If you had a really stubborn friend who wanted to mount an MOE handguard to his ICS M4, what would you tell him?

Go ahead, but you'll need a real-steel style delta ring.  Classic Army is your best bet.

Not compatible, according to XM's spreadsheet.

I'll second the CA delta ring statement. There are some others you can use, Hurricane makes one for example, but the only one I have any experience with is the Classic Army. It worked fine. While we're on the topic of polymer handguards, has anyone used the AR-15 Tapco Intrafuse handguard set on an airsoft gun?

Ive got a 2003-2005 and the threads on the upper receiver are non-compatible. Anyone point me to a nice cheap deltaring/ris unit?

Try harder.

As I've explained before, it's airsoft.  Either be prepared for hit and miss or be prepared to make modifications.  If you've read the thread, you've seen myself and others have both used CA rings without issue.  There's no such thing as "guaranteed to work".

I should add, it's a pretty tight fit.  XM's try harder advice might not sound too great, but in this case you actually have to try pretty hard.  If you're not using an armorer's wrench, I'd suggest trying one.  CA isn't exactly known for tolerances, so it may be harder for some than others.

That said, I'd recommend sanding down the threads first and shoving an upper gearbox in so you don't over torque the receiver and crack it.

The top gearbox is an MA 57 while the lower is a MA 47 or 48 but it won't fire

Does it make any noise?  Did you follow the instructions when putting the gun back together? Do you feel the motor trying to cycle?

Did you make sure the gears were properly rotated before closing the two halves together?

We need more details then on what exactly is happening.  Pictures would be helpful too.

Is the piston stripped?

This happened to my stock piston recently and had to replace it. The gears would spin, but the gun didn't fire because the end of the piston had been ripped off.
