So, I'm probably going to be buying the KWA Lm4 PTR, but I'd like to read a text review rather than watch a bunch of video reviews, particularly because most video reviews are done by vendors who have a vested interest in selling the gun whereas an independent reviewer has no vested interest, they are simply reviewing a gun they purchased. I have heard that you've got to be careful with the hopup unit as the tool can break the teeth off, which I don't doubt, but I'm not worried about it, since KWA has a warranty and even if mine breaks when the gun is OUT of warranty they sell replacement parts very cheap, I redid my entire M1911 MKII for like $50 when having it done at a shop would have cost $35 an hour and it needed some serious work(it just was beat up from extensive use, and it is again beat up from extensive use).
The gun appears to have recoil comparable to that of a Rugar 10/22. Some folks are saying it has the recoil of a real AR, which is something I highly doubt, but I don't doubt it has the recoil of a semi auto .22lr being being fired rapidly. And yes, I'm aware there is not supposed to be any real steel discussion, but I'm not discussing real steel for the purpose of discussing real steel, I'm simply bringing up the amount of recoil a PTR has in comparison with a real steel firearm.
I'd also be interested in knowing, quite specifically, what sort of maintenance this gun requires, how often it needs cleaning, what supplies(chemicals, lubes, sprays, oils, whatever) are needed to perform said maintenance, and where to apply(as in, what parts) whatever materials are necessary for good upkeep.
I plan on ordering the gun today, and should I order it, I will consider it to be the Crown Jewel of my airsoft collection, and I am one of those guys who has like 20 guns, but because of a disease I have I'm really more of a collector of guns and gear at this point(it's not terminal a terminal illness, just a VERY painful genetic disorder that causes joint dislocations probably once every 2-3 weeks, the pain of a dislocation is a pain you can never get used to either, I've even dislocated my femur before, they were able to reduce it without surgery somehow) I don't have a drivers license(even though I'm going to be 21 in January) so I can't attend many games and my team is pretty unreliable, so as a side note, any Michigan Players in the Grand Rapids area who'd be willing to pick me up for games, I'd be more than happy to go and maybe even join your team, however it's important to note that July 5th I'm having major spinal surgery to address some of my pain and will be in the hospital for probably at least 2 days. SO a response to the original questions would be extremely nice if someone could provide them, even if I don't get back to you today, I will definitely have my laptop in the hospital and respond from there.
Thanks guys for reading and thanks in advance for answering my questions and hopefully finding a good text review(I've found some non-biased video reviews, just most of them aren't as good or as thorough as text reviews, particularly text reviews like you'd find waaaaaaay back in the day on ASR). It would mean a lot to me if the airsoft community supported me by answering these questions, since I don't have many friends left in the real world because my disease has caused me to alienate myself since it's really difficult to get out with them on a regular basis...I'm sure you can understand how that's been hard on me mentally, I'm hoping that this surgery will turn that around for me, but who knows.
P.S. If someone CAN find a text review, I'd be very, very appreciative if it had pictures or if someone would post some photos(by some I mean as many as they can or are willing to), if you don't want to post them to ASR, simply upload them to www.imgur.com
, no registration required and unlike photo bucket they never expire, as well you can upload as many pics at a time as you want and simply link the album, no need to post them IN the thread.
