I think from a marketing standpoint, it's the wrong visualiztion. This was the problem we had with Paintball back in the early 90's when one had to start referring to the guns as "markers" and you saw several manuf. annodizing their guns brilliant, flashy colors, to get away from the assosciation that was implied.
I'm all for catchy ads, but I think the gore is taking a bit too far!
The change of Paintball in the nineties from Survival Game/Wargame to "markers" and "eliminations" vs. Guns and Kills was all orchestrated by the manufacturers and certain magazines to water it down and to sell Paintball to Mom, and therefore the masses, greatly increasing the player base and profits, which it did.
Notice now Paintball has come full circle, back to the "Wargame", "Scenario ball" image, because lets face it, that is why everyone first picked up a Paintball or Airsoft gun, to play Army, Rambo, War etc. not "mark someone out".
IMO I dont feel Airsoft will follow that path at all, since the whole point is Milsim and realism.
Again this isnt an "Airsoft Promo" it is a promo for our products, including some Airsoft. The gore is meant to be over the top! So I guess it worked! I appreciate all the feedback, suggestions and points of view.
