PWS Diablo -can I make the bolt functioning?
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:06:08 PM »

So, on the SOCOM Gear PWS model M4s, the bolt is non functioning. You can pull it back, but this does not open your gear box. You have to do that manually. Is there a way I can make the bolt functioning?

He means to make the faux bolt automatically pull back to access the hop up adjustment when the charging handle is pulled back.

WHAT?

That's how like 99% of the M4 AEG's are the market function.

What's the point of a screening process when you join if you just let trolls through anyway? By the way, acting this way when someone new to the sport asks a question will drive them a way from the sport. Way to represent. And yes, I mean the dust cover. On PWS models, the bolt does not open the dust cover like on most AEGs. I'm a newbie and even I knew that the PWS series was missing that feature which is usually standard. If you guys would like to be mature and help me, please feel free. If you'd prefer to continue to troll and upset me, troll harder because so far you have failed and done nothing but show your own ignorance. Thanks to those of you who understood and gave straight answers.

Your wording was terrible, next time properly address your question so we DON'T draw conclusions.

I honestly don't see what could be worded differently, and I'm an ex English tutor.

???????????????????

I see nothing wrong with this sentence or its structure. Perhaps I made a mistake in terms, however. After watching some vids, I discovered I was talking about the dust cover that covers the hop up adjustment.

OK that makes a bit more sense - your choice of wording was confusing.

you have to make your charging handle "grab" on the fake bolt.

you can try gluing it, or making a hole in the bolt and carry handle and putting a pin in there somehow. I haven't done it before.

The older CA M15A4s (I have one) had this same "feature", but they had half a mock bolt and a magnetic dust cover.

o_O...that...does not necessarily solve the problem.

If I'm looking at these videos correctly (
for instance), the Socom Gear PWS has no faux bolt at all, and has a reverse sprung dust cover. I'm confused as to what you are trying to do exactly. Soo, this is my take on it...:

You can swap out springs and make the dust cover act conventionally (spring out, not spring back, thus holding open the cover), but it won't lock because there doesn't seem to be a lock built-in to this one like most airsoft M4s on the market. You can get a replacement dust cover that will lock from some retailer (which should work, since most just grab onto the top of the ejection port); you'll probably need to message the retailer to confirm the dust cover has the lock included and see whether that would even fit the PWS. You would also have to have the proper tools for pulling out (and reattaching) your RAS because the pin for the dust cover is only accessible with the RAS removed (correct me if I'm wrong). But after getting your dust cover working, you would then need to figure out how to release it with the charging handle. Which can be accomplished by jerry-rigging up a faux bolt piece to nudge the cover out and undo the lock like any other airsoft gun does, causing it to spring out, and be what I'm assuming what you what it to be.

Rip off RAS, put a new dust cover on, put RAS back on, expose gearbox/charging handle, figure out some sort of way to latch a normal faux bolt onto your charging handle, reassemble, and there ya go. Not a lot of stuff to do really, just an inconvenient dose of making things work together.
