The Gear Picture/Description/Where/Why/How Much ThreadThread Rules:This thread is for pictures of loose gear only. If you are taking pictures of your full loadout with you in it, post it HERE. If you just got an awesome new rig and want to show it off without giving any info, the gallery is located HERE. If you just got a new rig and want to show it off AND tell people where you got it, why you chose it, advantages/disadvantages of the setup, cost, etc, then you are in the right place! If you updated your pouches, patches, mags, etc, then post the picture AND describe any changes, as well as why/where/etc... Please post your pics with the proper orientation, i.e. top should be on top. We don't want people craning their neck to check out your rig. You may ask questions, comment, praise, criticize people's gear, BUT please direct the comment directly to them and keep it constructive. If there is any needless flaming, it will be referred immediately to staff for administrative action. This will not be a thread full of "that's not accurate to what MFR would use", "you have to get two more pouches or I'll put a curse on you" , or any other crap like that. All commentary needs to be more than a "I like it" "I don't" etc... If you like it, say why and give any experience, criticism, or knowledge about it. If you don't, say why (nicely) and add what you would change. Proper commentary would be:PITBULL, I like your rig because it holds more mags than the CIRAS I was looking at. I think I'll try to build one similar. Atilla, great vest, do you have issues with mid-torso looseness? DRK, I had that vest but sold it because it frayed on the edges, which is something to watch for. RLB, wow, I never would have thought that you could fit that many mags on a plate carrier! Thanks for giving me ideas! XavierMace, I don't like it because it looks too cumbersome and like it would limit mobility, but good effort! Snicker, I would like to see that on a person, can you put it on and post it in the Loadout thread? Bad commentary would be:You suck. Get a UTG crossdraw or I'll eat your babies. Nice rig! Good stuff! Hopefully you guys get the idea. If this thread dissolves into +1 posts, I will kill it faster than cheetah killing a salamander. If I see pics of just a gun, it's getting reported, as this is not a "look at my gun" thread. If people are posting gear pics without descriptions, then they're done. I think I've spelled the purpose of this thread out clearly, but if you have a question about proper use of this thread, then post it here or PM me.

Example of a proper post: Totally changed the setup of my compact plate carrier that I purchased from Pointact for $25ish: 16 shells on my gear. Lots of ammo for the backup shotgun. I shoeglued on some velcro to attach the 4 shell holder: It's loose and floppy for now, but it keeps the gun in there: Got the shell holder from TAS, and it's a great piece of kit for any shotgunner. Holding 12 shells in individual loops, there's no rattle or mess, just pull out the shell you want. It is $8 with free shipping on their site, www.tacticalairsoftsupply.com. Plus it gave me real estate for a nametape. I also painted the vest and other pouches with dark brown and almond/black subtle stripes. I like it thusfar. Future plans are to replace the elastic side straps with something a little stiffer, as the current setup is a little too stretchy for me. In game use there will be a dump pouch on the left rear and an Alice canteen on the right rear. I like this setup because it is still light (much less than my CIRAS replica) but offers plenty of magazine and shell storage, and it great full range of motion.

Booligan how hard is it to put the shells back into the holder after they are empty or do you use a dump pouch?

Loading them into the chest holder is kind of a pain, so they go in the dump pouch. It's one of those "spend the time loading the shells in before the game" kind of rigs. If I run it at half capacity, it's easier to put them back in, but I'd rather use the dump pouch. The shoulder mounted one is much easier to load them back into, so if you run without a dump pouch, it's a good option.

Booligan I may have to use that shotgun shell mounting Velcro idea. Or something similar, my vest is getting more crowded since I got an M203 and a shotgun. I've been contemplating a mount for my shotgun on my back and led me to this thing, you might find it interesting (image link). The price is high but this is the quickest search at the moment. I've seen them for less and a tad smaller. Shotgun Scabbard:

^Oddly enough, they had that at TAS, and I was playing with it for a good long while. It's an excruciatingly adjustable scabbard that you can adjust to fit pretty much shotgun on the market, and even some carbines.
It's floating in the back of my mind as a possible purchase down the road.

For the most part, I really like the overall look of your vest. I've never really seen anybody find a way to put so many shotgun shells on their vest the way you currently have it. I do, however dislike one thing (and it's a minor little thing that caught my eye..)
I noticed that in the centrally located shotgun shell holder, the majority of the left side, 8 shells to be exact, look very realistic in the fact that the base of the shells look like real brass and reflect like as such. I wouldn't have guessed they were for airsoft if I had casually looked over things. But what I didn't like was how the four shells on the right side have more of a.....fake brownish plastic tinge to them. Again, it really is a minor thing, but to me it somewhat disrupts the image and perfection of the setup.
Don't get me wrong, I love the general setup. But those 4 (actually 8, including the ones on the shoulder strap) plastic looking shells threw me off a bit. But that's just me

My rig: Phantom Weesatch Why I picked it? Versatile, Mag carrying ability, low profile. Where? Airsoftsmith.com How much? 77.99 Before shipping/approximatley 120 kitted out like mine Comments: Stays snug on the body, carries 12+1 Mags, however, I'd like to know if anyone has tried this rig over a PACA and what its like.

