How do you check the flight of black bb
« on: May 03, 2012, 03:15:49 PM »

I just want some input on how you guys check the flight of black bbs
The area I test in has a "dark back drop" so I'm able to see white bb's perfectly fine, but I can never see black ones.
I was thinking about getting some white posterboard to set up to see if that helps me.
Is there anything else you guys do?

I think your best bet would be to buy a bag of the same exact BB's, except white. Then you could either mix them together to get a 'tracer' effect or you can just use white BB's to set your sights/hop-up, then switch to black.

Did you already buy the black BBs? Because the easiest way to tell where they're going is to buy white.

I usually use a coke can as a target at range, so you can tell if the BB hits by the sound it makes. Not the best solution because it doesn't help you see the bb, but it works.

Black BB's are made so you CAN'T see them - the eye can discern the difference between other colors and white much better than other colors and black.

Go buy white BB's if you want to see them (i.e. for hopup test/range test).

I use white bbs (same weight/brand) mixed with black to check the trajectory and even in games.
It's just a matter of how you want your shots to be "stealth".
70% black & 30% white combination is good for me in my experience.

This is usually what i do when i have black BBs. It works, you just gotta live with black BBs and thats one way to make living easier

In my experience, even against a snow covered landscape black bbs are extremely difficult to see.  It probably has something to do with white ones reflecting light back into your eyes vs. black bbs simply blocking an extremely tiny portion of your field of view as they fly away from you.  The human mind has a way of "filling in" small blind spots so a dark projectile is difficult to see even if against a light background.

If your sighting in you use a paper target and walk the bbs in. You will not be able to see the actual bb but you will see were it goes through the printing paper

i was actually just outside shooting my gun,and it was loaded with mostly black bbs(not intentional,im just running low on white bbs).if you go out when its bright enough outside, and you have a semi bright backdrop, you can tell pretty easily where the bbs are going.
