Real Sword motor cage?
« on: March 16, 2010, 02:41:32 AM »

I recently purchased an SRC V3 gearbox that didn't come with a motor, and I was disapointed (but shouldn't have been suprised) when my CYMA motor cage didn't fit it. So would the RS Motor cage fit? The only other motor cage I can find is the one made by deepfire, but I can't find those in any US retailers, all I can find is the Real Sword motor cage on evike.

I guess that the RS is only RS compatible.

All / Most AEGs use thicker grips compared to the real deal in the AK range. The reason I can not definitely say all is due to the fact, that th Real sword AEGs use standard width grips (with thinner motors), and some conversions (like the Yugo M76 DMR) can use the original pistol grips due to their thickness (in the case of the M76 it has to be thinned down to 1mm thickness, and some part of the motor cage has to go too).

Why was the Cyma cage incompatible with the SRC gearbox? If you tell us the reason it did not fit we can give you advice if it is modifiable to fit.

Edit:
When will people learn to search the internet?
Took me 5 minutes to find an ICS AK motor cage and an SRC G36 motor cage (both are for ver.3 gearboxes) on EVIKE.

Hey, I did search on evike, and those never showed up. Why do you think I was considering the RS? I guess I should have typed motor cage instead of motor STAND, thanks thuogh

Try filing down the CYMA motor cage... I had the same issue a while back when I was installing that very same gearbox on my CM035. It's a snug fit, but it works.

Just a heads up: the selector levers/components will not fit onto the SRC shell without heavy filing (I learned the hard way), even then you will probably need a new selector switch (ICS is what I used). All worked fine after that though.

Good luck with your new gearbox!
