Tends to work out well for us.

Chicago Egg Heads and I always try to play as realistically as possible. Having 3 servicemen on our team gives us a great opportunity to get some really great input into our scenarios and play. Not only that, but dramatic deaths also (not overboard though, thats just obnoxious). Just this Sunday at Operation Dead Hand I was shot during the take over of the Launch Pad. Rather than just sit down and call hit (still called it first to make sure I didn't get torn apart :) ), I dropped to a knee, grasping my arm, then slowly falling to the ground and began calling for the Medic. The medic wasn't close and we had already taken the pad so my buddy ran over and "stabilized" my arm until the medic arrived shortly there after. He was a little frustrated and tired and wasn't really having it, but we made the most out of it and both teams got a good laugh out of it. I've yet to be able to make a good Milsim, but I am looking forward to some very realistic play!

Well, I play realistically when most the people at the field I play at play too much COD 4. If half my 6 man fire team dies, I continue the assault with the remaining 3 people. I always play it smart. No spray and praying from me.
I'm the same way; I actually play CoD like I play airsoft, not the other way around... Keeps the K:D ratio pretty high. ;D

Bro, I'm waiting to get out of Afghanistan. Then it's back to Bragg, then I'll be waiting on my promotion to civilian. I did my E5 though.

In my airsoft team of 10 people, we really only play like it is real. What we do is wear the EXACT same clothes. We all wear ACU, ACU Crossdraw Vest/Plate carrier, hiking boots, and ACU hydration carrier. All out guns are of the M4/M16 variant, like the real military. We have 3 M16's, 5 M4A1's, 2 M16 DMR, and we all use the M9/M1911 PTP by KWA. We also only use realcaps in our guns, and we don't spray too much. When one of us die, we scavenge off the dead ones as if he were really dead. Since we are all family/friends, 18 and above, we trust each other, and noone steals anything. Respawns are  :P and  ::). Only for lil' kids.

This version of playing feel's more classic and fun, the way airsoft was meant to be played.

I don't know about the looting of fallen comrades. That doesn't happen much in the real military, US or otherwise, historical or Modern. Historically, looting the enemy is a common, if considered morbid by some, practice. We've got a Blackhawk Crew chief on our team, he keeps the team level headed and provides unique insight to the sport, one that I have not had previously. Shortdog, rest assured, we playz it fur realz.

We have 1 Marine and 1 in NROTC Marine Option (Midshipman 4/C) who train us well. The kid in ROTC is training to be an officer (obviously since its ROTC) so he get trained in squad movements and tactics which help us play it as real as possible tactically.

NROTC... That's the way I plan to go in. College done, and a guaranteed 6 year job at the end. Being in NJROTC has really helped me settle down on what I want for my future, and How to get there. It disappoints me when people ask kids in my generation, who are in High School right now, what they plan after high school, and they answer "I dunno".

But back on topic, my team is made up exclusively of NJROTC Cadets, because I think JROTC Cadets have more discipline and maturity to handle the mil-sim aspects of the sport, therefore playing it real. You also don't see any tacti-cool lack of haircuts peeking out from beneath covers and helmets :).

I am planning on going into NROTC for medical school and coming out as a Medical Officer.

Most of my team is not military (yet, we have 2 joining Air Force and me joining Navy plus another joining the Police force) but we still try to stick with the standards. We all have Marine load outs

Other than our UH-60 Crew chief, we only have NJROTC from my school in the team. The crew chief is our former Unit Master Chief, I'm going NROTC, Two of our number are going Army, one Combat Engineers and one Infantry. Then we have Lopez, who wants to join the Navy to be a Cook.

But we should take this discussion to PMs so we don't get this thread closed down.

I like the idea of looting the dead. It might not happen much in real combat, because there are crew served weapons that can provide lots of cover, and HMMWV carry spare small arms ammo.
But hell, if a guy in my squad were taking fire, and SSG. Soandso got hit, I'd take some mags from him, if I needed to.

our team plays it as real as possible. having been founded and trained by a retired navy seal. we have played quite a few local teams who seem very shocked by our "hit fast, hit hard" tactics and manuevers. Our team is mostly comprised of current or prior military. i guess age and maturity play a part in how your team operates as a whole also.

Hey Jinmu... you did see the six gold stars and title of Global Moderator under Raptor's name correct? A month is hardly considered a necro, especially when it's pertinent to the discussion at hand, especially when it's a moderator doing the discussing.

When i get a tac vest, all of my friends sit there and say "why?" i say because i like to keep it mil-sim. They say it's stupid when i try and teach them certain tactics too. It agrivates me so badly.

Don't listen to them.  I have several in my group that persist that airsoft is "just for fun" and shouldn't "be so serious".  While those points are valid, I hope they all like losing, because tactics always beats the "we'll see how it goes" attitude.

P.S. To all of those kinds of people: THIS ISN'T FRIGGIN PAINTBALL!!! >:(

I absolutely agree, im the team sniper and im the leader, they dont even listen, but they don't know is that the sniper is covering themselves while their gaining ground. And i see all of the tactics that the other team uses too, so i know how to do counter tactics.

I'd say I play it balanced, because it IS airsoft. For instance, one life I may choose to play it extremely real like there's real bullets firing at me, but then that can get old sometimes, so my next spawn will be me going CoD on peeps, and alternating. But for the most part, I find it more fun to play realistic. It makes the fun difference between video games and living it.

I like playing airsoft as realistically as possible, as if the BBs were bullets, and my life and the lives of my teammates were on the line.  I enjoy using realistic tactics and and I feel that playing in this way makes airsoft much more intense, which in turn makes it that much more fun.  If I wanted to play with run-and-gun spray-and-pray tactics, I'd play paintball...

I've found running shotgun or pistol only for a while can really help when it comes to working on tactics.
