So some time ago i bought a scrap airsoft BAR mechanism in a flea market. The guy selling it said that some kid brought it but was fuzzy on the details. I also got the bipod from this set, i already installed it on my m249 :) will show it soon. The guy also had a scope for sale, but the cross was missing. Other parts were already gone. The mechanism has one of the inside parts bent, when i straightened it i was able to cock and shoot a couple of times, but then it bent again. Will make a steel replacement in the future.

Without further delay! There are the pictures:

What is this thing? I feel like i've seen it before, but where? Anybody can help me out? I want to make a BAR rifle out of it using a custom ultralight foldable stock to get something like this . Some info of the origin of the part would be helpful.

It's a UTG M324 Master Sniper receiver/cylinder. What other questions are you asking?

Thanks for the info, it really helps. While we are at it, do you have any suggestion about the material i should consider for the stock? I would like to make it as light and compact as possible when folded. I plan to use it mostly for sporting and taget practice and want it to fit in a backpack.

Well, there is a lot to decode from your post here.  First, Booligan already commented on the receiver and cylinder you have.  It's quite beat up btw...Next you mention a bipod that you installed on a M249 - relevance to the thread topic is unknown.  Now you mention a scope that has a missing crosshair, then directly back into a cocking issue with what I assume to be a bent spring guide...whooah.  Now, asking about a rifle with a folding stock and making a BAR10 into so it can fit in a backpack.

Well, its all quite confusing when you piece it together like that and when the thread topic only covers one of your many questions.

For a custom folding gun, I would say it will be more work than its worth trying to create something that you can already purchase.  For instance, I applied minor modifications to a KP45 Match GBBP, fitted it with a PDI 303mm IB and had a custom hider made from a GSPEC.  It basically made a GBBP into a VSR10/BAR10 GSPEC, very compact with the same IB as the GSPEC @ 303mm.  If you really want something folding, then I would suggest an MP5.  Or if you are hell bent on making something, take a full BAR10 rifle - GSPEC for barrel compactness, toss the faux hider, and cut the stock behind the trigger mech.  Make some type of hinge and locking mech for the stock.  But, really, there are so many easier options out there which already address this application.  The design of the SU16 wont work because it separates the trigger mech from the receiver…

I know it is in a really bad shape, somebody abused it a lot while using. As for the cocking issue, it's one of the trigger mechanism parts. It might be a lot of work but i want to do it using the part just for the sake of doing and proving myself that i can. My question was only about the mechanism, the info about a bipod and scope was there to give a hint in identification  if anybody needed it.

That's about all i wanted to know, close the thread or something if it is the proper way to do it.
