Looks good though, ABU is definitely a snazzy looking uniform

Oh haha. Its funny because its even stupider than ACU. LOL

ABUs to me make even less sense that ACUs, at least some of the "improvements" with ACUs are useful, but with ABUs its like the airforce decided to take the ACU pattern, and add their own REMF "style" into it to make the worlds only true Gucciflage, while still keeping the outdated BDU cut. Hell even ACUs work better than ABUs, and thats saying something.

Honestly, ABUs are ten times more comfortable than ACUs, and they don't have the annoying velcro everywhere. Plus, how is the BDU cut outdated? If it's tried and proven, there's no need to change it. Only thing i'd like to see put on the ABUs would be the arm pockets, and maybe a sensible pattern..  ::)

You must have never actually worn then and done work in them if you think they are comfortable.
The BDU cut is outdated for some reasons most any airman and any other military member who has worn them can tell you. Funny bit of info, it became a common practice to sew down the pockets on the BDU blouse since they served little use to many that wore them.

And concerning the gear, no unit would purchase gear that isnt in wide spread use, the AF just doesn't work that way, SF might but not the cops. Most if not all cops use the old ACU OTV, or more recently the IOTV. Airforce wide the DFLCS system (in ABU, ACU, and OD)  is beginning or already is the standard issue for the cops. Those that don't have that end up using old gear, such as DCU FLCs and such.
If your going to say ""if you squint while looking at it" I am a USAF Security Forces guy" then ditch trying to look like something specific, otherwise give the people you seem to be trying to imitate some respect and do it right. I understand money is tight but don't call it something it isn't.

They would often sew down their pockets for a more crisp, and clean look on their uniform. I'm not gonna claim to have done any work in ABUs or BDUs, other than airsofting and wearing them for uniform days. Personally, since my school has the ACUs and I've worn both the ABU and ACU for inspection, I have found that the ABU is much more comfortable to wear around, my only complaint being that it heats up quickly. This is all about personal preference in my opinion, and isn't relevant to the discussion so i'm just gonna leave it with my opinion and forget about it.

Now with regards to your comment about my non-existent impression, I believe I said, "If you squint while looking at it I am a USAF Security Forces guy.Otherwise, i'm not trying to be much." Merely stating that it COULD possibly be an AF SF guy, but i'm not necessarily attempting to do an impression of that. Don't take my words out of context.

Well, ill give you that BDUs are a little easier to wear for inspections, but Army rotc is not allowed to wear field uniforms for inspections unless we are in the field, and even then, i would much rather have a uniform that works in the field than looks good for inspection.

itsahak, nice rig. one of my favorites too. I've noticed that Kleen Kanteen steel water bottle fit perfect in the side radio pouches. two water bottles, 6 mags, pistol, two spare pistol mags, speed loader and multi tool.

@ShockandAwe
Great loadout, are you going for any specific time period, or just a "generic" USMC grunt?
Thanks! I suppose it's just a "generic" grunt loadout, though I'd say it's probably around the '07/'08 range.

@ShockandAwe
Definitely a nice load. One question though, how does the backpack feel/work for you? I'm getting one soon and I plan to incorporate it into my loadout and I am curious how it affects mobility in a set up like yours.
Thanks. It works rather nicely. Only problems I've encountered is when laying/crawling on my back and when I'm turning (such as hitting it against walls/doorways inside buildings and trees in the woods). Other than that, it doesn't affect mobility much, depending on how much weight you have in it of course. :D

I said it was a snazzy looking uniform. I make no claim to have any knowledge about the ABU uniform.

I can't speak for ABUs, but from someone who enlisted in the Army when BDUs were still issued and authorized, I far prefer my "stupider" ACUs... ACU bashing is practically an official ASR sport by now, I'm by no means UCP's biggest fan, but it's hardly the neon bulletmagnet camo it's made out to be on here, and it certainly has its uses...

Hey usmcpog, that beard really made me laugh! I haven't seen that before!

Bought it at Party City.  The beard makes it hard to draw mags from my mag pouches on the front of my plate carrier.

Thanks.  The top is actually a UBACS Combat Shirt, and I got it at a local surplus shop.  Really unusual find, so I had to have it.  I got the pants shipped from a store in the UK, because that's the only place that had them in my size.  They are the most comfortable pants I have ever worn...period.

They are on Ebay; name is Pegasus Camo.  They one of the only shops that I've seen get the UK sizing right for the US system; the size I ordered fit perfectly.
