About my strike and the circumstances.
« on: May 21, 2010, 11:12:10 PM »

*edit* I've been getting this every other time I try to go to a different page.
"PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 0111AC22"
Just thought I would throw that out there

I really didnt know what to name the topic so I guess more or less here we go.

On May 18th 2008 when classifieds were still free to users, I left the morning posting an updated/new sale for I believe my 2Roy M203 launcher. I was in a rush for work and was late and wanted to come home to emails regarding my updated ad so I could sell it asap. The thread must have been up for a span of less than 8 hours and when I came home I had gotten a PM from Atilla saying I received my strike. I responded immediately apologizing for the careless mistake I had made and offered an explanation as to how that happened. That was the last PM I got from Atilla regarding the issue.

I then PMed another mod....jeez can't remember I believe a couple months back asking if there was anyway the strike could be undone. I assumed Atilla was probably busy dealing with cleaning up the forums, and asked I believe RLB(sorry if im wrong, my outbox is 0 since the message was received) about the deal. The reason for asking the mod(if its not RLB) was because he had seen my scammed thread on the feedback section and noticed how the response was mature and actually thanked me for it over AIM.

Now I guess my little rant which is not really a rant but more just another way to view the strike system and maybe how mod and users can communicate? I think that personally Atilla should have responded to the PM even if it took him a couple of months(since I know how clogged/busy the forum can get) out of respect to me as the user and also because he was the actual mod that handed out the strike. I understand that the mods have lives outside of the forum but its been roughly two years and a PM would have been nice in response to my question to him. Also I believe that the strike I was given was partially unfair to me. Up to then I had never created a vague topic, always respected other users and mods alike, contributed positively, and helped out where ever I could. I created an updated thread by accident and deleting the original one slipped my mind seems like a very minor offense to me. I had sold and created numerous ads up to then so it was not like I was purposeful trying to double post. Up to then I had never received any warnings from anyone and when other users whether it was on the forum or in the classifieds section broke a rule they received their first warning. I believe that should have been my first warning. Also I have seen users name call, etc which seem more important then an updated thread yet those users were only warned and no strikes were handed out. I guess that kinda sums it all up that I believe maybe Mods when PMed should respond even if there is a delay? I understand that everyone has lives outside of the forum but instead of being blown off it would be nice to hear back from a mod. Also maybe people who have received a strike over something small and have never caused a problem could be forgiven? Kinda like a free pass if you will? I have seen users formally ask mods to erase the strikes and I guess I would like to see where the mods stand on this. Thank you for your time.

so you said sorry for breaking the rules--cool. that doesn't change the fact that you broke them. that's what the strike is for. it's not like it's personal.

i didn't read your entire "rant" but when you signed up for these forums you read through the user agreement and then clicked "I AGREE"--one of the things you agreed to is that you have already read or that you will read and follow the forum rules. the three strike process is what we start up for people who skimmed that user agreement. the first strike is your warning.