Yeah, the 4 on the shoulder are the new TSD sportline 30 rounders, and the 4 in the chest holder are the old TSD 14 rounders, only standing in for these pictures because I can't find my other 4 30 rounders when I was taking the pics. I actually like the body coloring of the ones that have the less shiny base, but I like the shiny base on the other ones. Looks like I need to invest in some paint for them, lol...

Oh, I like this thread. My Rig: SDS MOLLE 2 FLC Woodland Why I picked it: Frankly, because it looks cool, I'm planning on doing either a 2003 Marine Corps Loadout or fully completeing my OldSchool US Army Greenside loadout, light weight Where: Local Surplus store Price: FLC was $24.99, pouches around $60 What pouches do you got thar? 2X SDS Double M4, 1x SDS Canteen Pouch, 1X SDS Sustainment pouch, Unknown Brand (Blackhawk??) Horizontal Utility pouch in OD. What Next? : replace sustainment pouch with 2 more snap closure Double M4 pouches, get SDS EMT or CB Spec-Ops IFAK, Maybe an SDS Buttpack Comments: Great Quality rig, good MOLLE real estate hard to adjust though. It sticks out pretty far in the back. Stay tuned for a completed Weestach and a Paraclete smoke green HPC. maybe something Eagle to

AEG Dude, I like it because it's a great example of KISS. The simplest solutions are usually the best. Do you have any problems with it shifting front to rear at all if you load it unbalanced?

Thanks dude. Even though I like fully loaded kits with every imaginable pouch (I spend to much time on Wannabe.uk I guess lolz) But yet I still love to roll KISS rigs. I like to be light and mobile. Yeah, when it is unbalenced it tends to shift alot which can get pretty annoying. Once I get some extra cash, I'm going to get an OTV to go under it, to help with it's looseness.

I would even consider jerry rigging some straps that come of the bottom row of MOLLE and attach to the belt that holds your pants up. If you cinch it down tight it should keep it from going too far back or forwards, but may sacrifice some bending range of motion, unless you make it out of a heavy but still stretchable material.
I hear about people having problems with rigs like that moving a bit, and it makes me want to manufacture ready made connecter straps. I did something similar on my chest rig when I had it and it worked pretty well.

I've got two of my rigs to show you guys tonight. LIGHT RIG:What:OD LBV-88 over PT Armor Where: Local surplus shop (LBV)/ehobbyasia (PT) Why: It's light, it's tight, it's simple, it's comfortable, it doesn't move around much, and it carries my normal magazine load. It's my back up rig incase its too hot/a friend wants to play. This was also one of my first vests. The PT Armor came much much later. How Much: LBV was about $20, PT was about $50 (at the time) Each Pouch holds two STANAG mags just right (Or one AK74 mag each), but on the last pouch on my right has a hat in it, for when it gets chilly. PT Armor w/ My countries flag. The grenade pouches have electrical tape and extra gloves in them. I love this because it's simple, and light, and sort of old school. I duct taped all the straps and such down to my size so it fits just right and they aren't hanging all over getting caught on stuff. HEAVY RIG:What: Coyote Tan MOLLE Modular Operator Plate Carrier by Condor Where: TacGearStore.com, Ebay, Surplus Store. Why: Honestly, it's cheap and it looks like it could be a number of other vests (LBT 6094B, CIRAS, or even, maybe from far away, a DBT FAPC). Once I got it, I found it very comfortable and maneuverable. And it's pretty good quality for the price. Plus the color is a very nice shade of coyote, and it's completely modular. Great alternative if you want the look of those expensive plate carriers I listed above, but you don't want the price that comes with them. It is for airsoft after all. How Much: $60 for the MOPC it self, and probably another $70 or so for the pouches. Pouches: Condor Radio Pouch, Condor SAW Pouch, Condor Hydration Carrier, Condor GP Pouch, Condor 3 Cell AK Mag Pouch (only sometimes), Issue ALICE IFAK. Excuse the two patches, it's normally only the flag, but the " To Let The World Be" is on there until I get my RRV. Thats it! Carries Six mags: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/KALASHsixtynine/VESTS/DSC_0007.jpgI might get another SAW pouch to double that. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/KALASHsixtynine/VESTS/DSC_0009.jpgThe IFAK has the original case in it, its plastic and perfect for carrying my cell phone, money, and extra batteries so they don't get wet/muddy/dirty/lost. It is on with alice clips and paracorded down to the loops. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/KALASHsixtynine/VESTS/DSC_0019.jpgThis has plates, just foam. It helps to keep it rigid. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/KALASHsixtynine/VESTS/DSC_0023.jpgFor when I carry my AK. Soon these will be on my RRV for good instead of this rig. All I've gotta say is that this vest is awesome. Theres nothing else you can get for the same price with that same quality. Thats pretty much all. More coming soon, when I get them. The RRV (Condor) and M23 Pioneer Chest Rig (Splav). EDIT: Booligan this was a great idea for a thread. This will make it much easier for everyone (old and new) to research gear and get information quickly.

