Seems good, I've been looking for a similar set-up. Does anyone think the battery could fit in a buffer tube?

Measure, remeasure, then remeasure again. Dimensions are the 1st thing I look for in lipos - if it won't fit, don't bother.

On another note, I think Turnigy Nano-Techs on HobbyKing.com are much better quality batteries (and much cheaper as well).

I too stand by the Turnigy nanotech series of lipos. They're great and super cheap.

Also, if you need a charger recommendation, I wrote a review on mine. http://www.illinoisairsoft.com/index.php?topic=14339.0

Good point. Been poking around HobbyKing and been shaving pieces of paper to get an idea of what would fit my crane stock and what wouldn't

Note to self: When digging through packs on Hobbyking, put "airsoft" into search
Other note to self: appears max size limits are roughly 20mm x 13mm x 140mm
More notes: To nunchuck or not to nunchuck... nunchuck allows for larger mAh and will fit for maybe 50 cents more...
Additional notes: holy crap these are good prices
Extra notes: stop rambling in forum thread...

One other thing, I know I'll probably never need to have a fuse in-line, but for paranoia's sake, would it be better to put the fuse on the positive wire or the negative?
It's been years since I had an electronics course, so I'm completely blanking on how charge flows from a battery to the load and back

Current flows from negative to positive, but for a fuse, I don't believe it matters. Use an automotive (blade) fuse instead of a glass (bus) fuse, they don't take up as much space and have better connectors.

Eh, you're right. Current flow is essentially instantaenous.
Don't care much for bus fuses anyway, I prefer blades because you can snag them at just about any gas station

I just need to decide on a battery from Hobbyking. Tho the size of the side tubes on my crane stock severly limits my options
Mostly eyeballing this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=17285
It's about the only one of decent power that will fit
The only thing that's stopping me is the low(ish) C rating and I have no clue how many amps my motor would want to pull

Look for the 1300mah 25C ones - best discharge, ridiculously thin. Only downside is they're 170mm long, so you won't be able to retract the stock all the way.

Eh, I'm oddball in that I prefer the stock to be as short as possible. It's why I went through the trouble of bastardizing a crane stock onto this formerly fullstock M4

Might just say "smeg it" and rig up something with a battery bag

The gun itself is an ICS M4A1(formerly fixed stock. stock motor/gb as far as I know)
The new stock is a cheap DBoys crane stock(had to go cheap due to being on birthday wishlist a month ago)

I'm used to a G36c stock which is about 2in shorter than the fixed and I'm liking being able to have an even shorter stock.

Got thinking the other night, even though I don't know the discharge rate of NiMH batteries, the 1500mAh packs I own have always lasted me a full match, so the 2000mAh packs on hobbyking might be more than plenty

16mah lasts me about a full day from morning to dark in an ICS MP5, so 2000mah should be more than enough.

I'm planning on getting 2-3 anyway so even if the 2Ah pack does die I'll have spares(that and you just never know when it'll hit the fan)
I kinda doubt I'm going to need a pack with a 20+ C rating as this M4 is pretty much stock and even if I do upgrade it, I'm gonna aim for durability before fps/rof. As long as it can do at least 350fps and 10-15rps I'll be happy

I don't know how many amps this motor will need, but I'm kinda doubting it'll pull a full 30 amps unless something has gone wrong

If it's anything like the ICS gearboxes I've owned, it won't.

16mah lasts me about a full day
What is that, like 15 shots?  ;D

Depends.  Sometimes it only takes one.  8)
