How do I make a flash hider?
« on: February 21, 2006, 08:07:45 PM »

Ok, I think this was discussed in the last forum in one of the topics that got deleted, and I never really got the chance to read it so I'm bringing this up here again.

I've read glimpses on how to make your own flash hider using a pencap somehow..  So how is it done?

This is for my UHC mp5 and I'm trying to make my gun look better without the mock silencer (I saw some pictures in the previous forum with a UHC mp5 with a flash hider - it looked damn nice).

a post of that picture and/or instructions on how to make a flash hider would be great.

Ive never heard of making a flash hider but u brought up a pen cap. I woudl say just get a big wide pencap that fits into the opening of the gun and cut out the top part. paint it black and if u need orange. then glue it into the opening. I dont know if it will work but its worth a try. i sold my UHC MP5 to by little brother half a year ago and it broke so i dont have it anymore to try.

Hmm, i havent heard of making a flash suppresor with a pen cap, but im not sure if UHC is reverse threaded or not, but if it isnt, get the right sized bolt, find pvc pipe that it fits tightly into, cut it about 2 inches long, spray paint it black. a buddy of mine did this with a socom pistol.

The barrel isn't threaded, but i did find that i can use a pencap to connect two inner barrels.

I currently have a very short inner barrel from a pistol that I can use as a support for some kind of flash hider, but I'm wondering if you all have any other methods.

So far I'm liking the pencap ideas, but where can I find a big one? oh wait.. I guess I could get one from a big permanent marker.. nice..

I'll try to get a hold of one, and if it goes well, I'll post an update and *try* to have pictures up as well.

Thanks!

ya a permenant marker would actually work fine just take off the little clip and sand that down than make a nice hold on the top and get it in there. since it is already black(if your using a black marker) ii should look fine.

Oh wait i got a great idea. get a black crayola marker and use that cap. that would probably fit too. that would look better because of it not curving to a point.

u could actually put the little barrel on there and put like a marker cap over it but the barels mite nto align perfectly. i would just cram a marker cap in there.

You could also get some small PVC pipe like a coupling and if you had a dremel tool you could make a really keen flash hider though you'd have to glue it onto something you could fit into the outerbarrel without covering the inner one.

I made a flashhider like that once.

1. make a hole at the top of pencap

2. find a plastic water cap

3. put the pencap in the exact middle and trace around it.

4. drill that hole out

5. get a piece of pvc that fits and wrap electrical tape around it, when you twist it will make threads :)

6. drill some holes in the pvc for good looks.

done! Hope it helps sorry I dont have pics.
