Compression Issues
« on: April 02, 2012, 10:08:59 AM »

So I played my first game yesterday after about a year-long hiatus. My current AEG is having compression issues; here are the specs for the air-system:

-Very old TM piston head
-Stock CA cylinder head
-Type 0 systema cylinder (510mm inner barrel)
-Prometheus air nozzle
-Stock CA hop-up chamber
-Guarder bucking (still works fantastically)
-Element H-nub
-Prometheus 510mm inner

Now the airsoft market is always evolving, are there any new brands that I should look out for, or are the staples (Guarder, Prometheus, Modify, etc) still the high standards? I'm looking for a really tight seal, and after a year this gun really needs a tune-up. I am looking to definitely replace the cylinder head and piston head; I've put probably over 30 hours of work into the gun alone, so I'm by no means a novice to internals, but I've lost my touch in the mechbox world. Any pointers?

Although I don't have any expience with them. I hear that SHS parts are very good and I'd check them out.

Ish, did you lubed cylinder after a year long break? Since you already have a good nozzle I suggest you to purchase such SHS set and that would work pretty well.

The O-ring on your very old TM piston head might be dried out. Also, check your hop up unit. Most people over look it, but that's a common place to lose a little bit of compression.
