Hello. This is something that our team put together from random posts in the TACTICS guide of ASR. It is a list of general tactics and player roles that we use. Just though it would be a good suggestion.

- CISF

Hand Signals
•   L - Flank left
•   Fist - Flank Right
•   Head pat - Cover me
•   Rub fingers - Need ammo
•   Hold out hand vertical and point to enemy - Enemy spotted
•   Move Open Hand Downward - Get down
•   Stomach pat - You're exposed
•   Point to self then area - I'm going there
•   Count to three – On three do previous commands
•   Point to eyes then area – Look at area pointed to

Stealth Tactics

Stealth is a major role in Airsoft no matter what role you play. For basic stealth practice try walking quietly on the “blades” of your feet. Walk on things such as leaves, gravel, and in brush. Stealth is a skill that you develop over time. Over the course of about 10 hours of practice you should be very good in the art of stealth. Watching where you step is a huge part of stealth. If you happen to step on leaves you might make sounds that give away your position. Avoid loose clothing that rustles when you walk. Make sure to tape down anything that shines or makes sounds on your clothing that makes sounds as you walk. Use hand signs and be completely silent. The human eye pays attention to movement, shape, and the color white. So try to avoid these three things. While walking make sure to always have a firm grip on your gun, walk in a crouched position,  and try not to run unless it is necessary. While sneaking around always stay close to cover and try to break your silhouette by attaching leaves and twigs to your load out.  Every 15-20 steps stop and pay attention to your surroundings. Remember patience is the most important thing in stealth.

Nightsofting

For Nightsofting never wear black, it is usually darker than the darkness around you. A concealable weapon is a good thing to have. Light destroys night vision use it carefully as you can use it to your advantage. Stay in contact with your teammates, it’s easier to be ambushed alone. Use stealth; after all it is most effective at night. Trail your opponents and wait for them to get separated from the group. Be patient, after time opponents will become careless. Leave no tracks behind. Be cautious of traps and ambushes as they are the easiest way to be killed in a firefight. Be careful not to expose your silhouette on things like hills. Remember the eye easily recognizes shapes.  Red lights preserve night vision and gives light this can be very helpful. Make sure nothing rattles and nothing shines. Make sure you have a clear shot, if not stay put. No rapid movements because the human eye will recognize you. Move when there’s noise such as when an AEG fires, it covers up the sounds of walking.

How to Shoot Properly

Airsoft is overrun with players who focus more on upgrading their weapons in an attempt to become better players. Skills need to be developed to actually shoot, and reliably hit a target.

Normal Grip

The key here is to have your hand up as high up on the grip as possible. The higher it is the more control you have over aiming, and recoil. This applies to any gun pistol/smg/rifle/shotgun. Get your middle finger up as high into the trigger guard and your web of your hand up high as possible onto the rear of the grip. Pistols are affected most by the grip. Also, if you have a fore grip it as high as possible it will aid in control.(Pistols) Use your non trigger finger hand and lay it along the side of the frame, while gripping high with the shooting hand, and lock your wrist forward, thumb parallel with the barrel, and imagine your finger an aiming device. It will naturally point as you aim. It speeds up alignment and when a pistol recoils it resets the gun into the same spot much quicker.

Finger placement

When squeezing the trigger squeeze with your fingerprint area of your finger. Squeeze with the fingernail area of your finger, never a joint area. A joint area will jerk the trigger, messing up sight picture. Squeeze slowly until you can successfully squeeze a smooth pull without moving the gun. Squeeze, don't jerk the trigger. Make slow, fluid movements until your speed improves. This will be a big issue in pistols and sniping. Make sure you squeeze, do not jerk.

Cqb Grip

Since everything is much closer in CQB your gun should proportionally be closer. For pistols move it closer to your eye, until the back of the slide is about a foot away from your face. Your eye should be looking at the back of the slide; the middle/top of slide should be level with your eye. Like focusing on the front sight, focus on the back of the slide, and use it as a sight. (All guns) When your eye moves, make sure the gun moves as your eye does. Keep your gun in front of you at all times, focusing on the sights/ rear of slide.

