Game in the rain.
« on: July 14, 2006, 05:25:49 PM »

I play most of my games when it's raining, but thats because we prefer a jungle type setting. Anyway, we setup poncho's in concealed position's and then set ambushes while we wait for more guys to join. It's is a relly fun way to play.

We get super dirty, but I love it. Crawling through the mud, moving through the pucker brush, dashing through open area's, covering the squad area, ect..... We crawl through the large pond type water resivor's that collect in the feild (Ya I know sound's foolish).

Anyway, we have a good time and thats what counts.

How's the goggle foggle?   That's my biggest complaint.

Goggle fog? They get quite foggy, but only if you breathe extremely heavy on them.

What Guns do you use? I've never played in the rain with anything but springers.

I would think springers would be the only gun capable of being used in the rain and muddy conditions.  AEGs would crap out eventually.

Not true. I've played in the rain quite a bit with aeg's and lpegs's, none of which have died on me yet. You just have to be careful and not do stupid stuff like drop them in the mud.

I played in the rain last weekend with all AEG's.  Being under a forest canopy, we really didn't get wet or anything it was just cooler out, and made the expirence really fun.

AEG's can be fully submerged with no problems. I've playing in torrential rain before for hours with no internal problems.

usually springers, but sometimes we use AEG's. We get "down and dirty".

I only played in the rain once, and it was fun.  Though it was in a yard with grass so there wasnt any mud.  But we all got very wet, all of our AEGs included.

Do you wrap your guns in something? I would thing even using springers would make things rust if they got wet. I wish i could play in the rain, not enough now that its summer in CA, and noone is over(i play backyards) when it does rain. I did bring my MP5 out once in the rain, covered with a shirt, and two camo helmet covers, to snipe my moms car, and i was under a tree.

None of the AEGs all my friends had were wraped in anything.  The paint on the guns will prevent crosion, and most of the metal on airsoft guns is aluminum which doesnt rust, it crodes.  Cheaper guns that have metal on them usually have steel, or pot metal, which corodes quite easily most of the time, if it has no paint to protect it.

Regarding submerged AEGs, I remember seeing a video where someone in a lake of sorts took an AUG down and demonstrated how it was capable of firing even after being underwater. He/They also demonstrated an M9 GBB. Ill try and find the link.

Edit: Here:

Pretty interesting, even though they spelled amphibious wrong.

Well if you keep everything greased and well kept they will be fine.

One of my biggest problems is when I or someone fires a weapon I wait to hear a report, it's weird.

playing in the rain is a blast. the only downside is we have this huge clearing with a downhill slope that gets muddy as hell. we usually end up putting away the guns and go sliding down. it's a blast other than it makes our games to short.

More or less... :P

Yeah I remember that one time we played in the downpour and my team was trapped behind the van with 1 gun that had a jam and another out of ammo and then only 2 operational guns with 4 people. Good stuff.

i played about a month ago in the rain, and it was really fun.  the goggle fog was terrible and no one couldn see much but it was still pretty cool.  it's cool because it's even better cover than playing in the dark; nothing moves at night but the rain is constantly falling so it's harder to detect movement.

i would love to try that thing from the movie Platoon where the guy closes his eyes, every few seconds and looks for changes in the shapes, and he sees the charlies moving.

I abosolutely love playing in the rain. It's great. but after your done playing you have to take down your guns and clean and relube them. one of my buddies dropped his KSC M93R in a pile of mud and some other stuff that looked like it could've been dog crap. well my friend had a ncie time cleaning his gun.
