Author Topic: I'm placing an order shortly (VSR10 parts) - can someone doublecheck for me?  (Read 844 times)

I recently received a VSR10 GSpec through a trade; come to find out, the sear & piston are worn. Pardon my lack of specific terminology here, as this is my first bolt rifle...I'll do the best I can.

The problem: Pull the bolt back and it sounds like it wants to catch..but if you release it, it snaps forward.  The sear (?) that engages the piston (?) had a slight radius worn into it, and the raised ring that receives the sear was worn as well. Again, I'm not sure I'm using the proper words to describe said parts, but hopefully you have an idea of where the issue is.

I do want to be sure that what I order is correct -- I may install a ~500fps spring as well. I currently have a tightbore, ~400fps spring and metal spring guide.  I'd like to spend as little as possible, but I do want a reliable and accurate 500fps rifle.  If I can get out for ~$100, I'll be happy.

Laylax PSS10 High Pressure Piston NEO for VSR-10 (this is the part that catches the piston sear, I assume?)

Total comes to $119 with free s/h from PoweredgeUSA.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.  I would love to spend a bit more time researching, but I unfortunately do not have internet access at home so I catch time online on lunch or just before I leave work..

Youll need a metal spring guide and a spring guide catcher for durability.

Thanks Davey! I'm not familiar with a spring guide catcher; do you happen to have a link handy? I currently have a metal spring guide installed.

Once I get my USR-11, I'll be looking at upgrading also.

What FPS will this setup get me? Will I need anything more, anything less? Also, are the sears that I'm looking at just as good as the deepfire ones on Airsoft Atlanta? Would anything else be helpful. Also, what else would I need to get if I got the 150 spring?

Bummer - Uncompany is more expensive, not to mention overseas. Thanks for the link; I may then upgrade what's needed immediately and order a stronger spring & guide stopper later.

I'm somewhat tempted by the Zero trigger assembly, but it is significantly more expensive; what would be the advantage over purchasing the entire assembly over the individual sear sets?

Honestly, I would just buy the sears. The zero trigger might be slightly more durable with a lighter trigger pull, but its not something I would spend $200 on. Its a great kit if money is no object, but I dont feel like spending as much money on a better trigger pull than I spent on my gun.

If that's the case, I'll just go with the sears.  Is everything else alright?  I could drop the spring until the guide stopper is in stock, then order the pair..just use the spring I have until then.

My piston & sears won't even hold the stock spring now, so I definitely need something ASAP.

I think you will be able to use the sears, spring guide, and spring, but if you keep the stock stopper the stopper probably wont last more than 500 shots without breaking, assuming the stock spring guide stopper isnt already messed up. If I were you I would try my luck without a spring guide stopper and order one as soon as it gets back in stock.

Thanks Davey.  From what I've read, a 150 spring will give ~450fps..so I'm looking at the 170, but that's out of stock as well. Figures, eh?

150 should give you just under 500 actually. 170 would give toy 558. You dont have to order all on one websight. Try multiple websights (redwolf, pe, aa, hsa)

I'd prefer to stick with Poweredge -- free s/h over $100, and some prices are actually cheaper than Den/WGC/Uncompany.  AA is pricey -- I picked up two G&P mags (with ~$16 s/h cost!) from PE for less than AA's price /without/ shipping. :)

--Edit--
 Ordered the following:
  Laylax PSS10 150 Spring for VSR-10 Series 1 $18.00
Laylax PSS10 High Pressure Piston NEO for VSR-10 1 $45.00
  Laylax PSS10 Piston Sear for VSR-10 Series 1 $21.00
  Laylax PSS10 Trigger Sear for VSR-10 Series 1 $35.00

 Shipping: $0.00
  Total: $119.00

Nice. Good luck and happy sniping!  ;) Also, are you considering a tightbore? That would most definetely help if your shooting at 500 fps.

The individual I received the gun from has told me that there is a 6.02mm installed. :)

I finally have a one-of-each variety! :D Perhaps I need an AEP now. ;)

Wow nice. How much did you pay for the gun? Is it a g-spec or a pro sniper?

Traded a G36C with extras for the VSR10, BSA scope, bipod, 400fps spring, metal spring guide and cash.  It's a GSpec. The other guy is supposed to be kicking in some extra cash to compensate for the worn/unusable sear and piston..we'll see how that works out.
