Planning on buying some new BDU's - looking for some input
« on: October 21, 2009, 08:05:56 PM »

So I've decided to replace my ACU, seeing as how it doesn't help at all with concealment in woodland.

I've decided to get an OD ACU cut jacket:

What I cannot decide on are the pants:
Either woodland

or Multicam

The woodland, IMO, looks better with the OD jacket, and is about $15  cheaper. However, the multicam is better for concealment, and just looks awesome. What do ya'll think?

Od-WC, Khaki-Multicam.

Yeah I was thinking of maybe a khaki jacket instead of OD if I really wanted the multicam, but I feel like the OD would be better for my environment (mostly tress and brush)

Pardon me asking, but why are you getting your blouse and trousers in two different patterns? I'd expect it would work out best of both articles are off the same pattern.

My vote is just woodland & woodland; unless you've got a ghille suit, it doesn't get much better than the standard.  Then again, it all depends on what your area of play is.  Forest, use woodland, desert, use tan and desert.  It's pretty easy, although I still can't figure out what this is for:

^That's the camo I use to conceal myself in my girlfriend's room^

On a more serious note-  Both would go great with that top, but I'd probably go with the Multi-Cam, I prefer it with OD because it seems to make MC blend better with vegetation. - Just my personal opinion.

For everyone wodnering why I'm not getting a camo top, it's because I'm going for a little bit of a different look. Can't really explain what that is. I don't really know if the multicam blends too well with the OD jacket, which is why I'm a little hesitant. Does anyone have pics with Multicam and OD gear?

Actually I'm not haha. I bought a belt rig as opposed to a chest rig or plate carrier, so my loadout already isn't realistic. I don't really like the way the belt rig looks with full camo, so I decided to mix it up a little bit.

Multicam FTW

Camo doesn't matter much anyways, since most airsofters don't know how to use it anyways. ::)

<sarcasm>well, you find a spot and sit there the whole game. Oh wait, that's camping </sarcasm>

I gotta say woodland. Unless you live in Kansas. Then you have to have a summer kit(woodland) and a fall/winter/spring kit(multicam).Because the colors of nature in summer are the other end of the spectrum from the fall/winter/spring, which is predominately tan and gray.

Hm I could also try

and

If I was to go with full out multicam, should I get ACU cut, or just regular BDU?

acu cut, itll never rip, and propper makes it properly colored, unlike other companies like tru who add to much tan.

Propper is a really good company, I've bought almost 500 bucks worth of army clothing from them at bdu.com and never had a bad experience.

Go with the ACU cut. It allows more freedom of motion in the top. Also those pockets come in really handy.

It may seem obvious, but it's actually pretty rare that people know how to use camouflage.

The people I play with like to stay upright at ALL times, but that has more to do with hiding behind cover than using camo.  (Though woodland looks more like the GROUND of the woodlands rather than the sky above it)
When using camouflage, you need to look like the surroundings you're in, not that you're near.  There's a field I play at that's half in the woods, while the other half is on a grassy hill (yellow grass most the time).  And there's a base that's surrounded by grey stones, perfect for UCP.  Having a type of camo doesn't work EVERYWHERE in a field.

Most airsofters can see camouflage if they know which way to look, if they're expecting you, whether you're moving or not.  If you're coming from a direction they don't expect however, sometimes even the worst camo can work out great.  I've seen a guy get within 20ft of a target in a woodland area using UCP.

To simplify, camouflage enhances stealth, it doesn't cause it.  If you're not being stealthy to begin with, it doesn't matter what kind of camo you're wearing, the enemy will notice you.

Well I was messing around a little in photoshop looking at different types of camo, and while DCU may not work the best for my area (woodland), I just love the way it looks and it's defiantly better than my current ACU.

I think the OD pants help balance it out a little more and give it more of a woodlandish feel to it. Now if I were to get this, coyote brown or OD plate carrier? :P

If you play in woodland, I would really recommend CADPAT.
