Power of Fire ACU

Published: March 2006

This is a review of the Reproduction ACU Set from Power of Fire.

In this review I'll explain:
-Appearance
-Quality
-First Impressions
-Pros
-Cons

First Impressions:

I picked this set up on eBay from Airsoft Dragon, and in all honesty, when I bought these and first saw these, I didn't know if they were real or not, they look exactly like the Issued ACU. As I opened up the package and saw the Velcro patch area I instantly got giddy with excitement. The Velcro is great quality and is stitched on quite well to be a reproduction. The reason I call this a "reproduction" set is because it has the exact same characteristics of the real ACU except for a few nitpicks.

Appearance:

The finish of the ACU set is pretty good except for the large amount of left threads at the end of the stitching. The IR Tab doesn't really sell the look unless it's what they actually look like (Haven't seen one on the ACUs yet).

The IR Tab:

The pattern looks dead on and doesn't look fake/cheap what-so-ever.

There is Velcro everywhere, just like the Issued ACU, and it's good Velcro, none of that cheap stuff here. I plan to buy team name tapes to put on soon and I have confidence in that they will stay there. There is also a double zipper and Velcro on the flap that covers the zipper as on the issued versions.

The pants are also a great piece for being a reproduction, and I'm wearing them right now as I type. They have large pockets on the side of the legs that are about 10 inches wide and 10 inches long (Big pouches). They are all held on with Velcro, and the hold is superb as on the blouse. They also have a small utility pouch on the bottom half of the leg that looks big enough to fit an M16 type magazine in.

Quality:

As I mentioned before, the quality is outstanding for a reproduction. The Velcro is great and the uniform feels good. The uniform is made of 100% Cotton and will probably shrink in the wash. I ordered Medium/Regular and they are pretty large on me so shrinking shouldn't be an issue. The only issue I have with quality is as I said before the mock IR Tab and the pull cord for the pouches on the sleeve, it just looks too fake.

Pros:

-Full Velcro areas as on Issued ACU sets.
-Pattern is practically dead on.
-Comfortable to wear, 100% Cotton
-Everything you see on the Issued ACU sets is on these
-Quality is the highest I've seen in a reproduction set
-Price is cheap, $70 a set including shipping (EBay)

Cons:
-Thread ends were not removed
-Shrinking Issue for some possibly
-Possible tearing issue due to 100% Cotton Fabric
-Some cheesy fake areas that are small and unnoticeable

Conclusion:
For those of you looking for an ACU and are not satisfied with the Tru-Spec knockoffs that don't include Velcro and the key features of ACU but don't want to pay the price of Issued, this is the best bet to go with. They are simply the best reproduction ACU set out there and the price is a decent $70 with shipping included. The only problems they have are very small and practically unnoticeable.

Few shots:

Positive aspects of the product (pros): built great
Cons:

The ACU (Army Combat Uniform) is put together very nicely but as for the multi-purpose coloring it makes you kind of stick out i recomend wearing it in street/urban combat but not desert or woodland I recomend the MARPAT (Marine Pattern) it has been proven several times that the MARPAT blends in better with the surroundings but there is 2 different sets

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Comfortable, light weight, velcro patches, and authentic look
Cons: The camoflauge isn't best for woodland during spring or summer

I have a pair of real ACUs. I received them from a friend I have in the national guard. I have to say I can't find anything different between the two uniforms. The IR tab looks exactly the same and everything.

FYI, The Velcro tab should go over the IR tab to avoid the sun from damages the chip underneath the stitching.

I recommend using this uniform during the fall or winter. During spring or summer things just get to green for the uniform to blend in decently. The uniform works best in urban environments and in the woodland at night when the star and moonlight is visible. Gives you a great advantage over your opponents who are giving away that dark shadow in the middle of a moon lite woodland.
