I recently got an Airsoft Elite ICS MP5A4.  Grin
I'd like to upgrade it to make it even better, but I have nothing to upgrade. Everything is metal and reinforced (or so I've been told), it shoots 400fps, and I have both an 8.4v and a 9.6v battery.

I was thinking about getting a tightbore barrel, perhaps longer than the current barrel, to maybe make this gun have a little more accuracy and range (since it shoots so hard).

But I'm not too familiar with this stuff, so could you guys help me out a bit? I was thinking about getting a longer barrel (M4 length?) and adding a mock mock silencer to cover its length.
Or what about getting this SD conversion to cover the extended barrel? (here)
But the quality is questionable, due to its low price.

Any advice?
thanks

One thing I'd recommend is swapping out the aluminum piston for a polycarb or nylon one. I dunno if the new AE's have an aluminum pistonhead too. If so, I'd swap that too. The ICS v2 shells aren't durable enough for the mass of an aluminum piston/head and the level spring AE puts in them.
As for the barrel, you can get away with a M4 (363mm) tightbore on the stock cylinder. A cylinder change would be ideal though. I myself prefer the HK51-style barrel extension, as opposed to a mock mock silencer. It's your weapon however, and your opinion that matters Smiley
I dunno about that SD frontset, seems sketchy. They list the manufacturer as Academy. I'm unaware of the producing such a thing.

If your 9.6v is a large (subc) battery, then you'll need to modify the stock to fit it. It's not difficult to do. You just need to break out the plastic wall that obstructs the battery.

hmm....can you give me a link to a HK51 extension? I was thinking about getting a mock mock silencer, but maybe your idea might look better.
As for the SD extension, the price did catch my suspicion.

http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/external.htm 3rd from the bottom of the page
You would also need a threaded adapter (for a mock silencer too) http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-UPE-ICS-MP59.htm
Sorry, I couldn't find them on the same site.

Get a new bucking as well, the stock ICS bucking isn't too great. Other than that and the items mentioned above, such as a polycarb piston and duracon piston head, you should be set.

dang, I've been too busy for my MP5 Sad.....

anyways, would an m4 tightbore be too long? Are there any tightbores between mp5 and m4 length?
And would my accuracy/range improve that much if I get a longer tightbore, or should I just stick with an mp5-length tightbore barrel?

I've been looking into getting an ris for my mp5. I looked at airsoftgi, and the most affordable one was the CYMA, here.
It's cheaper than the other brands, but does anyone know if the quality sucks?
Also, would I have to drill any holes in the mp5's body for the rails?

Sorry for all the questions. I am so confused Tongue

I pretty much had the exact same setup as your talking about.
AE MP5: 400 FPS
-Deepfire 200mm mock silencer
-Systema M4 Length Tightore Barrel
-Systema Hop-up Bucking
-Other Internal parts

The accuracy might have increased some, but I would say drastically.  I removed the mock silencer and barrel to go back to the regular ol' MP5, just because it was smaller and I wanted to go classic HK.  I think I could have spent my money better if I would have gone with a higher quality and a shorter length.  Like a Prometheus MP5 lengh barrel.
