VFC 416 electrical issue.
« on: March 26, 2012, 11:02:17 PM »

Hello asr, my buddy recently gave me his vfc 416 saying that if i fix it i can have it. This gun is several years old but completely stock internally. I am trying to avoid taking it in to the local store for repair, so i thought i would ask for advice. My friend said something is wrong with the wiring. I thought to check the fuse, but i can't seem to find it even after removing the buffer tube. Any tips on checking the wiring? All wires seemed to be in tact. I cannot find a decent take down guide for this gun either. When plugging in the battery no noise is made and the battery is charged. The battery is a King Arms 11.1V 1100mAh battery. Any advice would be appreciated.

It more than likely doesn't have a fuse to begin with. Remove the motor from the grip and hook it up outside the gun. Does the motor spin? In terms of a take down guide, it's going to be similar to any other AR variant.

What do you want to bet the lack of a fuse might have contributed to the problem :/

Anyway, there are a few youtube videos that could help. Just search for the vfc specific one, because there might be slight differences in its construction. My buddy has a VFC SCAR, and even though it has all common version 2 parts internally, the outside of the gearbox shell is proprietary and technically disassembles differently than version 2 ARs (which isn't really that shocking, since a SCAR Mk16 isn't actually an AR)

*UPDATE*

The problem was the red wire to the motor was not connected. However i can't seem to get it to stay. Any tips or suggestions on keeping it in place? I was thinking of using electrical tape to keep in in place, but thought to ask the forums first.

If I have that problem, I gently squeeze the plug with some pliers to close the gap a bit. Only need to do it a tiny bit, just enough so it's a little bit tighter on the motor connector.

What Booligan suggested is probably the easiest way to do it, but if you are quite the handy man, you could also solder the contact points (but have a soldering iron on hand just in case you need to remove it in the future) and it will do the trick
