Just curious if there is/are/anyone has heard of anything like a biathlon using only airsoft? What about other types of organized events that are non-milsim?

My interest was piqued during the olympics, and safety concerns would keep me from using a real .22 rifle in most places that i could do something like this.

my group that i play with came up with a dodgeball type game...basically same rules as normal dodgeball. Semi only and 1 mag, guns are placed in the middle your barrel is facing toward you
... basically if you hit someone theyre out, and if they hit your gun anywhere you get a player back... its pretty fun

yeah, I did a search for biathlon, and got nothing. Didn't really know what else existed in terms of airsoft-style non-milsim.

the concept of sniper golf gave me an idea to tape a line to ping pong balls and hang then like empty soda can targets.

not having much luck with an internet search either, so if anyone has a link to point me too, or any teams in the midwest USA do any non-skirmish shooting, I appreciate your responses in advance.

Quoted from Rainspider of the Tri-Cities Jokers
Quote
Battle Royale Surivival Program

1.Each player starts off the game  with a backpack.  Each backpack shall contain 1 random pistol,  plus ammunition, water, ect..

2.   Each player must possess Communications to stay in contact with admin.

3.   Players will wear a Flag, very similar to flags in flag football.  If this is taken off your body you are out permanently.(simulating a knife attack).  Because of the difficult nature of this , removing this flag will take all remaining respawns from that player.

4.   Wear whatever.

5.   Caches will be marked on the map.  Players may not bring a copy of this map with them , but will have a chance to look at it before the game starts.  These caches will contain weapons and ammo.  The guns will be random, but greater than the pistol you start with.  Could be anything.  Caches may be marked in the field as well.  There will be central ammo caches.

6.   This is a complete free for all.  Players will have a limited number of respawns (5 per person),  You will get more than one chance however once all 5 respawns are used you are permanently out..rounds will have time limits.  Admins may shrink field size as players are eliminated.

7.   Standard safety rules apply including dead man rags, eye protection, water, and all other field rules.

8. Players will start scattered at random locations at our home field.

9.  three 1hour long rounds, if no one is the winner by the end it goes to sudden death.  each round will escalate in terms of weoponry.

Round 1-pistols /shotguns
Round 2 Aegs/pistols/shotguns
Round3- Aegs

This is copied from my local forum. This could be played anywhere I guess. The winner would receive a prize here, but feel free to alter the rules. I will let the author know that his idea has been put out to the vast airsoft community, and have accredited him on here.

Some things that could make it interesting and slightly closer to the movie (or the novel it's based on, which I haven't read) is to have each backpack be random, where some might have a little bit of ammo, some might have a crappy gun (like say an LPEG), some might have a good gun, one might have a claymore, some might have nothing of use (like say a book), etc.  While yes, that will be completely unfair for half the players, it's what happened in the movie, basically.  If I recall, some of the packs had guns, one had a crossbow, and i think another had something useless like a pot.  I haven't watched it in awhile.  Anyway, when you kill someone, you can take what they got for supplies in the backpack, and then maybe only have one life (i.e. no respawns).  You could still have that flag sort of thing so that people who did not start with a weapon can take out someone who got one.  While that sort of scenario could mean a lot of down time for people who get unlucky with their supplies, I think it could be interesting.  If you haven't seen the movie, most of this won't necessarily make sense.

There is always the internet zombie shooting contest:

It's fun, but also very challenging.

Our rule format for sniper golf is this:

Each "hole" is rated on its "par" level. If it's a Par 3, there will be two targets before the "hole" target. We use torso sized cardboard targets for this. The targets are spaced about 50-100' apart, and are placed in relation to the terrain. Once you hit a target, you move to that point to take the next shot, and so on and so forth.

The ultimate goal is to hit the final "hole" target in as few shots as possible, just like golf. If you're good, and can judge the shot well, you can skip one of the closer targets, and shave some shots off of your score.

For example, you are at the tee on a par 3, and you have one target at 100', one at 200', and the "hole" target at 300'. If you play it safe, and are just trying to shoot par, you can shoot the 100' target, then move to that position to shoot the 2nd target, then move to that position to hit the hole. If you're decent, you'll clear it in three shots, giving you a par score. If you know your gun, and the terrain allows, you can take a shot at the second target from the tee, or even the hole, but we almost never set it up so you can get a "hole in one". Just like golf, you need to read the wind, terrain, and plan out the hole to try and get it in the fewest amount of shots.

We make it challenging by setting up the "hole" according to the terrain, and by putting them in a way that you really need the players to decide if you want to take the risk by attempting the long shots, and try to get under par, or just play it safe and shoot for par, hoping other players will screw up and miss shots.

That's the long and short of our version of sniper golf.

Just came up with a fun airsoft activitie while bord on a camping trip
1 multie shot shot gun
safe firing zone
cover around sides
1 frisbie

What i did was essentialy Skeet shooting with my friend and my Tsd tri shot shotty, we each got 1 shell (ten shots) we found the bbs didnt damage my frisbie at all and it was LOADS of fun and really challenging, i hit 4/10 and he got skunked 0/10, give it a shot throw it straight up and a little bit out on the shooters "pull" due to bbs being slower than a real steel you reely have to aim ahead but not too far ahead, kinda hard but still loads of fun.

I know in the Philippines they run "SpeedBall" type games, similar to PaintBall, just with no inflatable cover.

It's similar to PaintBall such as the people on the sidelines shouting out enemies positions.
I like the fast paced aspect of it, but I dislike people shouting out my position. Wink
