TM Gindan Pistols - Anyone have one?
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:43:23 PM »

Something I overlooked that has recently caught my eye - TM a few months back released some new spring pistols, under the title "Gindan". Nothing new, I thought, I used to use their HGHU Mk23 and 1911 - great, but not for skirmishing.

Then, I see this:

My mind is blown - it's a semi automatic spring pistol. No cocking, no gas, no batteries. Of course FPS is measly, but for TM to develop such a system is pretty impressive.

That said I'm going to buy one the next time I make an eHobby order, but as a prelim, has anyone else used one before? How does this system work?

^yea except they somehow made it so that when you pull the trigger back you pull the spring and then it releases making it semi-auto, or at least thats my take on it

Good enough for me, I only use Pistols for within med shots, if it goes 20+feet. It passes! any mention on price?

They've been out for a few months now - around $18-20.

I want one. Looks like fun. Just gotta pull that trigger all the way, or else looks like you get double feeds.

Well, even though this isnt skirmishable, maybe someone can perfect the design and make it a very viable pistol. (even TM itself)

I personally and tired of GBB and EBB because i have no luck with either, with GBB i run out of gas at the worst times, or it is too cold to get even a full mag out of it.

and with EBBs most are cheap or wont last extremely long (as compared to a springer)

I havent seen a 1911 variant, but if they come out with one or a full size glock id buy it just for plinking in my room.

I don't think these will ever be useful in real games. Because of the way they work, the trigger pull would have to be ridiculously hard for you to get more power.

Take them for what they are- silly little pistols that shoot slow enough for use around the house.

Interesting.  The slow floating of the bb's made me think of my old TM famas, lol.

I like the idea, but I'm not liking how it seems like the entire thing is made if really, really cheap plastic.

I used to buy little semi-automatic spring powered pistols back in the 70's. They shot little yellow rubber balls that were top loaded through a sliding door in the top of the gun and gravity fed. They had a range of about 15' and a life span of about a week, but they were under a buck at the corner store...

I like that it's magazine fed and a TM, though.

Seems like kind of a cool idea for a last resort side arm.  No gas or battery to go out on you.  And it wouldn't hurt to turn it on yourself if everything went to *%#t.

And it would be a good reason to use that giant box of .12s I have besides Tornado grenades.

I don't know. Nobody's going to notice if they get shot by it. Using guns with velocity this low in a real game just leads to arguments.

If you want to have a little shootout in your kitchen or deflect some BBs with your toy lightsaber, this is just right. Otherwise, I wouldn't try to use this in a game.

It this: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/firefly-130-upgrade-spring-for-marui-gindan-spring-pistol.html suppose to increase FPS? I don't see how it would increase "recoil".

Looks cool. I wonder if you can still cock it. I'd love to have one of these to plink around the house.

No moving parts besides the trigger - even the mag catch is faux, you simply pull the mag out XD.

Ok that's awesome! What a cool idea...whoever thought of this knows how to make something fun. Definitely adding this to my next ehobbyasia order. When you get yours in, let us know how cool it is.

That's probably the perfect GTFO MY ROOM springer when you don't feel like being shouted at by your parents for bruising your brother  ::)

I used them in a couple of skirmishes at the cqb place I go to in chiba when I go back to Japan and have time for a game or two. They are much more solid than the video appears they can take knocks and falls well. No they are not the same as other TM springers in structural strength but the plastic is the typical tm plastic (which we all know is good). You can not feel them when wearing a large amount of gear but someone running just bdu or something like that there is no problem. You should all try it at the price they are I got two of them to go all John Wu. Better than you would expect.

those honestly remind me of those real old skool disk pistols they would sell in supermarkets a while back that were semi-auto.  the operating principle was very simple: as you pull the long trigger back, it would pull this "hook" back until the trigger reached the end of its travel and release the "hook" forward, catching the disk projectile and propelling the round out of the pistol.  the magazines were integral and worked very much like a real firearm's in that it had a follower sitting on top of a spring that carried the ammo up into the breech.  i imagine the operating system in these pistols are exactly the same, which makes me wonder why they never thought of this before, when those disk guns had been around since the 1980s.