Accuracy

You cannot hit something if your sights are misaligned and they mostly are in any cqb situation when you’re stressed, hyper, and have a total lack of control for shooting. The sights will always let you hit your target if they are used. Focus on the front sight. The front sight is like the red dot in a red dot sight. If it isn’t seen it is likely that your shot will be off. Focus on it hard. If you focus on it will very likely be automatically aligned with the rear sight. If not practice repetitiously until it is an unconscious habit, which is usually about 10 hours. Not 10 hours straight, unless you want to, but a gradual learning process. Focus on the front sight at all times Do it with all guns. If you’re using any scopes or sights, focus on the crosshairs or the red dot. After all most people can't recall a proper sight picture when shooting, but they can recall the target. If you can recall a sight picture after firing you are getting better at focusing on the sights. By focusing on the front sight you are much more aware of where the bullet will hit. Focus hard on the sights at any range close, mid, or far. When the sights are used you can hit people in the head reliably with single shots not bursts.

Speed Accuracy

Learn the above before doing this or all skills are vain. Cqb speed is needed most. But if you can have an accurate single or double shot, fast, you are performing a miracle in the Airsoft world. When you aim what ever your shooting, (epically in cqb) Make sure that the gun is in front of you at all times. Wherever your eyes look the gun goes as if it were your eyes. Do not take your eyes off of the front sight as you look around the room. MAKE THEM MOVE (eyes and gun) at the same time, never lower your gun in a cqb situation, always keep it pointed where your eyes are. Ok, good. Now for aimed point shooting. Like I mentioned with pistols locking your wrist out, thumb pointed forward, do the same with all guns. Just like in pistols it speeds up recovery from recoil time, and aligns the gun with you thumb, making it faster & easier to aim.

Additional accuracy tips

Aim small miss small. This means if you aim at a big area, miss big. Basically only look at a small area in the general area you are aiming for. It's like either aiming for the whole target or just the bull's eye. If you aim for the whole target you'll likely miss the whole target. Aim for the bull's eye, you'll likely hit the bull's eye or a small area near it. It's not some supernatural breakthrough, merely common sense. It's like not having any specific area to aim for on someone, you will probably miss them if you do that. Instead aim for their head or the center of their chest. By making the target smaller and more precise you make your aiming radius smaller and more precise. This concept applies to any range, any gun.

Additional speed tips

Practice what you want to be fast at slowly for a long time. After you can do it successfully 9/10 times at the speed you are working at, you can then move on. Practice more times than 10 times though. Shooting fast shots also requires a small physics trick. The trick is to pull the lowest part of the trigger as possible for a lighter pull, moving the force (your finger) farther away from the fulcrum (the top of the trigger that rotates on the pin). This will make your trigger pull lighter and quicker. When you let off the trigger make sure your finger comes off of the trigger. If you short stroke the trigger (don't fully release the trigger) you may not fire another shot, getting you shot. This guarantees that every shot will be fired.

Reloading

(All guns) When reloading shift your focus to the mag well, concentrate on putting a mag in the well. Look at it, ignore all else and focus on it until you've reloaded. (Pistols) When shooting pistols as you hit the mag release, look down at the mag well, and bring the gun close to your face, about 10-12 inches away and focus on putting a mag in the well. As your weak hand reloads a mag, make sure you swing it over top of the slide and rack a new shot. YOU CANNOT rely on the slide release. Always do an overhand rack. Competitors may use a slide lock for timing, but Seals, Swat, etc uses an overhand rack only. Instead they instinctively do an overhand rack, making sure that they have a chambered round ready. On this subject you are much more concerned with having a shot, not the reload time.

The Rock Tactic

The rock tactic is a very useful diversion especially for ambushes. Basically you throw a rock into a certain area to trick the enemy. The enemy will think that there is a tango in the area the sound came from and will investigate. While investigating, you should ambush. This tactic is very useful for diversions.

If you want to go straight into hard core I would recommend a gas pistol. Gas pistols are fun to shoot and one of the most powerful weapons stock ever created. There are many good gas pistols to choose from. You can hold your own with a gas pistol even against an AEG. I know from experience that you can do this because I have done this many times with my G19.

If you like the whole idea of a full sized replica Airsoft gun then I would recommend an AEG. (Automatic Electric Gun) I would recommend for your first AEG you should get a Tokyo Marui. I’ve had a Tokyo Marui M4A1. I loved that thing. It is very powerful and accurate. One of the most dominant stock weapons on the field at anytime. All Tokyo Marui weapons fire about the same FPS. (Feet Per Second). Some weapons have different rate of fires or different battery type.

A Riflemen’s Tactics

Riflemen are a key part to win a battle. In the US army they carry a variant of the M4 usually. They mostly can do a lot of things. They put constant fire on an enemy and can fire almost none at all. Riflemen are a sort of all personnel. They are not as quiet as snipers but not as heavy bb poring as support men. Most people are riflemen. They are the average soldier in the army.

