CA SR 25 christmas list
« on: December 05, 2007, 10:49:59 AM »

I know i know...my never ending sr 25 discussions.  Well its Christmas time and i decided instead of just replacing my broken gear Im going to give my gun a full tune up.(Guns deserve presents too).  So this is what i need help with.  Im basically buying new parts for my whole gun.  Im going to get a new piston, gears, bearings, shims, barrel, hopup, tappet plate, and a spring guide.  If theres anything big im missing tell me. (Im keeping my old motor and spring in it).  Anyways i was wondering what parts are not the most expensive, but very reliable, i am probably working with a 150 dollar budget roughly.  I dont want this gun breaking down for a long time.  I already have my hopup and barrel decided.  Thank you so much for your time.  Any suggestions on what to get help!

Neither of those options posted will work, since the CA25 uses a long piston. I'm pretty sure PSG-1 pistons are compatible, though.

If the CA is a clone of the G&P, which it probably is, the G&P piston should work.

It isn't.

Hmm, alright, so if i get a PSG 1 piston, what kind of gears would you all suggest?

It's a completely elongated gearbox, if I'm not mistaken, which means not only a longer piston but a longer cylinder as well.

Gah. I guess I got thrown by the mags being compatible.

...

Now someone's going to come tell me they're not.

Mags compatible with what? They certainly aren't compatible with regular 5.56 Armalite mags.

Don't get the PSG-1 piston. One of my teamates was told the same thing, and when he tried to install it, it didn't work. He then bought the G&P piston, and that worked fine. I don't remember if the mags are compatable though.

I would IMAGINE that the mags would be like this:

G&P and G&G would be the same...since they both use elongated hop ups.

CA is by itself because it standard hop up but elongated GB.

Seems like it makes sense to me, but I have never tried it.

So HK Sniper, a G&P piston would work? Where could i get one? And will any gears work with this gearbox?

Well I know he bought the piston from Hotspotairsoft, and it worked with his. As for the gears...I'm not sure. I can try to get a hold of him, although it will be a little dificult, because he's in the Army. I do know though that he replace his gears (and I'm 90% sure they were G&P) after they stripped. Most of the things in his gearbox he replace, because they broke down. He ended up sticking an extra $500 into it.
