Tightbores: EdGI or PDI?
« on: June 20, 2008, 08:31:32 PM »

What would be more accurate? an EdGI ported bull barrel or a PDI barrel? I'm just wondering because I'll be getting a VSR or BAR-10 soon and want the best barrel available.

Thanks for all replies

An EdGI has slightly better groupings at 150 feet, but not enough to make a large difference.

Also the EDGI barrel is cheaper, so better grouping plus lower price . . .

that's strange, because TCF said that PDI gets better groupings because of its tolerances, but against an EdGI ported barrel, I don't know.

i would go with PDI. if i remeber they are steel and PDI is brass. i have a PDI 6.01mm 430mm barrel and it performs amazingly.

PDI is slightly better, but the EdGI isn't far behind thanks to the thicker barrel (and porting, if he'll do that).  They're a LOT cheaper, and not worse enough for the difference to matter, in my opinion.  A PDI 6.01mm costs what, 150 or so?  Compare to 85 for a 6 flat barrel, or less for a 6.01mm EdGI.

Is there a major differance in accuracy between an EdGI 6.01 and an EdGI 6.00?

No other then the .01 difference in diameter.

AA has them for something like $114.

I asked him about this. He said there wasn't really a difference until you start getting down to around 300mm, then the 6.00mm pulled ahead.

Okay, so you are saying that the EdGI is slightly more accurate but a pdi is better because of durability and consistency? Im trying to decide between the two.

no, he's saying that PDI is slightly more accurate AND better, but EdGI is close due to its price, porting, and reducing vibrations.