Kalash, I remember back in 2007 being the first person to announce that the Condor OPC was actually coming out, lol...
I still think that it's one of the better plate carrier-type MOLLE rigs as it's still fairly light but has a TON of MOLLE real estate.
I was actually supposed to review one a long time ago, but the retailer that Condor told to send it to me decided that they didn't want to listen to their supplier and never sent it. Still bummed about that one.
Both rigs look great though. If anything on the heavy rig, I personally would add some shingles to the front to have a few mags at the ready for rapid reloads.

@Booligan: Lol, I remember that as well, I was so excited cause I was going to dish out for a Phantom CIRAS then I saw that. And not only is it fairly light, it's smaller then other PC's too. I still think it's based on the LBT 6094B as it looks so similar. It also looks alot like the Marines supposed new armor, the SPC or something? I don't remember the name. But that sucks that they didn't send you one. I could do a review one day, if it's rainy out I may.
And Thanks. I considered that before, just for when Im on the move. I might have to pick up a few shingles after I get the two new rigs. They only hold one mag each right?

Yep, but they make them in different widths, i.e. 1,2,3 mags wide. You can stack them though and make them stick out as far as you want.

Well, I currently don't have a job, because it is almost impossible to find a job as a teen in the Twin Cities, so I went very cheap. What: UTG Crossdraw (like you haven't seen these before), Alta Superflex knee pads, and a generic MARPAT boonie. Not to forget the my brand new KWA 18C with 3 additional mags. Where: I got the vest and the knee pads from Airsoft Atlanta, the boonie from the local surplus, and the 18C from ASGI. Why: The UTG was really cheap, and holds a lot, seeing as I will eventually get an M4, it works perfectly. The knee pads were highly regarded, and I hate taking a quick knee to find the one tree root, or barren rock. The boonie, I wanted MARPAT, and needed head wear; it doesn't go with my BDU's but I'm changing those for MARPAT when I get the money. The Glock, I wanted to get a sidearm before I got my M4 so I would get a chance to use it, and it's fully automatic. How Much: Vest $50; knee pads $20; boonie $14; Glock $160 (player package), extra mags are $30 ea. Every thing, minus US woodland BDU's The vest by itself, fully loaded. Comments: The vest really holds a lot, especially for being $50, but it doesn't fit me very well, I run CC and track, so I don't really have that much to me (6' 1", 152 lbs). The pistol mag pouch on the holster is very hard to get a mag in there, because of the elastic, the two belt pistol pouches have no velcro, and are very quiet. The rifle mag pouches also quite large, but I haven't used them. There are also pockets on the inside of each flap, and a pocket meant for a hydration bladder on the back. The vest can get really heavy so plan accordingly. The UTG, like always, doesn't match the actual military colors. I had a similar problem with the crossdraw vest I started out with, as I was pretty much exactly the same size as you. I never could get it to fit me right, so I eventually moved into a MOLLE chest rig. The crossdraw is a decent place to start though.
One thing I didn't like about the crossdraw is that I go prone alot, and in the sandy AO I play in, I would foul up my sidearm very quickly, so it's something that you may need to watch out for.
I like the fact that you are striving to be one consistant pattern. This should help you both disappear on the field, and stand out in the staging area, lol...

Ill break mine down into lines: 1st line: What: USGI belt, 1qt canteen (wwII era, vietnam era cover) 2 m16 mag pouches, utg holster Why: Durable, long lasting, cheap, im not THAT worried about my $20 backup getting lost How much: Not much In the future: m12 holster, IFAK, Dump pouch (possibly rolly polly) Second line What: Tactical Tailor MAV W/ double 308 pouch and horizontle gp pouch, one of the usgi m16 pouches from my belt Why: TT gear is awsome, and not much more expencive than condor How much: $55 for the mav, 20 for the 308 pouch, 15 for the gp pouch In the future: Another 308 pouch, x harness, Camelpack or other modular bladder, Pork Eating Crusaider patch w/ admin pouch. 3rd Line: What:USGI 2 quart canteen & cover OR Condor lvl3 assault pack & hydro bladder Note: I dont carry my 1st line canteen if I have my 3rd line Why: I needed water, and both of these are cheap options, I also have tools and medical supplies in the backpack, its heavier, but more comfortable. How much: 20 for the canteen & cover, 60 for the backpack and hydro bladder In the future: Tactical Tailor Enhanced Daypack, My condor pack is shot, and I want something with more room because it doubles as my school bag Yes I like TT gear, its some of the nicest gear ive used, its cheap, REALY durable, and the tan is dark enough for woodland (its actualy closer to cb), I also prefer pouches with zippers and clips, because velcro makes SO much noise.

hey monk, I picked up one of those Condor assault packs as well, mine was only $30, and since all I have is a UTG crossdraw and I dont really know if it will work but do you think the straps on the condor are removeable so I may attach it somehow the back of a plate carrier?
