BEFORE YOU POST ABOUT BEING "SCAMMED"...
« on: September 11, 2006, 05:18:25 PM »

...MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR FACTS RIGHT.

i have dealt with several issues these past few days only to have the member claiming that they were "scammed" recant their statement and think things are just going to go on as normal. when someone reports a scammer to me i have to go through the trouble of investigating this to the fullest extent that i can. after this i proceed to suspend that member's account, and provide their information to the supposedly scammed other member.

the information i give out is only because i believe that it will help the member resolve the dispute. we do not give away/sell/etc. information about any of the users here, and it is our policy to keep a member's information private if they wish it to be. when this happens i am violating a member's privacy--and i do not like to do this--ESPECIALLY if they are not responsible for any wrongdoing.

all in all this is becoming a real pain for me to deal with, so before you PM me or post in this section that you are being scammed--get your facts straight!

if you have legitimately been scammed there are several resources avaliable to you such as:

1. paypal buyer protection.
2. ebay buyer protection.
3. the IFCC (http://www.ic3.gov).
4. local law enforcement agencies.

when necessary i can provide information about a member down to IP address, hostname, and email address. i will not be as lax when giving this information out in the future, and i will require some form of proof that you legitimately need this information for some form of investigation.

that is all.
