors such as:
1.) Condition of the externals, internals
2.) What kind of upgrades did you install? Who installed them? What brand parts were used?
3.) How many rounds through the gun?
4.) What is included with the gun?
5.) Is it painted or unpainted?
The list goes on and on. Generally speaking, you can expect to get somewhere around 30% of what you paid. Say for example, your gun cost $250 brand new, then expect the price to start at $75 assuming the gun is in great condition both internally and externally, and includes what ever came with it when it was boxed new. This is not really rule, just a guideline based on my experiences. It sounds like you will have to find the right buyer if you want to really market the anniversary edition, trademarks, and serial number. Someone looking for a a simple M4, wont pay you extra for those features. To get the most money you will need to find someone who wants exactly a 2006 ICS M4 Anniversary edition. Finding this buyer will be tough because most people dont really care for special editions of AEGs :-\.
In the end your gun is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If I had to take a stab at it, I would say your gun is probably going to bring in $100 assuming is in great condition and it includes the factory accessories. In your particular case, I dont really see anything special with the fact that its an anniversary edition or licensed by Olympic Arms. I am not trying to belittle your gun, im just saying I personally wouldnt pay more for that. Special editions, trade marks, and serial numbers generally wont help an AEG retain its value.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the reply!
To answer the list of criteria you gave me (which hopefully you'll be able to make a better judgement of the price) I filled it out.
1.) Condition of the externals, internals: All excellent. Everything internally has been replaced except for the gearbox shells and hop-up which are proprietary. No inner barrel changes.
2.) What kind of upgrades did you install? Who installed them? What brand parts were used?: Bought a Guarder tune up kit (Cylinder, aluminum double o-ring cylinder head, piston, spring guide), stock tappet plate and air nozzle (proprietary) and then a systema piston head. In the lower gearbox it has G&P gears, G&G bearing bushings, King Arms wire set wired to rear and with deans connectors w/ trigger switch, JG Super high torque motor. All upgrades and installation of parts were done by me. I'm the airsoft smith at my local field so I usually do repairs.
3.) How many rounds through the gun?: I'm not even sure. I can say there's a lot. Maybe 10-20,000.
4.) What is included with the gun? Externally (from stock to muzzle), it has a Dboys clubfoot stock as well as a buffer tube, JBU tactical charging handle latch, ICS brand two-piece RIS w/ rail covers, custom chopped front sight gas block, MP7 sights, buttpad. I've put a lot of money into it. Not sure if that matters. I've put around $500-600 into it (replacement hop-ups, air nozzles, upper gearboxes (only have one that's included with the gun).
5.) Is it painted or unpainted? Completely original. All unpainted.

I think with the right buyer, you could probably get $300 - $350 for it (I am assuming the base price is somewhere near $250). If you can leverage your reputation as an air-smith, you might be able to get more.
Now keep in mind, I could be totally wrong. You might be able to $600 easy, or you might struggle to get $100. However, $300 is what I would expect to be a fair trade if you put $500 - $600 in upgrades, not including the base price. Again I am just one opinion lol.
I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks a lot for the assistance, I really appreciate it. The base gun was 370 or somewhere around there, if it helps.
