A few questions aobut tightbore barrels
« on: May 30, 2012, 02:16:33 PM »

Hey guys,

I have a aks74 and would like to put a tightbore barrel in it to increase my range and accuracy.  I have two options, I could either put in a barrel that has the same length as my current barrel, or I could put in one a few inches longer and put a mock mock silencer over it.  So my question is, would it be worth the extra money to get a barrel a few inches longer?  Or if I get one the same length as my current barrel, how much would it change the range and accuracy?

Thanks.

If your increase in TBB length is not greater than 100mm, then it's not really worth it. A ~50mm increase in length won't give you an overall better accuracy.

A quality tight bore of 6.05 will be more accurate, a tight bore of 6.01 will have more power. If you get one coupled with an R-hop you will achieve both your goals. To reiterate, generally length of AEG barrels does not matter, If you get into drastic differences it will have a slight effect, (to a point) but the determining factors are quality, hop-up, and FPS consistency.

Where can I get an R-hop?  Or do I have to make one?

Can a R-hop go on a regular tightbore barrel like this one?

Any barrel, you modify the patch to fit. Do some reading on the various install manuels on ASM, see if it's something your ready to do. If you're feeling less adventurous, by the barrel set (If you want a new barrel as well that is what I would do If I were you Clandestine is OOS) or the Z kit, which only requires minimal modification and some gluing. http://clandestineairsoft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_12&products_id=161