Snipers

To be a sniper is rifle with a power scope and a radio. Sniping is a whole different art of war. They rely on one shot per target. They do not make them selves noticed on a battle field, usually taking their shots from a far distance. They need to be hidden from anyone. If you are a sniper tell your team just to forget about you. Snipers should never take more than five shots at a person unless they are closer than 20 feet. Patience is the key to sniping. You must wait for a shot the whole time. Study the targets habits. When they duck back into their cover, if they like to take many shots, if they like to run into a danger or will they stay it out and wait. Every air softer is different in some way. Sometimes you will not take a shot in the whole battle. That's ok you did a fine job if that happens. You should tell your team where targets are so they won’t get caught off guard. Study the battle field. Think where you would you was on their team. Most of the times you will fine people going the same places if they work. Try to surprise you opponent at every possible chance. Never use the same hiding spot twice. Remember, one shot, one kill.

Support men

What you need to be a support men is an AEG with a drum magazine or a Hi-Capacity magazine.
Being a support man does not require a lot of aim. What your job is mainly to give cover for your riflemen to advance. They never lead the way; they mostly trail behind the riflemen. Once you see a target fire on that target while your riflemen get position to get a better shot at him. You need to fire in bursts of about five. When the target sticks their head back up let off another burst. They will quickly learn to keep their head down. Then, there is your chance for your riflemen to make a move. Before they move have your sniper tell you if there are any targets that will interfere with the riflemen’s move.
The sniper will have to tell them quick. Then once confirmed there are not targets in the way he can move. The rifleman kills the target and your job is done.

Advancing

There are many different types of advancing. I will only talk about one. I refer to it as the “leapfrog”. One group in front fires while the other people move in front of him. Then you just repeat process. Mainly the people in the front are giving cover while the others make a run for new cover. The enemy will see the advancing men and come out of their hiding spots to shoot at them. This is the chance for the people covering them to shoot the enemy. I have used this process many times.
Defense

Defending an area has a lot more of advantages than attacking an area. You can set up ambushes and hold off double your numbers. When setting up make sure you have every area of entrance covered. Think of where your enemy will take cover. Think of where you will go if the enemy retreats. Think of where you will go if your team retreats. Try to setup an ambush. If the ambush works you must advance to help the people that ambushed. Usually when they fire at the enemy for the first time they are surprised. Your team mate will most likely not have the best spot so you need to move yourself to help him. Signal your team over to come with you. This could scare the enemy away and you’ll send them off running. If it doesn't work you will have to give support for him to run back into cover. This will start the tempo of the battle high. If he makes it back alive, he is lucky. Also you can pretty much tell that this war will go down to the final draw.

Attacking

Attacking is much harder than defending. When moving in a group does not stay bunched up. If you have ever played team video games they always stay together in a straight line. Do not do this. One burst of a full auto weapon can take you all out. You will have to be aware or your surroundings. Look for things that look out of place. Examples are bushes moving when there is no wind and no one firing at you when you are an open target. This can be scary because it seems out of place. Well you won’t have much time to think about it because you probably just fell right into their trap. If you don’t get shot right away the best thing is to look for cover and just dive for it. Literally I have dove straight into brush I had no idea what was behind it and it was another player. I some how shot him and I lived to tell the story. Look for possible ambushes. Before you start shooting locate as many enemies as possible. Try new things and do not do the same thing twice. Mix up your shots. Surround your target. Make him feel like there are one million enemies shooting at him when there are only you. Keep moving and don’t stay in one spot.

Sounds good, would really help some people on here if they would try to improve themselves. But alas, no one seems t have any iniative, so for now they make great bb fodder.

Very Nice, I liked the part about ambushing. The "Rock Tactic" is one of my favorite things to do in setting up an ambush.

I learned some stuff here. Very good guide but, You might want to add in radio calls since you talked about the radio for sniper and how they have to say what they see fast and quickly.

pretty good general guide, I would prefer more on specific tactical maneuvers,  but as far as portraying the roles of the positions, bravo!

Very good guide. But i would like to correct you on one thing. At least in my own personal experiences, wearing black at night is always better than wearing camouflage. Even though your normal camouflage will not leave a "shadow of darkness" people are much more likely to find you because it is how we perceive what we see.

might want to add a cautionary part to the rock tactic because i have hit, and been hit by others, when using this tactic. And no one wants to get hit by a rock.
