the plywood is bent then laminated to make the grips. just like the real one.

Oh ok. I guess that makes more sense then. Just sounded kind of off. Regardless it looks to be a very nice reproduction of the real deal. I wonder what kind of performance one would be able to squeeze out of it.

God, they have beautiful AK's. But I'd rather hang those bad boy's on my wall, then risk dropping them...  Tongue

Well, they make them out of steel for a reason. I would use these guns as my heavy-duty guns rather than just wall hangers.

Check out my review of the Type 56 in the RS contest folder. They are MUCH more than wall hangers! Not only do they look awesome they are some of the best built guns I have used.

I'm presently awaiting my long ago pre-ordered RealSword SVD, with not much patience, I'm afraid.  I've had one of the AtoZ SVDs for some time, and while it's a nice gun, I was really hungry for a proper semi auto version, which I'll use in it's proper DMR type role.  Once I get my hands on this version, I'm going to do something similar to a review I did of WA's Hardballer Longslide a while back, and do a side by side comparison and review of this SVD and my real steel SVD.

One thing that I still hold out hope for is that RealSword will make and sell the proper SVD bipod, the russian one which clamps onto the reciever, just forward of the magazine.  I tried emailing them to ask about it, but I don't think they properly understood what I was talking about, as they just referred me to the bipod they already make... *sigh*

Is the SVD going to be a true Russian Dragunov SVD or a Chinese Type 85?

Most likely the type 85.
Actually, I looked around, and found this picture on RS's website-

The camouflage pattern of the jacket under the stock looks a bit odd (not like Flora at least), but there are Russian patches on it, and a close up of the rear sight has Russian markings.

you could be right, I just based it on them making a non Russian bipod and producing replicas of PLA weapons only.

Is anyone else gonna be there too?

Another thing I'm kinda curious about- it being a semi-auto DMR, I wonder if it will have a PSG-1 style 'fire, then ready spring' type gearbox. Now that would be interesting.
