The Matrix,well,cyma,jin-gon,CSI Ak from airsplat review pics.
« on: February 18, 2006, 12:14:55 PM »

OK here is the better half of My order.Right off the bat Ill tell You this gun blows the G3 away in every aspect but FPS.Here is how it comes(minus the 8.4v battery and charger I have plugged in charging for todays games).

This gun is very well made.Metal parts include, upper receiver, outerbarrel, barrel, front sight and selector switch. The gearbox is plastic despite airsplat saying it is metal.

It comes with adjustable hop-up that works very well.

The accuracy of the Ak is pretty amazing. It shoots about a 12" group at 80 feet and offers headshot oppurtunity all day long.Me and My brother have a headshot only rule cause were crazy like that.I bought two of these and two of the G3's and We played with the Ak's for about 3 hours compared to 15 minutes with G3's.

Again using only .12's Im guessing this gun shoots in the 250 range. It will punch through a can but not out the other side like the lorcin. My Ics M4 shoots about 250(never upgraded) and the Ak is right there with it.It uses a plastic version 3 gearbox so it may offer some upgrade options but I havent been to involved in upgrading.BB's drop about 125 feet but like I said they fly on a rope.

One negative is the pistol grip is to small.I will be making a new grip as i have big hands and it doesnt feel comfortable in my hands.

It comes with 2 metal 70 rounds mags. The mags are of moderate quality but Ive noticed the last 3 rounds wont feed in each mag.

A huge plus is this gun is a TM clone and Ive heard everything for a TM will fit this gun.Im very happy with this gun and for $60 is the best deal around.I highly recommend anyone looking to buy a gun to start in airsoft this would be it.

Good review, i would consider getting this gun, but the plastic gearbox.....  But it looks very nice.  Also did the mag and the mag clamp come with the gun from airsplat?

Here's another review from old asr.
http://www.airsoftretreat.com/oldforums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=89641
"Again using only .12's Im guessing this gun shoots in the 250 range."
It should shoot a little higher then that. It is supposed to do 230 with .20's so im guessing 260-275 fps with .12's should be a little more like it.

Nice review, would you like me to add it to the review archive in the Buyer's guide?

Do you have any real FPS ratings?

Hmm...sounds interesting. However, quick newb question regarding the plastic gears-that basically means the gun will die, thanks to dead gears, after extended use, right?

Really? I hate liars. But anyways the pics are still good from his review.
I heard the gears on the gun arent that bad. The xm8 has plastic gears, but people have been using it flawlessly for months.

Nice review, ostbucks98. Have you had any trouble with the gun double firing in semi? I've put at least a couple dozen mags through my AK now and have had no improvement. Some days it doesn't seem so bad, and other days it'll shoot 2 BBs with every shot. I'll be taking it apart soon to see if I can tweak anything, but I'm not sure what I could do to fix the problem..

Hey ostbucks this might sound like a weird question but. I have one of these guns and I hear everyone saying "This gun has amazing accuracy!!" Mine doesn't have such great accuracy. Where do you have your hop up set at? haha Like you know how it says hop and then the --->. Can you tell me where you have it set to. Haha if you dont understand heres an example. Like "I have mine set right next to the P on the hop." Haha thanks man.

And do you use .12 or .2?

I just bought the same gun, but for some reason my hop up doesnt really work to well.
Whenever i even slightly adjust it towards "Hop" the bbs will roll out of the barrel or go about 5 feet before dropping.
Has anyone else heard of or had this problem?

You have to pop out the "button" on the selector pivot and once it is done you can access the screw underneath it.

The hop on mine works great, the bbs start curving a bit to the right or left after about 60 feet every few shots, but that's it. However, i can get the bbs traveling perfectly straight for 100 feet before they start dropping, that's a great hop-up system for an lpeg. What's wrong with your hop-up, is it inconsistant, making the bbs curve, or what? Maybe i can help.

Yeah, 110 feet sounds about right. I use .2s, and that's about what range i can get. With .12s you may be able to get some more range, but accuracy goes down, so i don't reccomend those. Effective range, in case you wanted to know, is about 80 to 90 feet, i've hit people from farther but luck had a lot to do with it. Bottom line: amazing range for an lpeg.

The problem is when i even slightly increase the hop up, the bbs loose range and power drastically. Most of the time they just go about 15 ft with the hop up barely on. However, without it i get about 90 feet before it drops. I returned it and got another of the same gun, but that one had the same problem.
Would installing a prometheus "soft type" or "hard type" hop up bucking help here?
