The Convention was great. There is something for everyone. They held a panel on the history of beer, my panel on airsoft and firearms safety, how to make a sword/Boken, history of street racing, ect.
Some of the attendees, (I couldnt fit everyone in the picture)

The panel could have went better but we had 40 people attend. 60% already played airsoft and were looking for a local field and a retailer to buy AEGs from. There were some prior military service members present. There was a retired member of Airforce Pararesuce and another member of the airforce also attended the panel. The rest consisted of parents and the kids. There was one attendee that made it worthwhile. He had just recovered from liver surgery and was too week to play paintball. He found out about airsoft via my panel and attended with his dad. He was thrilled to find out that he could practice target shooting with a GBB, since his parents wouldnt allow him to use a bb gun. After discussing the velocity differences of a bb gun and a GBB, his father agreed to buy one for him under the condition that they practiced together. Its moments like this that make a difference in the community.
CTcon is one of the most airsoft friendly environments around. You are required to have a blaze orange tip on the barrel and remove the motor on your AEG. For GBBS remove the mag and you must have a blaze orange tip on the barrel. Once your AEG is cleared by CTcon staff your free to move around the convention center. When leaving you must put your gun in a carry bag.
I can always use help for next years panel. Previous attendees included GORDAK and members of Filforce. Its a great chance to represent airsoft and better educate the masses. By running this panel it can prevent new players from playing on an unauthorized field, or assist someone in buying their aegs from reputable local retailers.
