Two AEG's against two snipers... What to do?
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:40:23 PM »

Hey! Okay I just thought I would throw this in here for the fun of it. So we have a small team (four members. Team DELTA Force 1). Two of which having JG M4 s-systems. We usually play a three hit your out style of game. Of course I have my UTG L96 DIY with tbb and my friends brother (who is kinda young) has a UTG L96 no upgrades. It's usually snipers against AEG's and we normally loose. My first question is that at my friends house there is NO cover. I mean they can see us 100% of the time. What can we do? My friends brother (the sniper one) is not very good at sniping. I mean he kinda sits there and waits and if he gets the perfect shot he will take. He is a good shot and has his good moments he just needs more experience. Situation 2. In my friends woods what should we do? I mean if I hide I don't want to let my teammate get shot which means I try to stay close to him which kinda backfires sometimes. My plan is just to hide really well and wait until they come up and snipe them. My real problem is the no cover situation.

I really don't care what you say so have fun with it, bravosniper

Here are some tips:

1) Find another place to play.
2) Build some cover.
3) Balance the teams (1 AEG and 1 sniper per team).
4) Rather than stay close to your team mate, set up so that you have overlapping fields of fire and the opponents cannot simply concentrate their fire on one location.
5) General tip, find more people to play with and get out of the backyard.

Pretty much covered it.
This is usually the point in Airsoft where people realize that "sniper rifles" are far disadvantaged to AEG's.
Perhaps pick up a sidearm?

Okay thanks. That's what I thought you might say. I have a sidearm it's a TSD 1911. Yeah we need to split up and not play in his backyard as much. Like I said keep the suggestions coming. I just want to see what you have to say.

Consider switching to the standard "one hit and you're out" rule. As long as the snipers are patient and decisive, that could even the playing field quite a bit.

When your not playing get to know your gun better. Spend time doing quick shots, set 2-3 targets at your normal engagement distance and practice aquireing target shooting and then reloading and then shooting the next target. This will help with your followup shots. You can even do this with your sidearm. At least once a week i get out my guns and gear and shoot a few mags downrange to (A) keep my skills sharp (B) try to improve what i already have... Practice makes perfect, but nothing beats experience.

As for tactics. Use your teammate and split up make them have to fight on 2 fronts, flank and get them distracted on 2 areas of attack, try and wait for them to reaload and then push hard. Combine this with hours of practice behind your gun and you will be able to give your friends a run for their money...

Each weapon has it's own specialty and reason for existence. When talking "stock" with no modifications a sniper rifle has more range than an assault rifle. However the assault rifle has a higher rate of fire compared to bolt action. You also have to consider name brand and quality such as a kwa vs a utg which can also be a game changer. As far as assault goes... it's pretty much an all around win. I mean for you to win, you need some serious range for them to be out gunned and for you to dig in deep.

Change the 3 hits your out, make 3 hits for the sniper and 1 hit for the rifles.

I really think all of this could be settled if you guys just switch teammates. I mean this is like one person with two left hands and one person with two right hands.... good luck with that.

In addition to the posts mentioned by the other members, I think you should reduce the hit count per round.  3 gives the AEG team too much flexibility.  It gives them more chances to rush in and overrun you guys.  While your team might only get a couple good hits, but with the 3 hits going it will not matter much.  If you don't want to switch up the team members, and/or the weapons of team (BASRx2 vs AEGx2), then maybe you can give the AEG team less hits to get them out, while keeping the sniper team higher.

In real life a sniper has a couple distinct advantages in the right situation. It fires at much higher velocity, usually with a larger and more consistant round that hold more energy down range. It also has the advantage of outranging an assault rifle. In airsoft, most snipers do not have higher muzzle energy than an AEG. They do not outrange an AEG. They also have the disadvantage of being bolt action and holding fewer rounds.

In short buy an AEG.

If I was the sniper, I'd use the new Snow Wolf M82 in full auto like a newb and even the fields ;)

But honestly, this scenario is so stupid, I wouldn't participate in it at all. There's a reason one person is a spotter and the other person snipes.

Not true, for instances the SW m82 can be found at airsplat on their recent shipments but for now it is out of stock.
I believe you can still find it from other websites just at a more outragous price (around $75 more than Airsplat).
Just wait for a new shipment to come in. I think they had them in stock about 2 weeks ago. I don't know much "a long time" is in your head. But it's still around. Let's not put the "Glock" ban on it just yet ;)

Secondly, there's still members contributing to the thread, I fail to see how you came to that conclusion.
