Ahh, the good ol' days of Marui Man.
« on: March 09, 2011, 03:25:02 AM »

AEG's, dispatching evil apples worldwide.

For those youngin's who don't know, this is Tokyo Marui's marketing campaign for AEG's (in a time when classic GBB's were plentiful) back in 1991, when they first released the popular M16A1. With this they brought a revolution to the airsoft world, which over two decades later still is the most used airsoft system - all developed from TM's original AEG design. No matter how much hate I see in the airsoft world for TM, they will always have my respect for this amazing feat.

Marui-Man, a man among men.  He understood that it isn't about the elimination of the enemy, but how you scare the heck out of them. ;D

We need this kind of advertising back.

"Future the Next !!!" - Marui advertisment.

Side Note: Year One TM M16 AEG gearboxes were Red. Best of my knowledge less than 2 dozen were shipped to the US.
A teamate and friend of mine, Pete - "Gadget" owns one, in the original box, manual, and bag of bb's.
Trying to get him to post his collection of aeg's & gbb's, 250+(?) guns, all in original boxes....

I hope TM and much more importantly Japan can pick themselves up and my thoughts go out to my friends and family in Tokyo and Chiba.

No offense to the Gas gun purists.  But in the late 80's when my friends switched from all spring guns to gas guns, they literally ruined the gaming for us.  The gas guns were so damn tempermental that eventually we lost interest.  My friend was attempting to set up a retail shop in Illinois and I remember his Japanese contact was talking about the battery powered AEG.  We both laughed at the thought.  Boy were we wrong.  We gave up for years but in 97 I bought a TM MP5 and it brought everyone back from the old days and then some.  God bless Tokyo Marui and their innovation

I hope TM wasn't too badly affected by the crisis. I'll always be faithful in their products. That commercial just caught my eye the first time I saw it 5 years ago when Marui-man had his corny glasses along with a perfect combo of 90's music.
