Marushin Kar98 problems ? ( owners reply )
« on: February 16, 2006, 12:38:56 AM »

I posted a topic like this on the old forum but I didn't read or see if there were replies .
I'll refrase the question .
Has anybody had and used the Marushin K98 for more than a year .
I heard the end of the bolt breaks off after 200 shots .
And for the owners who have both tanaka Karabiner and marushin Kar98k .
Are these rifles completly the same ?
I've seen two types of rear sights on this rifle , but it's not clear to me .
I know the difference between the long barreled K98 , medium barreled Karabiner and shortest barreled Gew 33/40 .

The rifles are very different, the Tanaka one is a simpler Gas non-blowback bolt system that is detachable magazine fed, rather accurate, reliable, and has the Pegasus gas system.  The Marushin has lots of other fun addon features, but I wouldn't use it as a skirmish gun.

blowback is when the bolt on your rifle slams back and then home, without you touching it therefore creating semi auto. i dont think any k98 has it, even in real life. they are al bolt action for the most part.

OK .

There are machine guns with blowback , Shoei MG42 , they fire 500 rounds each minute .

"i want my stars back" lol

Are you from Croatia by any chance . The patch in your avatar says 'Vukovar' .

500 rounds a minute is not something to be terrebly proud of. my M4 shoots 800-900 stock.

nope, from the good old U S of A, i just saw this on a sight that sells military insignia and found it pretty baddass.

Hah , I'm from Bosnia , but I live in US .
Believe me you wouldn't want to be walking down the street with that patch  when some serb walks up to you ...then you're dead .
The serbs were massacred at Vukovar in 1993-4 .

What's better , a Marui AK47 or your M4 ?

well, to go off topic i will have to say my ak-47, simply because i can make a inacurrate conversion of a drugonov on it (not aim, just looks). but my m4 is the gen2 model so it performs maybe a little better than my ak and has far more upgrades availible.

also if you are living anywere cold, i would definatley shy away from the kar98, s your gas consumption/pressure will suffer horendously. if you are really good, you may want to take a VSR-10's guts aand put them into a hommade wooden body of a KAR98.

Your M4 doesnt boast any recoil, sound, or useful realistic features like a functional cocking mechanism and faux feeding mechanism for linked dummy rounds- added, those Shoei MG42's can be modified and cranked to do a LOT more than the speculated 500rpm

I would avoid the Marushin K98, despite build and all that jazz (which makes a really fine gun) it's really nothing more than a model and novelty item.  If you lived in a country that does not allow firearms, it might be a good investment for your WW2 collection.  Otherwise, you'll want to stick with the Tanaka;  Skirmish or Re-enactment purposes alike

When it comes to marushin K98 I'd rather buy a blank firing gun .
Those caps are 100 for $6 , not bad .
I would buy either a blank firing K98 or a real one later .
Because I'm in a re-enacting unit where I want to be like everyone else . I want to fit in . And because who we re-enact had K98s as their only weapons .

It really makes me think over buying a Walther P38 ( yea I know , historical accuracy sucks )

How would you like to go through WW2 with only a K98 ?

What is so bad about a Marushin Kar98k ? I was planning on buying one, but I guess I'll save my money.
